Janeys journey! In it for the long haul!

Ok so today is the day, I am starting today, I have umed and ahed about starting now or waiting for Christmas to be over and to be honest I thought at least if I start today knowing I'll have a few blips in the next few weeks, and accepting that, it has to be better than going full pelt into the next few weeks and stuffing my face.

I have a Christmas meal Thursday with a customer I have to go to but I'll try and keep it low carb and I won't be drinking cause I'm driving. Friday I have a Christmas party with work but again I'll keep low carb and try not to drink. I am supposed to go to a meal with friends Saturday but I think this will probably get cancelled.... If not low carb it is! Then the only other thing is Christmas Day! And I will have the whole day off knowing I'll suffer after but hey it'll be worth it! Am I mad attempting this in the run up to Christmas ??? Part of me thinks so but on the other hand I feel ready, now is the time! And I don't want to waste that!

A little bit about me, I've been big all my life and around four years ago I had enough, I joined slimming world and did really well I lost nearly 8 stone to get me to 17 stone ish (still massive I know!) I then started exante and lost the next 3 stone to get me to 15 5 lbs my lightest ever adult weight !!! But then I had a tough time, my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and he died within 6 weeks, me and my brother nursed him at home ( lost mom when I was 21) and it was hard really hard, and I lost it. Over the next two years I have gained over 10 stone to take me to my heaviest ever 26st 9lbs today's starting weight! I have to do this, and I will do this. I know it's not going to be easy but I have no choice.

We'll if you've made it this far you know more about me than anyone! I'll keep updating in the hope it'll keep me going. I also have my first foreign holiday in 14 years booked for next year, France for 2 weeks with hubby and kiddies end of July, I can't wait and I want to be a light as possible by then. How much do you think I should aim to loose in 7 month???

Janeys journey! In it for the long haul!

    Day 2 done !!! Yey!!

Well nearly but I'm in bed three packs down with a rumbly tummy and a headache, but i did it ! I have decided to have no alcohol at the next few Christmas things I have, so that's girls dinner and works do. Now I don't feel ready to tell people about the diet so gonna low carb food, but it will be v v strange for me not to drink so I need a plan, what on earth can I say is the reason for no alcohol?? And they are never gonna buy the whole antibiotics thing!! They know I'm not that sensible!

Hey Janey, welcome! Just read through your first few comments and I am really impressed by your determination. You have been through some really tough times and it sounds like you are ready for a challenge now. Well done for not putting it off either (unlike my weak self, I'm re-starting new year). It's good to have you on board and I'm looking forward reading about your successes

Re: Janeys journey! In it for the long haul!

Right so today is day 5 and still going strong. I had a sneaky peak on the scales this am as I wanted to know where I was as today starts the first of my blips. Planned but still blips.

Was very happy with scales but will keep under wraps till weigh day Sunday ;-)

I have a Christmas lunch with a customer today and a Christmas lunch with team tomorrow and work party tomorrow night, then Saturday I'm out with girlies for Christmas meal. The plan is as low carb as poss and no alcohol!!

Ill keep updating as I go along, I know this will set me back but it's unavoidable!
    Wish me luck

Janeys journey! In it for the long haul!

    Thanks lani123

Well today was ok, but just ok.

I had wood pigeon for my starter with celeriac purée so pretty low carb, then main I had braised blade of beef with greens and mash, not so good but to be honest it was really hard as all dishes came with potato so I ate just a little bit (enough so no one would notice I wasn't leaving it). And sadly I did crack and have creme brulee for desert ( the good thing is I only drank sparkling water!

So not as good as I'd hoped, but you know what I enjoyed it and I'm drawing a line as we speak and tucking into a shake.

So tomorrow I have another challenge.... Work Christmas lunch, followed in evening by work Christmas party with overnight stay in hotel.
Plan of action protein based salad for lunch, we are going to prezzo so I know there will be suitable alternatives. The evening is buffet do so I'll avoid food if I can but if not possible without looking odd I'll stick to protein. Gonna aim for no or v little alcohol and skip the breakfast in hotel claiming hangover lol.

Am hoping everyone will be so wrapped up in themselves they won't notice I'm not drinking )

Not sure that anyone is interested in all this but well it helps me to write it all down.

    I shall update again tomorrow

Its such a hard time of year isn't it. Your choices sound good to me. I am just trying to be as good as I can until next week (although I did have a sneaky chocolate ornage creme from the tin of quality streets in the works kitchen lol). I was really good yesterday until the camembert in my fridge was calling, so had bread rolls and camembert with chutney...thankfully my other half ate the lions share, but I did feel bad after (my TOTM is about tob start so I blamed that lol).

Hope you have as good a day as you can today hun x

Hey how's your day going? I'm now down to 9 st 13 lbs, I'm so happy I could cry lol. I just opened the 'box of doom'...also known as the the box of clothes I out away that didn't fit anymore, dragged out a pair of jeans that two months ago I couldn't get to over my ass...they now fir like a glove, today is a good day. I'm off out as it's my best friends birthday so that will unfortunately involve. Bit of drink and. Foods I shouldn't eat, but not weighing now until the end of next week so I should be ok :-)

Janeys journey! In it for the long haul!

So the best laid plans of mice and men !!!

I was really good till last Friday night and the works Christmas do..... I was bought a jäger bomb and a sambuca shot and it all went down hill from there !! I had a really great but very drunken night followed in the morning by a three course breakfast (

I have been pretty much off plan since, I've felt rubbish poorly tummy all the time and I feel like I'm coming down with something. I swear it's the food!! What's done is done and I can't turn back the clock, so the plan is to weigh in the morning (dreading it!) and then I'll be 100% total solution for the next 3 months. I know I can do this and I still have the same level of motivation even with a house of bad food ;o)

I'll report back in the am with weight and will be spending most of tomorrow running back and forth to the loo! I'm actually looking forward to feeling back in control.

So today was the dreaded weigh day post Christmas. I was supposed to be back on plan yesterday but a dominoes pizza later that didn't happen. Anywho I'm back in the saddle today and on my way!! I have nothing coming up that I need to break the diet for so a good long stretch ahead.

The scales said 26st 8.5 lbs this morning so after a week on plan and a week off plan I'm half a pound lighter. Now I could be gutted that I've undone all my hard work but you know what I'm not I'm pleased that I've made it through the Christmas period and come out the other side lighter !!! A first for me I think.

So back to the headaches etc etc today and a few horrible days but then I know I'll start to feel good! And to be honest after all I've drunk and eaten the last few days I feel pretty rubbish.

Hi Janey. I've just read through your diary so far. You were very brave starting pre Christmas and I think losing half a pound is OK. If you hadn't had your good as you would probably have put weight on! I've been totally off track and won't be back on until 2nd January. I daresn't weigh myself as I reckon I've put loads of weight on. I've put up a couple of challenges starting in January in case you're interested. I find doing these as well as reading everyone else's diaries and regular posting helps motivate me.
