Started the 5:2 diet last week and lost 5lbs a weekend party involving alcohol and a lot of food meant I gained 2lbs again! That will teach me I suppose but what do people do when that happens? Just start again? I've decided now to cut out alochol aswell and this week do 4:3 to get the weight back off again!

You are going to have to accept this as part of the plan, your weight will bounce around, weigh yourself only once a week after a down day for an accurate reading. As long as the overall trend is downwards you've got nothing to worry about. You can't expect to do 1 week of the plan, and then keep all of that weight off after an UP weekend, it's a long term approach and losses will be slow but generally steady, aim for 1-2lbs a week.

Well said - I've had to learn that too! My loss due to my height/weight I need to aim for 1/2lb - if I aimed for more I just can't do it - 3500 calorie deficit for 1lb per week - doing the maths would mean extra and complete fasting for me - so slow, steady and sustainable need to be realistic about lb per week.
