Hi, I do not wish to stir up a hornets nest, but I have been comparing some product nutritional values and discovered some things are not as suggested. Slimming world is blinking marvelous, dont get me wrong, but they can heavily promote some branded foods. I have been checking online and on the back of some packets and found that some supermarket, (mainly Aldi and Lidl,) equivilents actually have better nutritional values, i.e. less calories and fat, than the branded ones. Yet SW say these have syn value but the branded ones are free??? I will be havingthe supermarket ones for now and it will be interesting to see if it affects my losses. Has anyone else found this?
Can you give some examples? I really don't think this is the case though xx
Hi, yeah, both aldi and lidl muller style choc sprinkle yogurts are the same when it comes to the nv on the back of the pots, and the aldi cheese and brocolli pasta in sauce is too (not checked out the chicken one yet). If there are any slight differences they are soo minor that they couldn't make any difference. I'll see how I get on using them as free foods for a couple of weeks, but to be honest I don't have the pasta often.
The syns for the aldi pasta and sauces are given for the product made up as directed which will include syns for the milk. If just using water then the syn value would be reduced
As for the yoghurts, the aldi and lidl ones have added sugar not just sweeteners as far as I know. I don't use them as they aren't veggie friendly
Hi patchwork, Ive checked again this morning what I have here and the Lidl yogurt has less calories, and less sugars, everything else is the same. I know its not very scientific but that will do for me , for now at least whilst I see how my weight loss goes. Well done for your great loss by the way.

Have you put the nutritional values through the syn checker?? Its the only way to be sure.
I don't think it has anything to do with some foods being branded. It is what it is, SW have a formula for working SYNS out and it's as simple as that. Even if certain foods are only slightly nutritionally different, it can make the difference of half a SYN. Less fat in a food item doesn't mean it's better or less SYNS.
Trust SW, it works.....simple.
