never ending

Does anyone feel like their journey will never end?

I've struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. Im 22 and at 16 I weighed 12stone 7ish. Thats the lowest I remember weighing and I wasnt happy at that.

18month ago I went on lipotrim (3shakes per day nothing else) for 8 weeks and went from 16stone 7 down to 13stone 13. Xmas came and up I went 8lbs but managed to drop another 4. Then came the holidays from uni and it all went back on so November I took the plunge and joined slimming world at 16stone 7 again.

I weigh in tomorrow but last week I was 14stone 9lb. Yes its coming down and my first goal is 12.7 but will I ever get there? It feels like so far away. And thats probably not even my final goal. And I dont know what ill look like at what weight so what do I do about my final target. Need a magic wand! Hehe

It may feel like it is really far away but you will get there. You have already done amazingly!

The thing with doing SW and actually eating healthy is so you can keep it off even when you are down to target.

I know that's why im trying to stick at it. It would be much quicker and feel more rewarding to do a crash diet but it will only go back on! Must stick to it!

Hi Natalie
I can relate to this!
Since childhood I have struggled with weight issues, was happy at my target of 10st 2 years ago but put lots on since.
It feels like a constant battle.
Although I've only been on sw about 10wks I can see that it is a sustainable way not only of weight loss but importantly keeping it off long term.
IMO essentially its the healthy, balanced diet that everyone should follow, wrapped up and packaged in words like "superfree" and "healthy extra" that make it understandable and achieveable! I would recommend setting some mini targets to keep you motivated, set some non-food related rewards and remember there is always a helpful person on hand here when you need it :)

The best way to approach this is small goals (half a stone at a time). If you put all your focus on 3, 4, 5 or more stone (whatever each individual wants to lose) it feels like you will never get there. Hope that makes sense. :)

I can totally relate to this!
I've struggled with my weight since forever! I was never a slim child (in fact I'm probably lighter now than I was at maybe 11!)

At class last week I lost 1lb taking me half a pound from target. It's been a long hard battle for many many years and the last few pounds have been unbearable for me- just so hard to shift but all the way through my journey there have been certain weights that I've struggled to beat.
For example, I struggled to get below 10 stone and one point- I spent sooo long with a pound on/pound off but then eventually I beat it. The same happened at 9'7 and then again at 9.

I'm now beginning to reassess what has become an obsession with numbers. I'm putting far too much pressure on myself to hit a certain number and forgetting the whole picture. For me, slimming world will be my way of eating for life so I'm taking the pressure off myself from now on and going with the flow!
Best of luck!

Glad its not just me. I set myself a two stone first mini goal which I am 1lb off. Since feb ive been 1 off two on two off 1 on. So feel like its not moving.

Got my motivation back. My mini goal for myself is another stone before end of may for my aunties hen night. However my group goal will be another two stone just so I dont have to keep updating hehe

The for the wedding at end of august I want my 4.5stone award. This equates to me losing either 1-2 lb most weeks. Then ill be the lowest I can remember. The only negative is my 85pound dress I bought for my graduation which I planned to wear to wedding will be too big. Better get saving hehe

I think it's all about being in the right frame of mind. I've joined and rejoined SW a number of times in the past 8 years, but since the weight crept back on after the first time around (aged 15) the most I've lost is 1 stone before throwing it in. This time I feel like I'm consciously making the right food choices and as the losses happen, the more I want to keep it up and achieve my goal :)
Just try to keep your head in it and not think about the overall loss too much, it'll all be gone before you know it! It might be an idea to go shopping for the dress in the size you want to be now and hang it on your wardrobe for you to wake up and see every day. This could be a great motivation, it worked for me for prom!

I felt exactly the same last week, couldnt stop thinking about how much weight I still had to lose & had serious doubts about even bothering.I had a night off plan & thankfully the next morning I was positive again & have had a really good week.Hope you feel better today x

The only way you won't reach your target is if you give up trying... just chip away at it 1lb by 1lb and you will get there.

You could sell your dress to help fund another dress... it's the final term of the school year and a lot of girls will now be looking for a prom dress.

Good luck!

Feeling positive. Just got home from weigh in. 3lb off, a lb under my first target, my 2 stone award and slimmer of the week. I can do this!.

And yes ill either be selling the dress or having it altered (or keeping it to remind me never to go there again)!

Actually, your journey will never end. Even though I've been at target for almost a year, I still have to be mindful of what I eat, and keep to plan 100% every day. Probably not the most helpful post, but I'd add my two penneth worth!
