Triplestep's SW Photo/Food Diary

Hi all, I'm going to my first Slimming World class tomorrow! :wavey:

I have been trying to eat more healthy since Jan 2013 and started a food/photo diary in the Healthy Eating forum, but I have found it very quiet over there and my weight is not really showing much movement of going down :( I didn't calorie count- just moved and exercised more, but results on the scale have been slow.

At work 2 colleagues are starting SW tomorrow; one for the first time and the another is going back on plan after being off plan for 2 years. I said I would join them too. I am hoping SW will give me some structure and I make better choices in eating more healthy.

My session starts tomorrow evening, so I could be on the plan Wednesday :)

Felt all a bit surreal at the meeting, but I stayed all the way through. The consultant is very energetic and very encouraging, she told the new starters to start on an Extra Easy plan first and see how we get on. It didn't sound much like a diet and sounds too good to be true with all the unlimited food, couldn't wrap my head around all the encouragement to make free choices and eat! eat! eat! :D

I think I have done okay for my first day.
I thought I didn't have the right cereals suggested for HexB, so I added some seeds which I will syn, but I've just checked and the cereal is fine and can be counted as a HexB.

Breakfast: Fruit & nut cereal, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds(3)
Mid morning snack: 1 Rice cake(1.5), cheese triangle, turkey slices and an apple
Lunch: Pasta with roast chicken, cherry tomatoes and spinach with dressing made of honey(1) mustard and reduced fat mayo(1)
Dinner: Whole trout, with mashed potatoes, mushy peas, roasted cherry tomatoes
Snacks: Plum, vanilla tea with milk, corn thin(1)
Syns for the day: 7.5

Thanks, dinner was massive! I tried to keep to the ratio of the veg, so it was getting bigger and bigger, I was pretty stuffed! :)

This morning I had ham, cheese and tomatoes on wholemeal toast, tea with milk.

My packet of cherry tomatoes that I brought yestetday have finished already, I will need to pop out at lunch to get some more.

Fri 10th May
Breakfast: Marmite, cottage cheese(1) on 1 slice of wholemeal toast. Tea with milk.
Mid morning snack: Apple, 1 Diarylea triangle.
Lunch: Trout and spinach with instant mash mashup. Tomatoes, Mushy peas.

Syns: 14.5

First time I tried making a steamboat/hotpot at home. I used the rice cooker and prepared way too much food for 2. Over half left over will probably use it to make Singapore rice noodles or a stir fry at some point over the weekend.
Bakewell tart- impulse buy at Tesco :(

Sat 11th May EE

Breakfast: Spanish inspired omelette with red peppers, potatoes, green beans and bacon. Served with baked beans. Green tea.
Lunch: 2 apples, 1 Salmon Onigiri(2.5) 3 sticks of chocolate almond snacks(4.5)- similar to Mikado
Dinner: Singapore fried rice noodles, stir fried with pork, curry powder and various veg. Genmai tea.
Snacks: Dr Karg 3 seed(HexB) Dr Karg Emmental & pumpkin seed(5) Cheese(HexA). Green tea. Cantaloupe. A tasting of a chocolate brownie(1)
Syns: 13

I was out and about today, so my breakfast was really brunch. I am guessing the salmon onigiri(sushi rice with filling of salmon and sesame seeds) to be 2.5syns, just in case of any oil or dressings etc. The chocolate almond sticks I've counted as 1.5 syns each (1 Mikado stick being 0.5 syns) I was about to buy a chocolate brownie on my travels today. I had a tiny tasting (1.5cm x 1.5cm) it was really nice, but I decided it wasn't worth it and the tasting was enough for me :) The Singapore noodles came out a bit stodgy as I used the leftovers from last night (which was fine for yesterday's steamboat) but to use for stir frying they should have been more al dente.

Sun 12th May

Breakfast: 1 small size toast with cheese and ham. Tea with milk.
Post gym snack: 1 apple
Lunch: Restaurant; Char-grilled chicken leg, pickled spicy cucumber salad, sticky rice, came with chilli sauce(0.5) 1 Chicken wrapped in pandan leaves.
Dinner: Take out; Lamb curry(6) and Lamb spring roll(12) boiled rice, mix boiled veg, yogurt, cucumber, pickled onions and gherkins.
Snacks: 1 bite of an orange Krispy Kreme(?1) 1 scone(10.5) with strawberry jam(2) cup of tea, peppermint tea.

For lunch I had at the most 1tsp of chilli sauce and none of the sesame dip(looked really oily) I took the skin off the chicken and blotted the chicken from the pandan leaf. Not that it made much difference when it came to dinner, I had half a portion of lamb curry - saving the other half for lunch tomorrow. After dinner, I just wanted to chill and eat some more hence the scone. I'm not going to feel guilty about it and it was very nice :)

Total syns for the day: 32

I don't think people eat the pandan leaf, mainly for show - like banana or lotus leaves- I think they use it mainly to infuse flavour too and to make extract from. Slight sweetness - a bit like coconut or vanilla.

Mon 13th May
Breakfast: Spaghetti hoops a slice of wholemeal toast sprinkled with cheese and a slice of ham. Tea with milk.

Lunch: The other half of the lamb curry(6) rice, mixed veg. 1 large grapefruit (the biggest grapfruit in the world!)

Pre badminton snack: Rice cakes x2.5(4) turkey slices, diarylea triangle. Berry herbal tea.

Dinner: Poached chicken with savoury rice(?5) and veg. Served with garlic, chilli and lime soy sauce.

Other snacks: Peppermint tea, berry tea.

Syns: 15

No photos, I was famished after badminton, just needed some food. I added a children's play spoon to grapfruit photo, so it's not as big as it seems, but it was pretty massive! :D
