5:2 or JUDDD??

Hey everyone

So I've been thinking about doing 5:2 for a while, but have just spotted JUDDD as well. How did people choose which to go for? Not sure which to do to get the best results? I have terrible will power and just want to get something which works for me as fast as possible.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

Some people may say that the 5:2 is JUDD light :) If you choose to do 4:3, then you're very close to JUDD.

However, some studies have shown little difference between 5:2 and 4:3, so you may want to give yourself an easier time and do 5:2.

The benefit of 5:2 over JUDD is no need to calculate intake. Just eat those 500 cals on the down days and away you go!

My advice - try 5:2 and see if you lose. If you're losing, your winning! Should you not be losing, or want more loss (within reason!), look at 4:3, or maybe to fast days back to back with another later in the week. (MT, F).

So far i've done 5:2 but this week i'm trying 4:3 to see if their is any difference in weightloss. I normally lose 1/2lb to 1lb so interested to see the difference.

Experiment with the various ways of fasting and see which suits you best :)

I agree with the above, try 5/2 and see if it works first. It didn't for me hence me doing JUDDD and fasting every other day. Lost a lot in first few weeks now it's slowed down but going well. If i didn't eat so much on the up day i would prob lose more, ha ha!! x

A quick add: I tend to do 5:2 around work and business travel and see a small loss, maybe because I'm not being good at all on the eat days - big breakfast, buffet lunch, big evening meal out with added booze. (That's what got me into this state in the first place, but I like the lifestyle......)

When I'm on a non-travel, office based week, I'm on 4:3 and the weight drops off. Both from the extra fast and from the better control of the eat days. I don't count calories at home, I do eat more healthily and drink a lot less.

I did 4:3 until i reached my target weight, now I'm doing 5:2 to maintain :)

I started JUDDDing cos I started before Michael Moseley's telly programme.

By the time it aired and everyone was talking about it I had settled on my own version that was almost 5:2. The original JUDDD book encourages you to find your own way and suggests that 2 days a week is most doable whilst getting the health benefits.

So really, given the way everyone muddles up their own version there isn't really any difference between the two. You just sort out what works best inside your own lifestyle.

So experiment with it until you find what is doable for you... as we have all probably typed before, there are no real rules, just eat your calories. Move your fast/down days to suit your lifestyle and you can't 'fail' either :)

Good luck.

Hi.
I hope someone can help. Ive been doing CD for around 8 days and have cheated twice. I find it hard to live off shakes but have found that I can cope with a 500cal day. Sooooooo, I looked through this forum to find info on 5:2 and found Judd. It looks good to me. However, Im finding it hard to find info on the net without having to "buy" a book on it.
Can anyone help with what it is?
Do you eat 500cals on a Mon, Wed and Fri and eat 1500 the rest of the time? Am I getting this right?
Many thanks to anyone who replies :)

OK, the generic, 1 size fits all, numbers are Down Days 500 kcal Up Days 2000 kcal.

You don't need the book, it has lots of research data and some recipes that are easy to find elsewher, just the site will give you all the info you need link

Ignore all the sales hype about Revasterol. Use the calculator to work out your numbers, but his book does say that most people use 500 and 2000. He is a great advocate of making the 'diet' fit into your life rather than defining it. I started Mon, Weds, Fri but couldn't make the third, so I changed to Mon and Weds. Now, for some reason, I am on Tues and Thurs. The idea is to do what you can and not regret what you can't.

1 rule: eat your calories. That is it, basically.

Great. Thanks for the info. Have you lost all of your weight doing Judd? It does sound too good to be true! I think Im going to give this a go starting tomorrow.

I did 4:3 until i reached my target weight, now I'm doing 5:2 to maintain :)

Did you do JUDDD all the time and how long did it take you to loose the weight.?

Hi there :)
I am also on slim and save, well was, im getting married in 6 weeks in malta, and slim and save just isnt do-able for me right now, so decided to go for either 4:3 or juddd untill i go, and i can use the rest of my packs too. I had a brief time of juddd last year, didnt work very well for me, think i overdid it with junk on the UP days, im quite a slow loser when it comes to my weight, very stubborn body!! Is 4:3 and juddd the same does anyone know? xx

Yes, all of mine is JUDDD loss. Though it turns out that my personal JUDDD is very close to 5:2 :)

I have done it when it fit my life and not felt guilty if I could not manage it, which was quite often. So in a year I lost about 1/2 lb week, week in week out with very little hassle, planning, measuring or anything else.

I have just today started my very gradual reintroduction to exercise and will be more careful about what I eat now, mfp and all that.

Good luck :D
