30 Day Squat Challenge

I have decided to join in on this 30 day squat challenge that my sister has been raving on about, have just done the first 50 (gently might I add) The challenge starts on day 1 with 50 squats, then increases each day by 5, with resting on the 4th day, then the 5th day is 70 squats, up by 5 each day, rest on the 4th and then so on and so forth. Ends on day 30 with 250 squats  Obviously with being on low energy levels with the shakes I'm going to monitor how I get on and take it a lot easier than I would do normally and most definitely spread the squats out as they get higher. Hopefully I get some good results from this too, as it should tie in nicely time-wise :) I'm hoping it will tighten my skin around my muscles as I lose weight, I'm also going to do some crunches each day too on my sit up machine (which has lay idle for months even though it is very easy!) to try and tone up my stomach area as it has shrunk down quite a bit and I'm dreading loose skin :( hopefully it should combat it a little! Apart from this I have been swimming twice just doing breast stroke at a leisurely pace. I'm not going to partake in any other form of exercise, such as cardio, as I think over exerting yourself could be dangerous on this so it's a case of every little helps :D xxx

my knees are sore just thinking about all that squating lol! do you do them all at once?

you're great for taking it up, keep us posted on how its going :)

It wasn't so bad doing the 1st 50, though I know it will get worse :) I think you're meant to do them all at once but I'm going to split them as they get higher due to the low energy with the shakes :) I done my 2nd lot today in the pool as I took my youngest swimming and they were much easier :) going to do some more on dry land later though as I think it might be cheating :) lol, will definitely keep you updated how I get on, my sister is on day 11 and you can't half tell the difference already! Hope my results are half as good as hers, I'd be over the moon! :) xxx

Had my day of rest yesterday(very nice)..back on them today..time to do 70 squats :character00115: I will have slim legs for summer, I will, I will, I will lol xxxx

This is my exact plan! It's hard work but I can feel the difference already and I'm only on day 5, just done today's 70 and though it burned..it feels good knowing they must be working! :D I highly recommend it, as if you do them slow and steady (which you're meant to do with squats anyway) it doesn't over exert you like cardio exercise would and you don't expel too much energy. I've not started my crunches yet though as I've been busy moving and organising heavy boxes these last few days so didn't want to do too much! Going to start my crunches on Saturday to keep me entertained, as I'm not a lover of Saturdays on this diet and like to keep busy..will keep updating my progress with the squat challenge. I will try and take and upload some pics tomorrow and then again in a couple of weeks to track it properly on here :) xxx

im going to give it ago too, i've never been much into exercises so im not exactly sure how to even do a squat lol. Going to start tonight while im in the zone! going to measure my thighs too and hope they tone up a little over the month. good luck, keep me updated as to how u get on :)

Good for you!! I think it's good to do them while losing weight as it we can tone up at the same time :) I've always been hit and miss with exercise, used to do loads for a period of time and then do none at all for ages..not any more though, gonna stick with it for good this time :) remember when you're squatting it's as though you are going to sit on a chair and you keep your back as straight as you can and don't let your knees go over your toes. Go on you tube to see demonstrations and that way they will be working properly when you do them. Keep me updated with how you get on too, it's good to have someone to share it with as it keeps you motivated :D xxx

day 1. OMG! i thought it was a 'work yourself into it' type of thing. I can not breathe! maybe 12am wasn't the best time to start but at least i got to 50. My bones cracked with everyone i did - which im sure isn't the best at 26! i went over on my ankle and my bum hurts.. no pain no gain :p

Well Done :D It does take a bit of getting used to but like you said..no pain no gain :) My bones cracked at first too but they've gotten used to it now thankfully! Done my 75 today and it's 80 tomorrow then Sunday is my day of rest :) Just take your time with them and think of the results to keep you going xxxx

oh i dread when im up to the 70 or 80! i will try not to think of that for now lol just did the day 2, better than last night my technique has improved i think :p u find it gets any harder/easier as u go up?

It's a mixture of both, it gets harder cause you're doing more, but it gets easier as you get more used to them :) I just break mine up into sets and have at most a half minute rest between the sets. I just done my 80 for today and split them into 5, took me about 4-5 minutes all in all, they're out the way now and tomorrow is my day of rest, so none now til monday :) you're right in just taking each day as it comes as it's much more manageable that way. I'm so glad I started them, I really do feel better for them. I also started some sit ups yesterday now I'm used to the squats! I'm doing the same idea as the squats and doing the same amounts each day. I have a crunch sit up machine type thing and it's quite easy to use, now I've lost a bit of weight from the shakes it feels better using it as my belly used to get in the way of noticing any results before :) lol, I feel so determined to get in shape, I'm really enjoying it :) I'm not going to do anything else tho apart from these and maybe some gentle floor exercises for toning my legs, just stuff that doesn't exert me. I feel better just introducing things slowly as it's not taking too much on at once and getting disheartened. Hopefully by the time I've finished on LT I'll be more encouraged to do some other exercises when I've more energy :) Keep up the good work and just remember to pace yourself, we'll be fabulously slim for summer :D xx

i am kinda feeling it get a little easier and am definately feeling that 'after exercise' pain, so i know its working!.. was away for the weekend, and managed to fit my 60 in then on my rest day had a 6ish mile walk, on to 70 today which i will have to do quite late as i forgot. Good for you on the crunches front, going to give some other gentle exercise a go too and see how i get on. You're doing great! keep at it. x

So glad to hear you've kept at them, especially going away too! Well Done you!! ..it will be so worth it by day 30 :D I can really see and feel positive results already..done 110 squats today :D Day of rest tomorrow. Done 75 Sit Ups today too, 80 tomorrow then REST :D lost 4.4lbs this week too so really happy all round :) Good luck with the light exercises, keep me posted xxxx

Well done girls! I'm joining this challenge I've lost 4 stone and I'm refeeding so need to tone up and my bum and legs are so wobbly I'm going to start tonight . I just tried doing them and my knees were clicking. I'm not very good at them but practice makes perfect as they say x

Well done Kiimmiieejj..welcome to squat club & welcome Emma too :) it is a challenge at first and to be fair remains a challenge. However the more you do, the easier it becomes on your joints and it feels easier to do overall :) I'm on my day of rest today and actually missing the squat burn feeling! ;) I'm back on them tomorrow and have 130 to do, so I'm sure that feeling will return then lol :) I'm really enjoying them so far and the results are fab and from my sit ups too! Becoming somewhat of an exercise fanatic, however I've chosen all quite 'easy' exercises to do in that they're not very aerobic so as not to burn up too much energy while on the shakes. I've just bought a "powerspin" exercise gadget from argos for £19.99, it's apparently meant to sort out bingo wings so I'm desperately in need of that! I can't really comment on any results as of yet but you can sure feel the burn from it so I imagine it will give very good results, will keep you posted and put some pics up of before and after! It's quite small and easy to use, so can be took to work to use on your break or in the car for when visiting family. I'll be taking mine on holiday with me in a couple of weeks and also my Davina McCall hula hoop (£12.99 argos). I'm really pants at hula hoops but had a go of my sister's one and it seems like it will give good results once I get the hang of it and it stops dropping straight to the floor! It can be took apart and is very compact once done, so good for storage and taking on hol ;) Going to be coming off lipotrim for a week towards the end of May for my hol so want to make sure I'm making up for it with exercise. Will more than likely come back to lipotrim after my hols or may just switch to healthy eating and exercise as I'll be able to do more intense exercise then..will see closer to the time how I get on ;) Good luck ladies, enjoy and keep us posted! xxxxx

On day 14 now, done 135 Squats this morning, 140 to do tomorrow and then REST on Monday ;) hope you're all doing well :) xxx

Well done you! Haven't started yet as I have strained a muscle in my back when I picked up my dog to put him in the bath, so ended up on hospital now can hardly move. So my squats went out the window. As soon as I'm better ill be starting them tho x

You've done fabulous with you're weight loss so that's a great achievement for now :D the results from the squats are quite quick anyway so you'll have fab results in no time! xxxx
