Hitting The Wall

Hi all.

Does anyone else ever feel like no matter what you do, you've hit a wall and the weight just doesn't seem to be coming off?

I've had a couple of weeks with little to no weight lost, and tonight (one day before weigh in) I weighed myself in my scales at home and I don't appear to have lost.

I've been as good as gold this week, accounted for every last syn, drank plenty of water and kept a food diary. There is no reason why I shouldn't have lost.

I don't know about anyone else but my losses are so unpredictable, it can make it difficult to stay motivated sometimes. Because it's not as simple as knowing that if you're good all week, you'll get a decent loss.

Does anyone have any tips on keeping motivated or getting past this phase?

Thanks x

When I hit a wall, which happened literally every time I've done slimming world, I would get to 14 st 4 and then just stop, which would lead to me eventually throwing in the towel.

This time I hit it again, as I knew I would ( I think I'm meant to be this weight lol ) and thought " hell no!" no more!

So I ramped it up and did 4 sp days. It did the trick. I sailed through the mark, after getting stuck the for nearly a month. I was over the moon.

Mate, if I can do it, you can.

I really do understand how you feel, but please please, don't give up. You have done so well already. Take a look back and see now far you have come.

It will happen, it will. Xxxxx

Thanks GEM :) I know realistically it's just a phase and it'll be over soon but it's just so disheartening knowing you've been good all week and you're not getting the rewards for it.

Weigh in, as you know, is tomorrow officially, so it might be a different story when I go to group, fingers crossed. If it isn't though I'm going to have to figure out a way to give myself a real kick start. I thought a food diary would do it.

I can't manage SP past the end of the third day, and haven't ever seen any difference in my losses from doing it. However something I did start doing was to try following SP in the day, i.e. only having speed and protein when I'm in work, and then having rice or potatoes with my tea when I got home. That seemed to keep me on track and I had a few weeks where I was consistantly losing 1.5 - 2lbs a week.

I'm gonna try and get back to that next week I think. It's difficult when your losses don't follow any kind of pattern usually though!

My trouble as well is that I look back on the 1 stone 11lbs that I've lost and all I can think is how badly I want to lose more and get my next certificate, rather than how well I've done so far. I do need to learn how to appreciate how far I've come to help keep me motivated.

I agree about sp. I only managed 4 days. And im in no hurry to do it again! Lol

But, it does seem to do the trick. My carb portions are smaller now than before, and it did give me the boost I so desperately needed at the time. I imagine my wall will come back and i will have to do the same again, but like I said, I'm in no hurry.

Sometimes all we need is stop, turn around and see how far we've come to appreciate where we are now.

I just want to get weigh in out of the way tonight. I've got 5 days off work after tomorrow so I'll have a bit more freedom with what I can make. Hoping that will help to kick start me because I've gotten into the habit of eating very similarly from day to day.

Best of luck Emma.

Im nearly always about here if you need any help x

I hope WI went well, Emma and you managed a loss. Whatever the result was, don't give up! I always try to make one new recipe per week and that way, I don't get bored. :)

How you getting on mate? X

Sorry guys, totally forgot to let you know how I went on. I maintained, as predicted. I'm off work until Thursday this week, which is WI day, so I've got a bit more freedom with what I can make, and also I find I eat less when I'm not in work anyway. Hoping for a loss this week.

Don't worry about me giving up, I know too well that this plan works to give up on it. Just a bump in the road is all :)

Thank you for all your support, it really does help to know you can come on here and have a good rant when things aren't great! Xxxx
