has anyone achieved weight lost on paleo ofter vlcd refeed?

im only on day 5 of slim and save, want to do 10 weeks to give me kick start, then refeed and am looking around for diet or should I say way of life to hopefully lose another few stone (happy to take scenic route) and then maintain

never heard of paleo because came across it on minimims but have really done some research into it and think its just what I need love the health benefits achieved from it too and walking is something I love, so sounds just perfect for me

however just wondered if this was sort of diet could move onto straight from refeed as appears to be fairly high calorie, was thinking perhaps following basic principles to start with and doing 5:2 with it also

would love to hear from anyone who has managed to keep losing weight / maintain on paleo . many thanks x

    week 8
    week 9
    week 10
    week 11 date .. scary!!

    goals:
to be 14 stone or less for *half way there* shopping trip middle july - reached im 13.7st exactly

Diet: various then S&S/Paleo now 5:2 with 16.8
    Start Date: 5:2/16.8 Dec 2013
Hi - just subscribing so I can see what replies people come up with really, as I don't have the experience yet that will answer your question! I did four months slim and save last year, not 100% but I lost three stone with s&s, and 4stone in total over the year, in prep for hip replacement surgery last October. Since then I put back about half and looked into primal eating, read Mark's book, and began in earnest last week. This is only my fifth day and too early to register a proper weight loss. But I am enjoying this way of eating and it suits me. I'm hoping to do it for three weeks then check on any results, then perhaps incorporate 5:2. I am trying to keep my protein grams more or less over 100 daily and carb grams under 80 and so far this hasn't been a problem. I too am happy now to take the scenic route. Best of luck

I did 2 weeks of Cambridge then straight into paleo and am now onto week 8 of paleo.

When I first changed over I gained 1lb but have gone on to lose 11lb with no problems.

I wouldn't bother with the refeed as paleo is naturally low carb so your body will adapt very quickly to the extra calories as it is still in fat burning mode x

No after years of trying every diet going I started researching paleo and its amazing!

It really has changed my life and I won't be doing another fad diet ever again
I have more energy and am healthier than ever, I eat amazing food and never feel deprived

I have also taken up running (I know chronic cardio isnt primal but am running the great north run in September as I have always wanted to do it) and am going to start using kettle bells too.

I'm thinking if moving toward Paleo when I've lost a bit, well, a lot of weight on a vlcd. Would you mind filling me in a bit on a typical days food for you? I've recently bought The Paleo Solution and am ploughing through that but it would be really good to hear from someone in real life :-)

Re: has anyone achieved weight lost on paleo ofter vlcd refeed?

A typical day for me is

    Breakfast
4 rashers grilled bacon with 2 scrambled eggs (with double cream and cooked in butter)
    OR
    Fullfat greek yogurt with raspberries

    Lunch
    Tuna/chicken or egg mayo salad
    OR
Leftovers (today is leftover paleo lamb "lasagne")

    Dinner
Pulled pork, homemade coleslaw and salad
    OR
Roast chicken, celeriac dauphinoise and sautéed cabbage
    OR
Belly pork, roasted sweet potato and veg

There is so much tasty food to eat and a quick google with provide you with thousands of recipes

I cant recommend paleo enough x

Thanks for that. It looks very similar to Atkins, which I couldn't do for more than a couple of weeks but I'm assuming you're ok to have plenty of fruit and veg on Paleo?

Have a really good read as its a fab start to paleo/primal living and he talks about complete health not just the diet side.

I had planned to do cambridge for a lot longer but once I got into reading about primal it put me off the shakes as they are so artificial and so I just moved over, yes the weight loss is slower but Im really happy with it and for the first time in my life I am not obsessed or stressed about food!
I was stuck in the starve/binge cycle before and in the 8 weeks I have been primal I havent once binged or even come close ( do have to be careful with nuts though as they can be overeaten easily lol) I dont crave chocolate anymore (you can have 85% good quality chocolate in moderation) I only drink water instead of pepsi and tea full of sugar and I never get afternoon sugar slumps

My family are not fully paleo but I am bringing them round and my kids no longer drink gallons of squash, just water. They have only had sweets twice (due to parties) and are generally eating so much better.

Strange how last year you were enjoying following Paul McKenna, drinking full sugar versions soft drinks, eating only when your body is hungry(which you said was how we are actually designed to eat),eating very healthy where no food is restricted so you don't end up having a binge.

And you were happy just eating this amount.

    Breakfast
1 egg scrambled with a little milk on 1 slice of buttered toast but left a quarter as full

    Snack
    Satsuma

    Lunch
    Homemade Sweet mincepie

    Dinner
small portion of homemade chicken pasta bake and a slice of garlic bread (left some as full)

Thanks for all the advice, I could keep asking you questions all day! Do you have book you follow too? I just went with what sounded the best on Amazon but don't really have a clue. I've been on Slim and Save for 5 weeks now and I'm doing ok so want to stick with it whilst I can but need to find a new way of eating if the weight is to keep off - this time. Weirdly I've been pretty much veggie for most of my life but I think meat is the way forward for me. I been trying bits here and there and it's not so bad! Love seafood though and chicken. I love the idea of no additives/chemicals and try my best with that now except when doing a vlcd. Introducing Paleo to my 3 children would be a challenge! They only drink Rocks or Bottlegreen squash so I'm ok with that, can't imagine a day any of them would ask for a glass of water:-) meat is a bit of an issue here too as I've never cooked them anything other than fish or chicken and at 10 my eldest would like to be fully vegetarian, it's me that's stopping him.
I think I'd better sort myself out first and then move onto them:<)
