New Year New Me - Weekly Weight Loss Diary
So, I have been trying to stick to Slimming World for a month now. I tried it 5 years ago and lost a fair bit of weight, but was doing it alongside my house mates at the time and was easy to motivate each other and go to gym classes.
5 years on, I am married and getting toooo comfortable!
We have a beach holiday to Mexico planned for 14th April alongside my STUNNING and SKINNY sister in laws. I absolutely HAVE to get to my goal weight in order to enjoy myself fully and not feel self concious.
My weight loss diary may be a bit sporadic, as for some reason minimins doesn't let me post from my phone and so it will have to wait until I am on my laptop each week, which only tends to be at weekends. Or sometimes on a Wednesday, which is my weight in day.
This diary is primarily for myself, but followers, comments and advice/support are obviously always welcomed.
In 1 month I have lost 11lbs. Which I know is really good. Although, I still have a long way to go. AND don't look any different!!!

Week 1 Update
It is always easier in your first week, especially after Xmas and New Year. I was terribly bloated and so the weight fell off relatively quick. Also, the motivation has well and truely kicked in so I was REALLY good at sticking to the plan. OH has been sticking to it with me as well which has really helped. I have also ensured that I went to the gym twice this week before I start back at work on Monday.
A good week to boost my confidence and incentive!
Week 2 Update
Again a good week! Me and OH are well and truely into the swing of things with planning our meals and being back at work now means I have no time to snack. All Xmas treats and chocolate left overs have been hidden, given away or chucked in the bin. Havent found the time to gym this week as so tired, but me and OH did do a fitness DVD for half an hour one night this week.
Motivation and incentive still high!
Week 3 Update
Was naughty this week and weighed myself mid week which knocked my confidence as I hadnt lost any weight. Must have more willpower and wait until weigh in as was pleasantly suprised. Have treated myself to chocolate a couple of nights this week and gone over to 12 syns on a couple of days. But still really pleased I am still hitting a loss. Starting to slow down now, and also havent been to the gym so need to get back on track with that next week.
Week 4 Update - 1 Month Dieting
People say that a maintain is better than a gain, which is obviously true, but there is nothing more disappointing than not losing any weight.
However, I knew it would happen as we went to Nandos this week and treated ourselves to a main and a dessert and promised that we wouldnt worry about syns etc. It had been a planned blow out day that was supposed to help up stick to the diet for the first month, as we had a treat day to count down to. In fairness, it worked!
Should have gone to the gym to counter act the amount of calories consumed, but havent had the energy. Will ensure i go or at least do my DVD at the weekend. OH is working away Thurs-Sun so I have a few days on my own. Willpower is going to be necessary!
Also have 2 days at work with baking and buying cakes for charity, so will allow some flexibility on syns those days i guess. February is going to be a tough month for dieting. We have cake sales at work, my birthday (where I am out with OH, friends (x2 sets) and parents, all seperately!) and a 3 night city break to Paris. I will just have to good on the days where nothing is happening, but I'm not going to let a diet ruin my birthday or holiday.
However, to avoid gain (and try to just maintain for a few weeks) I am going to HAVE to exercise at least twice a week. And for my birthday with OH I am trying to find a nice SW recipe to cook instead of going out. Plus, my parents have asked what plan I will be following when we go out (which will be Red) and they have booked a table at a steak and grill restaurant, so that I have an opportunity to stick to my diet with a lot of choice (although theres no way I'll be saying no to chips with my steak.... haha!) My meal with friends is afternoon tea, with sandwiches and cake (on a green day). I can only attempt to have wholemeal sandwiches and try to choose cheese and egg based fillings rather than meat, then try to calculate syns for mayo, marg and then of course the cake. The second celebration with friends is cocktails. I may try to stick to vodka and soda water or something with less syns?
I am not going to be following plans when I am away in Paris. But I will try not to eat like too much of a pig! My date for my first mini goal is 3 weeks away (just before we head to Paris). At the minute I am 4lbs off. I would be over the moon if I could hit it before we go! (and then obviously expect to have gained by the time we arrive home!)
Any advice on how to be good for my birthday but without being too strict and spoiling my own fun would be greatly appreciated!

Week 5 Update
YAY! Not sure how i managed this. I have been relatively good but not very strict at all! OH got a really good new job offer yesterday so we had a huge Dominoes feast, and I had alot of treats and sweets at work this week!
Really pleased as this weekend and next week are birthday celebrations and I am bound to put on a few pounds so I needed to put myself in a good position going into that
Only 1lbs off my first mini goal now!
Week 6 mid week update.
Struggling to find motivation today after celebrating my birthday all weekend and pretty much eating what I want and drank lots of alcohol. Today I have mostly stuck to free food and had about 6 syns over all (french fries with lunch and stock cube to make soup for tea....although someone told me those are free now?) But I just feel so bloated and gross after the last 3 days.
I am disappointed with myself as I was going to try and be as good as possible, but that didnt really happen.
I know it was my birthday but if I gain this week (which I will now) I'll be gutted and wanted to avoid that.
Actual birthday tomorrow and having slimming world recipe fish and chips to make myself feel better.
DREADING weigh in on Wednesday. Actually dreading it. I will be powering and hammering the gym next week to burn the guilt away.
Week 6 Update
Loss 0lbs, maintained.
So tonight was the dreaded weigh in after my bday weekend & OH new job celebrations and......
Do not feel it though, feel so bloated etc & sure there's something wrong with my scales!! Some of it might carry over into next week so if I'm good next week hoping for maybe another maintain or small loss! Then it's off to Paris for a week!!
Week 7 Update
At first, I was disappointed with this loss, as I have been relatively good most of this week. But then I remembered that OH and I had a blow out on Friday for Valentine's. Plus, my bday celebrations are probably still catching up with me.
On a positive note, that 1lb has taken me to my first mini goal of 9st 7lbs! Yay! And in good time too, wanted to hit that target by 21st Feb (half way to target date). So although a small loss, not one to turn my nose up at. A pound is a pound and is in the right direction and all those other clichés!
4 days left of being good (need to save some suns for alcohol on Sat night....anniversary party....although half considering driving....but don't want to prompt pregnancy rumours again!!!), and then it's 4 days diet-free in Paris where I'll no doubt gain half a stone!!

Week 8 Update
been in Paris for 4days and stopped dieting the weekend before...so had a whole week off diet. Massively expected, so no big deal. But for some reason I'm really disappointed. I worked so hard to hit my first mini goal weight & now i have to hit it again!
the big holiday to Mexico (& the reason for this diet in the first place!) is now in 6 weeks.
i have 6 weeks to lose 14-16lbs.
thats a big challenge.
do-able, but requires a big commitment. And additional exercise.
thats 2.5-3lbs loss each week! Week.
i'll be so gutted if I don't hit it though. And next to my stick thin sister in laws, I'll ruin my holiday feeling like a whale.
BRING. IT. ON.
Week 9 Update
So, I am back where I started before I went away, which is good news. And back to my first mini goal weight.
Need to work hard for the next 5 weeks now, need to lose 12lbs in 5 weeks. At a rate of 2.5lbs a week, it's going to be soooo tough. Especially because I have celebrations every week in those 5 weeks!! Eek!!
I can stay off alcohol for all but 2 of them (i know, i know, alcohol is not necessary, but 2 of them are bdays of my close friends and i just wouldnt enjoy myself if not.) But all of them include meals, where I will have to plan my red/green days very carefully and possibly just starve myself all day prior to try and balance the syns? I figure I always try to have a red day on a meal out day, as most meals I order when I am out (and probably most non-veggie eaters) are meat based with some potato and veg based side. So i can either be really good (ha, yeah right!) and ask for no carbs, or try and order something with new potatoes rather than chips where I would have some HEB allowance anyway, or would be less syns when counted. Eugh. Hurts my brain. Although, knowing that I have these each weekend will hopefully boost me towards being better in the week.
Hopefully going to a gym class every Monday now too, with a friend, so that will help me along the way. Need to try and go at weekends too, but it's hard when I'm away celebrating to get to the gym on Sunday by the time I come home, and then have work to do.
Anyway, to end on a positive. Back at 9st 7lbs. Which, again-positively, is my wedding weight too.
Week 10 Update
Really wasn't expecting a loss this week as ate badly and drank all weekend, perhaps it will catch up with me next week.
10lbs left to go, in 4 weeks! Eeek. Tough! Still puts me at a target of 2.5 pw, which I doubt will happen, but gota try! Went clothes shopping at weekend and fit nicely into most size 10s so to be comfortable would be great!
Week 11 Update
Disappointed, as today was a mini goal date for me and I'm 4lbs off :-(
i now have 3.5 weeks to lose 8-10lbs.
im finding this last slog so hard and I don't know why as I should be finding it the most motivating as the holiday is only 3.5 weeks away.
