Why is Friday night hard

hel8

I'm just looking!
OH and kids are out, sitting here on my own and I feel like crying, and on the verge of a binge, I feel like I'm being punished, even tho it's my own fault for being fat, GOD I hate Friday night:cry:I guess it's jealousy.

Aww hun please don't feel like that.

What exactly do you think you're jealous of? Have you used all of your syns or is there a few left to 'treat' yourself to something? Maybe if this is a recurring feeling you could save your syns for the evening on a friday? This is the plan where nothing is off limits, its just everything in moderation.
Is there something you could do instead of eating? reading, knitting, paint you nails, play xbox. ANYTHING that distracts you from eating.x.x.

Hi Abisaurus, I think because I used to have a good drink and goodies on a friday night, I'm really missing it, and I'm worried if I have a taster I'll mess up, which I don't want to do as it's so early on in the plan, I feel I can't risk it.

Well give yourself a massive well done for identifying the issue!

Could you do a spirit and mixer for your drink? And there are some FAB alternatives for goodies, some amazing 'fake aways' if you want to save syns and have a whole meal. Or if you like to opt for pringles/doritos why not weigh out and syn however many you're willing to spend on syns and then serve it with a syn free dip and some veggie sticks? You'll be getting a treat but upping your superfree :)

Or is there something else you like that we can maybe find a SW version of?

I think it could be SO helpful for you to find an alternative this early into the plan. Otherwise you might feel like you are in a straight jacket and just give in or binge.
.x.x.x.

That's the problem my Friday nights consisted of 6 cans of Stella, a big bag of chilli peanuts, crisps, cheese and crackers, ( hence my weight) I feel there's no substitute for these, so the sooner I get over my jealousy that everyone' s down the pub, I may stand a chance, sorry about the winge, I couldn't help it, and thank you so much for your suggestions it means a lot. Thanks. Helen x

sitting here on my own and I feel like crying, and on the verge of a binge.

Ahhhh! I know this feeling oh so well! It's part of why I registered on here today - to get more support in the evenings. I gobbled a load of lasagne crisps tonight (done with BBQ Fry-Light, yum!) just to get my inner munch-monster satisfied - but I do get jealous when my hubby cracks open the REAL crisps! Have been so naughty lately, staying up until everyone is in bed, then munching away my unused syns (and then some!) on whatever tasty stuff I can find in the kitchen. :(

Why is it that I feel the need to snack and munch when I'm on my own???

This is the place you CAN whinge and NEVER have to feel guilty! :)

A suggestion for an alternative to nuts- roasted chick peas? Get a tin, open and rinse them in a sieve. dry them on kitchen paper/towel. Pop in a bowl, spray with fry lightm, sprinkle in your seasoning of choice (chilli powder! cayenne, paprika, garlic even sweetener and cinnamon!) place on a baking tray in a single layer pop them in the oven on about 140 for 30-45 minutes (depending on your oven and how crunchy you like them) Bobs your uncle a FREE slimming world treat!

6 cans of stella- could you maybe have a 1 or 2 with lemonade to make a shandy? or maybe switch to vodka, rum, whisky or gin with a free mixer? Adding fresh lemon or lime ups your superfree ;)

Cheese- use your healthy extra a choice and crackers are relatively low syn. Again this is something you can serve with veggie sticks, grapes and sliced apple- up your superfree while having a yummy treat.

And not everyone is down the pub, Im in my pjs watching bad tv (though I do have my glass of wine counted as my syns for the day :) ) .x.x.

Thanks Abisaurus, some very good suggestions there, I'm deffinatley going to try them next week, thank you so much x

You're more than welcome love, if you ever need any help or anything please ask. You are so not the only one but there is always an alternative.

I was the same as you when I started and felt almost deprived. Instead of going cold turkey I synned the crisps I wanted, then would limit how many syns I was willing to spend on them. Now, 10 months in they actually make me feel pretty ill if I eat too many. My body isnt used to the rubbish they contain, where as I can eat SW alternatives as much as I want and Im fine.

We do it when we are alone because there is nobody to judge us. Its only our own will power to stop us. Just remember how much it means to you. Could you also maybe make your own little 'treat box'. I have one which contains things like- freddos, fudge bars, hot choc, french fries, quavers- things that are less than 5 syns basically so I know if I want a treat, even if I have had my syns for the day, and not COMPLETELY blow it. And its something thats all for me, rather than other people can have whatever they want and its me missing out.

.x.x.x.

I'm not bothered by chocolate, there's a fridge full of it, not interested, it's the savoury things I love, I'm so excited about what flavour to do my chickpeas next week, can't wait :)

Fab :)

I wish I wasnt bothered by chocolate haha. Have you tried things like the slimming world chips and potato wedges? ( the cheesey chips especially are amazing- and feel so naughty having them) .x.x.

Aww bless I'm sat in on a friday night too. Waiting to play taxi for the teenage daughter so my good friend Al Cohol is off limits too. For my Friday night treat I've just had mushy pea curry sauce with chicken onions mushrooms and rice followed by melon strawberries blueberries banana and fat free vanilla yoghurt. All syn free and full of super free and super speed foods I think (I'm new to SW too and just trying to get my head around it). Hope you're feeling brighter soon :)

Thanks Col, don't you just hate the taxi run, especially when they've had a drink:( how is the mushy pea curry? Iv'e been thinking about that

the mushy pea/ 3 tin curry is AMAZING and a great quick fix tea.

YES cheesey chips! The SW chips are amazing on their own, add cheese and yo would think its super high in syns when its only your healthy A choice (or around 6 syns) If you serve it a foil tray too it feels like a take away. Theirs also the SW kebab and Chinese which are FAB

Chips- baking potatoes cut into chips (size and amount to suit you). Put in a bowl with a little boiling water, pop into microwave for 10 minutes (7 minutes or so if you're not making many- I always make LOADS) then drain the water and use the sieve/collander to give them a shake and 'rough them up a little' add back to the bowl, COAT in fry light, add any salt/pepper/spices you like, spread into a single layer and bang into the oven 160 for around 30 minutes (depending on how well done you like them. if youre doing them cheesey style pop them onto a plate or foil tray, add the cheese pop back into the oven until melted and then ENJOY! .x.x.

Awesome! Honestly there is nothing you CANT have and very few things there arent alternatives for on this plan.

Yes the taxi run is such a pain I'm sure I'm not that bad when I've had a few lol. Ooooh the curry is an absolute must it's awesome, quick, easy, very tasty n filling. I had indian restaurant treat last week with family which cost a fortune and I managed to gain 1 1/2llb :( I can honestly say tonights curry was better than last weeks and was as cheap as chips to make. Plenty left for tomorrow to have with jacket spud or SW wedges :)

Thanks again guys, feeling much better, now I've got chickpeas, mushy pea curry and cheese and chips to be getting on with :)
