    Feeling Frumpy

    Hi all

    I have decided that I don't want to wait until I have shed the pounds to start feeling better about the way I look. The trouble is, I am so clueless. I am 31 years old, and I can't paint my nails nicely, pluck my own eyebrows, or choose clothes. I wear make-up, but I am spotty so very little cover-up, though I use eyeshadow and lipstick. I probably do it all wrong, but hey ho, at least I am trying.

    I really don't like most of the clothes I see about at the moment, and I really just feel so stuck in a rut. I also hate drawing attention to my appearance, so I don't like the "I like what you have done with your hair" or "is that a new top" comments that come with changing my look.

    I hope this doesn't come across as shallow... I just feel so dowdy all the time and I would love any tips on where to start turning it around.

    im the same
    i feel stuck in a bit of a rut too
    and kinda wanna treat myself now but i think do i wanna buy this just to need a smaller size soon
    i also do wear lipstick during the day, dunno if its a confidence thing or what but i hate people thinking im too done up for the day if you get what i mean
    but i would wear any bright colour on a night out etc
    are there any styles of clothes you like ? or celebs you like the dress sense of?

    Hi Lottiebird, have you tried going to boots and asking them to do your makeup? It's free and you only pay for the makeup that you actually want to buy and take home with you!

    Lots of department stores also offer a personal shopper. I done this last year and it was also free, only things I paid for we're the clothes that I wanted to buy but I got to try on loads while the assistant helped pick what suited me etc.

    I am not sure what celebs I like the look of, or even what I aspire to look like, so that's a great question! I will start to think about what I would like to look like...

    Great idea about the makeup counters, I will definitely give this a go! Nothing to lose!

    I am going to put the money I want to spend on clothes in a jar until I see something I actually want. Clothes right now are just not my taste! And sods law I never have money when I see things I like

    I was feeling really down on myself, really feel a bit silly now. I'm going to get my eyebrows and nails done at the weekend as a start. No point feeling crappy when I look much better than I did, and there is plenty I can do to improve further.

    im the same i never find any clothes i like when i want to find them but when i have like no money thats when i find all the best stuff

    I've never learned to do makeup either. My daughter has worn the stuff since she was about 14/15 and taught herself (she's an adult now)

    I think if you start at as a teen you can get away with experimenting but when you're over 30 people are going to stare if you've got weird makeup...

    I've just googled and I think after reading this I may treat myself to a makeup lesson at some point (I've even found one using cruelty free cosmetics!) - maybe if I can stick to this diet for the next 3 weeks? What do you think?
    START AGAIN- 20/01/2013

    Goals for this time-
    Weight myself and assess the damage of the last 6 months - Done +1st12lbs
    Get back under 12st- Done week 3
    Manage a whole month on VLCD. DONE WHOOOOO!
    Make it to 24th FEB. YES YES YES YESSSSS
    Refeed PROPERLY for a week. Done!
    Have ONE week break ONLY.
    Start again on 11/3/2013
    Manage 4 more weeks on VLCD. Done whooo!
    Shrink my belly so I don't look pregnant!
    Get under 11st- Done week 10
    Get out of the, 'overweight' category into the 'normal' Done week 12 Undone week 13
    Get back into my small size 14 jeans - DONE Wk 12!! But they're tight after a meal
    Refeed properly - eg not giving up after 4 days - Meh.
    Get to 10.5st.
    Get a new dress and feel sexy!

    WK1: -5.5lbs WK2: -4lbs WK3: -2lbs WK4: -5lbs WK5: -1lb
    WK6: STS (refeed) WK7: +1lb (eating sensibly) WK 8: -5lbs

    WK9: -2lbs WK10: -4lbs WK11: STS WK12: (exante) -1.5lb

    WK13: +2.5lbs
