It's cold out here on step 3...anyone out there?

I have just started step 3 after 2 weeks at step 2. I have 2lbs to go before I get to my goal. I am really struggling with food and the urge to binge and, worse still, to throw it all up (something I thought was over). There are lots of people doing SS or step 2 but hardly any going further up the steps which worries me - are people falling off the wagon beforehand? I would love to hear from anyone going up the steps - does it get easier? I was so looking forward to food but now miss the security of sole source.

Hi! Well done on your fab weight loss! Amazing!

I've been on step 3 for about four weeks and trust me it does get easier! Once I had got over my fear that eating food would instantly make me bloat and put on half a stone, I have found the freedom of step three great! Losing about two lbs a week which i'm happy with plus am introducing exercise into my routine. I have more energy which is also good!

I only focus on the allowed foods and weigh all carbs and protein carefully, and tbh have not been particularly hungry.

Stick with it and you'll be at goal before you know it!

Thanks for posting Poppy - I was beginning to think I was alone here. Sadly I fell off the wagon on Tuesday - major binge - have struggled all week. I spoke to CDC tonight and she suggested keeping cottage cheese close by so that if I feel weak I don't overload on carbs. I think that the sugar in all the fruit I was having has made me crave sweet things so I may have porridge instead of the fruit option.
Fortunately I have still lost 1lb so I don't feel all is lost - probably due to the amount of exercise I am doing - I have found exercise a lot easier on step 3.
Are you close to goal?

Hi Daisy, well done on the pound off! You must virtually be at goal! Your CDC is prob right about the fruit, I have to be careful with fruit as well, as it can be a trigger for me- but sometimes everything can be a trigger for me! :)

I'm 3lbs from target, lost 24lbs since July. I've done Cambridge before, lost nearly 4 stone back in 2008, which I managed to maintain ok(ish) until illness last year knocked me for six and I basically went on a mega carb binge for a few months - think I ate my body weight in chocolate alone! Cambridge saved me from myself!

Over the years I've learnt to avoid my trigger foods, not beat myself up if I fall fall off the wagon and begin to understand that food is not the answer to my problems (I'm an emotional eater - stressed I eat, sad -I eat, happy - I eat! You get the idea:). For me working up the steps is all about testing boundaries, what can I eat and what can't I eat? It's not easy, but really is worth the perseverance! :)

Hi Daisy,

Bit late replying, have just started step 3 and found your 'shout out' Are you still on step 3..? How's it going? Ths is my first day and I feel like I have eaten everything in the fridge ! Was on step two for a few weeks which was strange enough... but this step today, seems masses of food... have not exceeded anything but it does feel odd....

How's it going for you?

Hi both,

I have been on step three for a week and went a bit crazy and put on 3lb. This is my first gain I've had since I started. Really struggling with so much choice. Back on it today so hopefully I can lose this gain this week with a bit of exercise thrown in. After SSing I thought moving up would be a breeze!

Hello Skydragon,

Thanks for the message. This part of the site is quite bear, so lovely to find someone else. I'm ok, I stepped up to level 3 from SS+'early as my losses are always small (2lbs a week) and my CDC thought I may need to kick start my metabolism but introducing more food. Only started Wednesday so too early to tell if it's working, but I'd like to lose another stone to take me from a start weight of just under 12 stone to 9 1/2. I do get hungry in the afternoon now, as I have a big breakfast product/porridge and fruit, soup and small green salad for lunch then either a small spud with cottage cheese or tuna and salad for dinner or one of the recipes in the book. So missing my late PM hot chocolate. The recipes in the book are nice, but big and that scares me a little. I want to lose more not less.

What about you? Is it working for you? Xx

it is a little sparse round here right enough,

you can still have your product later if you wanted if you did want a change id suggest missing breakfast one first and have your product later. thats what i do except i have my bar as i evening cuppa treat. i ve been making a up a few recipes myself, have you ever tries quinoa? (a bit like a cross between couscous and bulgar wheat) i been using it as a substitute for rice or pasta its extra high in protein so is being called a super grain. works well and really filling with out the need for loads of it. i ve only been on it for about 10 days stayed the same last week which i was happy about. would like to get a few more pounds off by xmas but i ll wait and see. havent tried any recipes from the book so will need to give them a try.

you re doing so well you mush feel a big difference with what you ve lost already and really only a stone to go thats brilliant. are you using the my fitness app? i really like it as it not only gves you cals you ve eaten but if it knows the food it works out the nutrtional values too. i ve found it great as i want to keep eating a low ish carb and increased protein diet in the future.

Oh, if I can have my product later? that would be great, I'll give it ago. I have tried quinoa, I used to eat it a lot, so would like to substitute it for rice or pasta, that's a great idea.

I've not heard of the app, so I'll look that up, as I think that would be really helpful when I'm out, especially with Christmas coming and all the social engagements that have cropped up. I went for a curry on Saturday, but had a shaslik and little bit of rice and drove, so really proud of myself especially as I've lost 2.2lbs this week ;-)

Do try the recipes, the fish dishes are nice as they're lighter, I added a some chilli flakes to spice it up a bit as I like spicy food and chilli is meant to help speed up the metabolism. My favorite so far is the chicken and veg hotpot - but made it with quorn as I don't eat meat, that was really yummy.

best do some work.

Take care and keep up the good work.

thanks i shall do my best and the same to you

i tried the asda beetroot and goat cheese roast with a quinoa veg mixture it was lovely and great with you just want to throw something together. im not a veggie but tend to eat a diet that leans towards less meat, so have just restocked my quorn freezer. bought the meatball substitute so i ll need to think what i can do with them.

sorry the app is my fitness pal if you dont know it give it a whirl

right im heading for a long soak shortly as my back has been sore today
