Seeing the doctor on Monday

I've got an appointment with a doctor on Monday to see if I can get something to help with the PCOS I'm 99% certain I have.

I've got almost all of the symptoms - erratic periods (sometimes I won't have one for months, and then I'll have one that lasts 4-6 weeks), excess body hair, weight gain particularly around the mid-section (although I take most of the responsibility for that!), a patch of thinning hair, skin tags, feeling down/depressed a lot, etc.

I understand I'll probably need a blood test, but will I have to wait a long time to get something to treat it? I really want the contraceptive pill + something like cyproterone acetate that deals with the excess body hair and thinning patch, and ideally a prescription for the cream that helps with facial hair. But it's bothering me so much that I don't want to be kept waiting for any longer than I need to.

I guess what I'm asking is, how long did it take for your diagnosis and then treatment? I know it will probably vary across different areas of the country, but at least I'll know roughly how long I can expect.

Hi honey I have been diagnosed via private ultrasound I went to my doctor who said I would have to come off the pill for 3 months before they can test my hormones, :( so I'm going to loose the weight and see if it helps, you should be ok he will probably prescribe you stuff for your extra hair and thinning hair suggest weight loss and eating healthy they will also test your hormones and get an ultrasound sorted to confirm, I have read that many women have been able to manage and also have children which is great to know for when the time comes, good luck to you.
:)
