Exclamation Just dont know where to start.

Hi everyone, I really dont know where to start with diets. I have 7 stone to loose, its getting bad now. I snack all day as im not working due to having young kids and im bored !. I can't keep away from the cupboard...

I've tried slimming world. But to be honest I hated the group of stuck up ladies.
Years ago I tried lighter life and cambridge, but now just cant afford it.

I would like to do a diet like cambridge again but they all seem very expensive.

What does the nhs offer these days? I had reductile once but it gave me terrible headaches. I'm at a loss and just dont know where to turn Any advice would be wonderful.

A lot of people on here do well on Slim & Save, not sure about it cost wise but I believe you can order a starter pack to try out.

As far as the NHS goes the best you could hope for would be a 12 week Slimming World or WW membership pass but that depends on the individual health authority.

Personally I'm a calorie counter and a lot of Minimins members use My Fitness Pal to track their intake. You feed in your stats and it calculates everything for you.

Good luck with whatever plan you choose.

    Hi hun, welcome

I'm with tranquility, I'm a calorie counter too, but it's up to you to see what you stick at the best and if you think you can do it (my friend is dead against it and is just 'healthy eating' without counting, but I like the extra bit of knowledge that i'm not hitting anywhere near maintenance calories as some 'healthy' things are surprisingly high calorie wise

Hello and welcome! I'm also a calorie counter and agree with the others in saying it's a great way to lose weight, very flexible, and cheap! It also means you lose nice and steadily, and you don't really want to be doing it too fast when you have a large amount to lose, because you're more likely to get problems with excess skin if you do. In terms of NHS help I started off by going to my doctor (I had 10 stone to lose) and was prescribed Orlistat, which I took for quite a while. My experience of it was that it's great for helping keep you on the straight and narrow if you start to waver, but it doesn't greatly increase your losses - but every little helps! It also helped me to be going to the doctor's every month or so to get weighed. Anyway, all the best with whatever plan you choose. xx

Hi Karen, Welcome to the forum... well, you've made a start and that's good.. being on here with lots of folk who are in much the same situation as yourself is always a good boost as you know they are here to help and support you whatever you choose to do.

I started with calorie counting and as mentioned..My Fitness Pal is a great way to help with sorting calculating them and keeping you at your chosen goal.. and it will get you involved so you wont feel so bored as well.
May I suggest that you fill in more of your details so we can see how you are progressing and start your own diary so we know where to find you to see how you are doing and give you that much needed support.

All the very best to you and I look forward to watching your progress!
