Exercise and Weightloss

Hi,
I can't find a section for this so hope its in the right place.
I've been on SW since the beginning of Nov and lost 1st3lb already but the weekly weight loss is starting to slow down. I thought adding some more exercise would be good so am aiming to go to the gym twice a week as well as continuing with hockey once a week.
How does exercise effect everyone weight loss? I've heard that to start with it might not have a massive impact because of water retention around muscles. Is this true? What have people experienced?

I eat for weight loss and exercise for health and mood. I've done all the combinations until I realised that weight loss is about what goes in my mouth, no matter how long I am in the gym for!

Last time I got to goal my exercise levels increased as I got lighter and lighter - possibly due to the fact that it was easier, I had more energy and I actually found some things I enjoyed doing, such as taekwondo and aquafit (I started off just walking each morning when I was bigger). I ended up losing around eight stone in ten months so I'd say yes, exercise definitely helps the weight to keep coming off. Someone wise once said to me that she dieted so she'd look good in her clothes and exercised so she'd look good without them :) and I found that very true as all the activity certainly helped with toning me up as I went along. Best of luck in finding activities you enjoy!

Love this!

I went to the gym on Monday. Ached soooo much afterward but was all good aching. Might go swimming too.

This month I've started the 10,000 steps challenge. I know it's not the gym or anything, but I'm hoping it helps since I work in an office and sit around all day. I'm hoping to lose 3lbs this week by sticking to the SW plan 100% and doing the 10,000 steps every single day (even though that means getting off my backside at lunchtime and walking for an hour!).

Good luck everyone! :)

not sure if this gives any insight - i am doing a 200 mile cycle in may so need to train a lot to get to the right level. I go to the gym 5 days a week, with work outs aimed at 500 - 750 cal burning sessions. I have not noticed much impact on my weightloss to be honest, except that i was alot hungrier. This week my consultant said to eat more, but obvs only more free food - ( i thought i could have more syns :( ) having said that, this week is going great, i am eating a lot more, working out same levels and feel better over all. WI is on sat so fingers crossed! i'll be trying SP next week to boost it...

Thank Londonlass :) Great insight. Was worrying as I hadn't lost more but exercised loads.Hopefully I will see a different in maybe in a few weeks tho.
