Week 6 and disheartened with low weight losses advice please?

Hi, I am new to both SW and this forum so hello all. I have been at SW for 6 weeks and weigh in on a Monday tea time, I am a little disheartened with the low losses I am achieving and I know a loss is a loss. But I want to ensure that I am totally on plan and need advice.

I think perhaps my portion sizes are too large I am using my super free, I wonder how some of the SW members continue to achieve 2-3lb losses each week?

Help please xx

Hi :) im new too.

have you done a food diary to see what you're eating?it may just be that you loose it more slowly but if you keep it off all good. How much have you been loosing and do you go to classes?it may be that tiny adjustments make a difference. I've done sw before and found that combining it with exercise is better this time as the buzz from exercise makes me want to eat well and vice versa, plus the obvious bonus I'm burning calories.

Good luck and keep it up, if you're loosing that's brilliant. If you lost 1lb a week for a year thats nearly 4st :)

Hi....Im new too. 6 weeks in and have lost 9lbs so far. Was feeling delighted with my progresss, but got on scales today and nothing!!! no change since last week and I haven't done anything different. (sad face). Well....possibly.....the only change is I stopped doing my food diaries. Could this be it? anyway....just wondered if other people have experienced the staying the same experience. I think I read somewhere on this site that it is sometimes better to only do a monthly weigh-in. Might try this too. Any advice/encouragement welcome :))

I don't have 'free' portions of carbs (potatoes, pasta, rice) I have modest portions. But I do have large protein, fruit and veg portions. A lot of carbs has always slowed my weight loss and gives me food cravings. Moderate carbs, good fats (nuts, olive oil, coconut oil, dairy), free portions protein/veg/fruit are what works for me - but I ensure I stick to the SW eating frame with Super free foods, free protein, Hex a & Hex b and about 10 syns per day.

Good luck. xx

Hi there. I think you're beating yourself up a bit here. You've lost 9lbs in 6 weeks and that's really good. Don't worry about not losing one time. Our bodies are a law unto themselves sometimes. Lots of people have weeks when they've done everything they can and either put on or maintained. That's life. I would continue with your food diaries. It seemed to work for you. Keep at it. Personally I love going to group and look forward to getting weighed weekly. I'm not sure monthly weigh-in's would be a good thing really. Why not join one of the challenges on here? That might take your mind off things. Keep us posted!! :)

What am I doing wrong and i've exercised 2 times this week for 1 hour at a time. Any advice much appreciated.

I too am very disheartened. I'm on week 5. First week-nothing lost, second week I thought I was flying, lost 3 lbs. Third week to my shock and horror I put up 1 lb. then for week 4 I did a EESP week. This is usually guaranteed a big loss but guess what? a lousy 1\2 lb. My consultant is very baffled as to why I'm not loosing much. She has looked carefully at my food diaries which are very accurate.I stick rigidly to plan, have tons of speed foods with every meal, most recipes are slimming world ones with no syns. I use my HEX A and HEX B. I do limit my syns to around 4 as I'm not loosing much. Any advice very gratefully accepted.

Your body won't go into starvation mode unless you're eating significantly less calories than most people eat, it's a bit of a myth.

i second what others say, you need to increase your speed foods, it needs to be a third speed food on your plate, so green veggies etc.

Well you won't lose weight if you're not eating significantly less calories than most people eat. Decreasing your calories by any amount will slow your resting metabolic rate. Eating 5-10 syns fewer is 100-200 calories lower than what is already a low-calorie diet and that is enough to make a difference.

Yes but you would need to be eating seriously low amounts of calories to reduce your metabolic rate enough to slow weight loss significant. This person is eating 1 syn less than the minimum amount, that's not going to slow weight loss.

Hi there. Again as I said before, our bodies are a law unto themselves. Sometimes we lose when we think we've gained and vice versa. You say 'most' of the recipes you use are SW ones. I would try to make all of them SW friendly and see how that goes. What's your portion size like? Are you drinking enough water? It's really important to get plenty of fluids. Have a full glass of water before every meal see if that kick starts you. Keep at it. Your body will give in to your new healthy lifestyle. Good luck!! Keep us posted. :)

Thanks guys. Well weighed myself yesterday and have lost 2lb lastweek.
So delighted. Now that's 6lb in 5 weeks. I think I have to up my speed foods.
Thanks for the advice.

Was just reading comment Cherrybobs said I was lacking eating speed foods.
All speed foods I have had lastweek:-

Tomatoes
Banana
Orange
Cabbage
Turnip
Lettuce
Carrots
Beans
Brocoli
Parsnip
Peppers
Beetroot
Mushy Peas

Quite a lot of Speed foods here I think.

They're not all speed foods. Bananas, Beans, Parsnips, and Mushy Peas are definitely NOT speed foods.

Hi I'm new to here too, I've found that I've not being eating enough (strange thing to say I know) so when I joined SW and began having breakfast, lunch and dinner and some not all syn's allowed the weight, albeit 1, sometime 2lbs at a time, came off.
The other thing I've done is to buy a cash book where I can log the amount I have, in the left hand column I can put i.e. 3 main column lean bacon and the next column whether it's free, A or B choice and the last column syn value.
I've also worked out how many syn's for the week and do a rolling calculation, it's 105 for the week so if I have say 12 one day that leaves me with 93 I put 12 at the bottom of the page and then on the next page I put the date and in the far right column I put 93 as the remaining syn's

Hey polly what are your portion sizes like best to have more protein an speed ( your veg or salad) an a small portion of carbs I.e your spuds or pasta start a food diary an then can see what your eating. I think extra easy plan is a lot to do with portion control.
