Thread: Oats v's other grains

    Every morning I'm having porridge made with alternative to oats (bulgar wheat, quinoa, buckwheat, barley etc...) am I kidding myself this is ok as they are free foods. I just can't be convinced that these won't make me put on weight any more than oats would. There can't be much difference surely???!!!!

    I used to have porridge made from quinoa and couscous and it never affected my weight loss. I think as long as it's part of a main meal it doesn't do any harm as it's being used as it should be to fill you up, it's not like you're snacking on it between meals. I would eat it and see what happens with your weight if it affects it stop. x
