No Drinking Challenge

Hi All
I decided to post this on here to see if it makes me stick to it!
I've been doing sw for about 12wks now and have lost just over a stone, which I'm thrilled with! I think my losses would be so much better if I didn't drink though. I spend all week playing catch up after drinking (usually way over syns without even going in to food!) at the weekend- not every weekend I should add. I know you can drink on sw if you save your syns but my willpower goes out of the window so I want to cut it out altogether for a few weeks.
Just recently there has always been something going on- birthdays/weddings etc but the next social event is a BBQ at the end of the month so I'm going to abstain until then.
I don't feel I have a problem with alcohol- I'm only 23 and enjoy drinking and going out with my friends- but I feel like it can become habitual to go to the pub on a weekend.
Would anyone like to join me?
Rosie x

We'll done on your loss so far :) amazing!

Im the same as you with drinking, I'm also 23 and only drink on a Saturday night. I'd like to join but I have a few Saturday night events coming up so I may adapt mine to drink within allowed syns rather than drink nothing at all (if I drink nothing at all my friends will buy me tequila and make me drink it, it's happened before haha).

I'm thinking gin and slimline tonic x4 is around 15 syns?

Hi Beckie :)
Good idea! If you have the willpower to drink within syns then that would work! Not sure- is gin about 4 syns per shot?
If I'm attempting to be good I have extra dry martini- 2.5 syns each- with diet coke/lemonade if they have it.
Friends don't help with not drinking do they! Urgh tequila of all things *gags*

im going to try my best, this Saturday went a bit bad and I estimated 25 syns worth of alcohol I had :(

Martini sounds nice :) gin is 4.5syns per 35ml (just checked lol) yiiiikkkessss

good luck on the no drinking :) I won't be drinking the weekend after next at all as I doing a 10k run on the Sunday so that will help :)

Hi Beckie
Wondered how you were getting on? Did you try any martini?
Ive stuck to it all weekend, Friday felt odd! I haven't missed it tho really- haven't had time to fit it in my mouth with the amount of pizza, flapjack and chocolate I've eaten
Back to plan tomorrow, the food surely can't be as bad as the booze....

Hi, hi, ive done ok thanks, I didn't try it yet but stuck to gin and slimline tonic. I did have more than I planned to though, then came home and ate 2 hifi bars . It could have been worse as I came home and ate potato wedges last week so it's a stop in the right direction :)

big congrats on the not drinking! Do you feel better today for it?

id love a pizza right now haha

Well done for sticking to the g&t! And hifi bars, crikey it could have been much worse :)
Im terrible for mixing (and shots!) once I've had a couple.
I do feel better for it actually! Ive been doing all sorts and not got the groggy feeling or skint guilt trips!
The pizza was totally worth it. I did create your own in asda and they always were my favourite. Not had one for over 14wks! I got all veggies on top so im sure it was a third superfree ;)
Thinking of doing success express Mon,tue and wed, you ever done it?

no cheesy chips was an achievement :D oh I love those ones from Asda, me and my dad used to get them and have half each :) deffo counts more the super free lol

ive never done it, is it the one which is 2/3 super free foods?

Asda's are just so good. Its the BBQ sauce base, so yummy! You did well to share with your dad, im no good at sharing lol.
Yeah its 2/3 superfree, 2hexs and count the higher syn values on synned stuff.
Im hoping if i do it for the three days it might counteract the chocolate- which by the way i am still troughing, no willpower this wkend- so i might get into the 10s at WI!

Hey how's it going? Not sure if I have achieved success express but I feel mostly positive! I had all 15syns on Sunday and It felt bad! But was on plan, and I have been this wk so far.
Good luck getting your half stone!
what day do you WI? X

Sounds good, I had all 15 on Sunday too don't worry :D thanks, I weigh in on Saturday mornings, you? Xx

It still feels alien being able to eat so much! I WI on a Thursday! A bit worried but I always am lol.
I was thinking about moving to a Saturday morning weigh in! It would keep me on track on Friday, and if I had a blow out Sat id have chance to catch up lol. Do you go to group? X

Youre doing very well I'm sure you'll be in for a loss this week :) it's good Saturday morning as my most naughty time are Saturday nights  I'm going to be good this weekend though as doing the manchester 10k on Sunday. Yeah I go to one near me and stay for the group, it's really good and you get some good tips and support from other members :) xx

Wow a 10k! Are you a runner? I used to walk fair distances but can't seem to get my fitness back up before my knee starts packing in! I try and swim instead. Best of luck for it!
Saturday wi may be the way forward!
I was looking at your target and was wondering how tall you are? Im trying to figure out a good target for myself and originally thought id aim for 10st. I was this weight for my 21st. But looking back at the pics, I think a bit more wouldn't hurt- i dont want to look ill but "slim"...

I wouldn't say I was very good at running haha I am reasonably active, I go to the gym 3-4 time a week for 45 mins as i do an office job and drive so I don't get much other exercise lol. Thanks :) I used to love swimming but I started doing running and cross trainer as it's easier before work for washing my hair haha.

I'm 5ft2 and a half so usually round up to 5ft3 haha I was around 8st7 when I came to Uni 6 years ago and feel that was about right. I want to be toned also and more healthy than I was then (I used to live off microwave meals and alcohol lol). I'd say 10stone is a good target for your height, go with whatever makes you feel the most comfortable :)

Thanks for the advice! When I eventually get to 10 ill see how I feel lol :) I remember feeling a million dollars when I was 10st before, but I think so much is state of mind.
Wow thats dedication to the gym! Im rubbish n never go, its so much effort! Do you do any classes? I think i should sign up for something and commit lol.
What did you do at Uni if you don't mind me asking? I am an 'eternal student' haha x

The gym is effort, it's become routine now tho :) I used to go to abs class but I haven't been for ages, may go once I've lost a bit of weight to help with toning up. I did English language for my undergraduate and sociology for my postgrad :) how about you? X

Its good that you've made it a habit! I used to go when I couldn't think of a good enough reason not to. I suppose now there always seems to be a reason! Need to prioritise I think.
I was thinking about trying something like spinning.. I have zero core strength! Or I like the idea of yoga/pilates but hear its difficult!
Ah you did English! I was torn when I went to uni, how did you find it? Are you still in uni or is your office job something else? I ended up going with a bit of a mixture of Psychology, criminology and counselling. My MSc and PhD are in health psychology, its quite nice really. Its quite a positive subject compared to some of the grim stuff i have had to study lol x

Ive never done spinning but I've heard it's awful haha :D

i did my MA part time and handed in my dissertation at the end of March and I'm waiting for results :) ooh are you a full time PHD student? I did psychology at a level and liked it x
