Help needed for that one week each month (with apologies to our male friends)

First of all I apologise if this has been discussed before but I did a forum search and didn't find it, and secondly apologies to all the men in our site but this is a female problem.

I have two issues about the week of my period.
The first is that no matter how good I have been and how well I stick to the plan, in that week I never lose and often put on pounds.
The second is that in the week leading up to my period I want to shovel anything into my mouth. I will eat anything that doesn't move fast enough.

    So the questions are....
Does anyone else find this happens to them? How do you cope with the cravings? Thanks in advance for advice.

Try green or peppermint tea, it helps with bloat and gets your metabolism moving faster x

Peggy - i'm a boy (but i did physiology & sports science), you probably know that fluid retention is a main reason for the variations in weight, you'll find plenty of advice regarding safe (& natural) diuretics, but i wouldn't fight it too much - your body knows what its doing, honest!

Regarding snacking & cravings, i'm a big believer that keeping busy (esp when you know you'll be vulnerable to snack attacks) helps massively. For me it was switching off as soon as i'd had dinner and spending all night in front of TV & surfing...this inevitably lead to a bit of casual boozing and snacking on crap...my new rule for 2014 is no TV/web before 9pm...i use the time to prepare healthy lunch meals, house admin, paperwork, going to the gym or anything to keep me busy & out of the living room!

In fact, i'm sat on my butt now watching TV when i should be ironing!!!

I get migraines, bloat, terrible painful constipation and stomach cramps. The chocolate cravings I can cope with these days but all I want to do is lie in bed in a darkened room! Can't even think about the gym!! I hate it, no winder I take my pill back to back some months to avoid this situation!

If you have a gain every month, but it goes again the following week, I'd not worry about it too much. I sometimes gain a few pounds when I've my period, but I'm not surprised that I do, because my stomach is so bloated and "full" feeling as I get on the scales. This is regardless of what I've been eating. But over the month I can have good losses, and the period gain only lasts a couple of days. So, it might be an idea to accept it and view your losses monthly. As long as you're not having a "real" gain and blaming it on your period, it should even out (I've done that!)

Re the cravings, would you cut up a large bowl of fruit like a melon and pineapple? You could pick away at those.
