Lunchtime inspiration needed!!!

Someone please help me, i cant eat anymore salads or im gonna crack up!!
I need some ideas for lunch at work.

Mainly red days im having issues with. There is only a microwave to cook with and toaster.

Ive had a look online but alot of the ideas come with salad!!
HELP!!! :D

I cook my quorn sausages in the microwave.. so beans sausage and toast? Or scrambled egg on toast? maybe take in leftovers from your dinner the night before? I take in things like ryvita minis with babybel lights and ham .. and a box of fruit (like berries and banana) yoghurts.. alpen lights..

This is why I stick to green days I have the same trouble.
What about looking for ready meals that you can have on red days?
or use some bread for HEX and do scrambled egg in the microwave!

Superfree!
It's as easy as this...

Prepare whatever Superfree veggies take your fancy… we’ve used peppers, onions, courgettes, baby sweetcorn, asparagus, mushrooms and tomatoes. You can dry-fry them until soft or leave them raw for extra crunch.

Mix together the 3 eggs, 150g very low fat natural cottage cheese and some chopped parsley. Lay the chopped vegetables out in an oven-proof flan dish then pour the cottage cheese mix over. Pop in the oven at 190ºC/375ºF/Gas 5 for around 30 minutes, or until the quiche is set and golden brown.

Serve the quiche in wedges with Free chips on a Green day, or piles of salad - ideal for lunchboxes!
Save up to an amazing 48½ Syns* with our Superfree version of this teatime favourite!
*(compared to Sainsbury's Garden Vegetable 400g Quiche)
Other tasty quiche ideas include:

 • Tuna and sweetcorn - Free on Green (add 6 Syns on Green if not using 113g tuna canned in brine as a Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice)
 • Ham and broccoli - Free on Original and Green (add 6 Syns on Green if not using 85g ham as a Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice)
 • Salmon and dill - Free on Original and Green (add 6 Syns on Green if not using 57g fresh salmon/71g salmon canned in brine as a Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice)
 • Cheese and onion - Free on Original and Green (add 6 Syns if not using cheese as a Healthy Extra ‘a’ choice)
 • Pasta quiche – Free on Green - Make up a packet of Free pasta and sauce, such as Batchelors Tomato, Onion & Herb Pasta ‘n’ Sauce, pour into the flan dish and then add the cottage cheese mixture.
 • Quiche Lorraine – Lean grilled bacon, cheese and onion - Free on Original (add 6 Syns if not using cheese as a Healthy Extra ‘a’ choice)

mug shots and pasta n sauce are mostly free on a green day....

i cant eat baked beans, they make me sick!!! i wish i could coz they are so low!!
ive tried the red ideas and worked well but i wanted to vary what i eat and not have the same things.
thanks for the tips hun.

ready meals is a good idea, especially now winter is coming !! green days are easier for lunch but not for dinner for me really!!!

Maybe you could try mix to max and have red for brekkie, green for lunch and the red for dinner?

ive never tried mix to match, i dont really understand it that well, even read thru the book about it the other day, i worry bout eating the wrong things!
i like to know what day im doing so i can plan and stick to it!

I'm going to bump this up as I'm sat here eating soup and a salad. Again.

Great ideas! Thank you! :)

I think it's getting harder now as the weather is getting nice. I got through winter with reheated leftovers but now I don't want so much hot food, but at the same time, I can't eat salad 3 days in a row for lunch!

Saying that, has anyone got any ideas for salads (hot or cold) as I seem to just stick to lettuce, onion, cucumber and some form of meat...

haha, i didnt look at the date that it was posted and just saw 'winters coming' and was like wtf! lol

Red days i have roasted veg with meat, yummy! for a microwave you can have any leftovers!! Its brilliant! Any red day dinner ready for lunch :) xx

Leftovers might be the way to go. I used to give them to my husband for his lunch but I guess I could snatch them back since he can eat whatever he likes, skinny sod!

We have a microwave, toaster and kettle so I'm also thinking towards mugshots with maybe a sandwich on the side...

I this week so far for lunches have had:

Wholemeal pitta (HEb) filled with hot roast beef & home-made onion chutney

Wholemeal pitta (HEb) filled with Chicken & Salad

Bacon & Plum tomatoes with poached eggs

Home-made quiche.

I guess if you grill bacon & things prior to going to work you could always have things like that. For Salads I tend to have meat & salad but always bulk out my salads with boiled eggs. Lots of free salad dressings in different flavours helps it not taste the same all the time too.

Mix salad
Tomato, cucumber, red pepper /can be roast from jar/, onion, 42 g feta cheese /HEA/. Mix the vegetables and grate the feta over them. Add little salt and vinegar to taste.

Salad Sister free on EE
Lettuce, boiled broccoli. 7 olives /1 syn/ seafood sticks, handful boiled pasta, 2tbsp extra light mayo/2syn/ or natural yoghurt. Mix everything and add lemon juice to taste.

Spring salad
Gem lettuce, cucumber, radishes, 1 chopped boiled egg, salt and vinegar or Kraft Light French salad dressing.

Cabbage salad
Finely sliced cabbage and grated carrots seasoned with salt and vinegar.

Carrot salad
Grated carrots seasoned wit salt and vinegar. /You will be surprised how testy is that/

I think that enough for now

If you have use of a toaster at lunchtime then what about sardines on toast? I heat my sardines in the microwave at work, also I will buy some salmon & cook it at home, let it go cold and have this with salad, you could also make some burgers & warm them up to have with a salad

What about some left over meal from the night before? I regularly have things like roast chicken and veg and take a pot of gravy granules with me!
Tesco tinned (red tin) stewing steak in gravy is free.
Iceland chicken fillets in gravy or beef slices in gravy are free on a Red day or EE day.

Also when you do have a salad, try mixing it up a bit:

Hex B of new potatoes
Cous cous (synned on red days)
Sweetcorn (synned on red days)
Celery, toms, cucumber, gherkins, beetroot, radishes
Boiled Egg
Different meats
Different dressings
Coleslaw

I generally take a pre cooked jacket potato and beans, or make a mushy pea curry the night before and have that.
Do you have access to a toaster? I often have beans on toast as that's quick and easy.
You could make a beany casserole and then warm it up in the microwave at work.

Michelle

Hi,
Left overs will be good as you have access to a microwave. ( by left overs i mean OVER cook the night before so there is deffinatly some for the next day lunch)
Jacket potato can be cooked in about 10 mins depending on the size.
Chilli, stew, pasta bake, mug shots, pasta and sauce, micro rice, some ready meals are low ish in syns for an emergency.

What is it about soup you dont like?
