Confessions of a loser...

xRachaelx

You only live once.
Hey guys,

Im relatively new to this site and I am 5 weeks into my journey so I thought it would be a good time to start a weight loss diary.

I am really motivated, positive and focused at the moment and I am worried that that mentallity will go at some point and I think this would be the best way to keep me on the right track and to have a few people to put me back on when I fall off.

So, my journey so far...

I started slimming world on 5th of January at 22 stone 13 pounds. After being on countless numbers of diets (as I am sure most of you have also done) I thought Id give it a go. The reason I joined was basically because my Mum dragged me along. I wasnt really interested and I just thought "I am never going to be skinny, whats the point?" So I just went along to keep her off my back about loosing weight. After having the extra easy plan explained to me and hearing about all the success stories in group I began feeling a bit more motivational about the diet and really give it a go in the first week.

In my first weigh in I lost 7.5 pounds. I was over the moon! I know everybody has big weight losses in their first week but it was such a motivational boost. It was just what I needed. And since then Ive just been so positive about the diet, reading success stories and how other people are doing and now my thoughts are "If they can do it, SO CAN I!".

Joining slimming world, so far, is the best thing I have done. Im now at 21 stone 3.5lbs (thats 1 stone 9.5 pound loss in just 5 weeks =D) and I couldnt be more happier with the diet. I am finding it so easy to do, I actually cannot believe it.

My goal weight would be to fit in a size 12 clothes so I am expecting to get down to about 11 stone, but as I can never remember being that size (I probably went past it when I was a lot younger) I wont know untill I get there if I want to be smaller or a little bit bigger than 11 stone.

SO theres all about me and my diet...

Support and comments etc are all welcome!

 thanks for reading my thread

Today was day two of my new exercising regime! I feel like I am really getting into it. I was actually looking forward to coming home to start! Yes that right... LOOKING FORWARD TO EXERCSING!! Ive never looked forward to exercising!

The exercise ive been doing is the Zumba Fitness 2 game for the Wii. It really gets you going and according to the game ive been burning a ton of calories! 1130 yesterday and 780 calories today! Apparently burning 3000 calories a week burns one pound so im trying to burn off as much as I can to get those extra pounds off and speed up my weight loss!

Ive also been exercising with new toner trainers that I bought last week. They are ment to tone all your legs and bum. They are killers! Can really feel the burn in the back of your calves but im hopefully ill have an ass like JLO in a few months! haha. They were only £11.99 with postage! Reduced from £49.99! BARGAIN! Heres the link incase anybodies interested in them!

TEMPTATION AND WILL POWER!

I didnt get chance to do my 50 min zumba session on the Wii today because I had plans to go to my Dads for dinner with my brother and sister.

I called him before hand to check what we were having just incase... "Ive just gotten 4 pizzas and garlic bread for us all to share" so I told him I cant eat pizza Im on a diet and his answer was "But its veg pizza, I got veg because I knew you were on a diet." Oh yea since when were double cheese topped doughy pizzas with a sprinkle of peppers and onion healthy?!
He knows im on a diet and he ALWAYS cooks homemade food and now im on a diet he decides to cook crap!

So being the dedicated dieter that I am I went home and cooked myself chicken and bacon pasta with veg in and crispy potato bits to take with me! Well I got to my Dads and it was utter torture...

I sat nibbling on my healthy pasta whilst they were sitting round the table next to me scoffing down their cheese loaded pizzas with cheese dripping everywere! It was horrible! I stayed strong though and just filled myself up with my pasta! NOT A PEPPERONI SLICE PASSED MY LIPS! =D

Todays Menu
Breakfast - Mixed defrosted berries
Lunch - Butternut squash, carrot and corriander soup and muller light
Dinner - Pasta with chicken, bacon, mixed veg, cheese (HEX A) and some crispy herby potato bits. NO PIZZA OR GARLIC BREAD!!

Well done you! You did so well to resist! You will feel so much better in yourself for not going near it, pizza is the devil haha!

I was the same on Sunday - was out with my Mum and two others for dinner and they all had deserts then ordered hot choc with cream on top, I HAD NONE!

We both know we'd have been gutted if we'd have given in to these temptations so give yourself a pat on the back :D

Well done on resisting you did well and it will pay off! X

Today was my 6th weekly weigh in. Im half a pound closer to my target!

Im not going to lie, I am disapointed with this weight loss. Ive been doing my zumba burning countless calories and ive been really good on the diet as every other week when Ive had good weight losses and ive never went over 6 syns a day.

The only thing I can think of which might have an effect is ive had cheese on two occasions as syns when ive already used my HEX A on cheese so maybe a bit too much cheese in the same day??

My consultant says that when we start execising we tend to retain water for the first few weeks so I slightly expected not the best of weight losses but I was hoping for at least 2 pounds. Im trying to keep positive about it any ways as ive had a run of really good weight losses and it was bound to slow down sooner or later.

Ive set my self a target of a pound to loose for next week as I dont want to disapoint myself if I set any bigger and then dont have a big weight loss again with it still being early into my exercise regieme.

On a more possitve note.... IM HALF A BLOODY POUND CLOSER TO MY TARGET WOOP! Yep, thats 1 stone 10 pounds in just 6 weeks! Thats a hell of a lot of weight =]

To put that into perspective...

Todays Menu
Breakfast/Lunch - Bacon, Eggs, 3 WW sausages (1 1/2 syns), tinned tomatoes, 2 small wholemeal bread (HEX B)
Dinner - Just ordered myself a spanish style egg foo yung from the chippy which is on of the more healthier options on the menu for about 9 syns (got in late from class and couldnt be bothered cooking!) and a little bit of curry sauce (less than 3 syns)

Well done on the loss hun. That picture is a great visual aid! X

Well done you, 1/2lb is still a loss and it's going in the right direction plus you have a very positive attitude which is great :D

Thanks for the support guys!
I love that picture. It makes you realise what youve actually lost.

Im a Kate.... (Well trying my best to be!)

In group this week our consultant brought a story which she read out (which was good timing really as its made me appriciate my half of a pound weight loss) about two different women and their attitudes to weight loss. I think she got it off the website but here it is any ways, have a read it really does make you think about how you feel towards your weight loss...

"Gabby is 180 pounds and would dearly love to be 130 pounds. So she joins a weight loss class and starts a diet. In the first week she loses 4 pounds. Her reaction? "Fantastic! At this rate, I'll be 130 pounds in 3 months or less! Yippee!" However, in the second week she loses nothing. Her reaction? "Disaster! Panic...! Help! - I'm a useless fat lump!"
But she perseveres (grudgingly) and in week three loses another 2 pounds. Her reaction? "Big deal!"

So after three weeks dieting, she has lost 6 pounds which is perfect for someone of her weight. But it's not good enough for Gabby. As far as Gabby is concerned, it's no big deal. And over the next fortnight, all her enthusiasm flies out the window. Why?
Because it has dawned on Gabby that if she continues to lose 2 pounds a week, it's going to take her 6 months to slim down to her dream size. And Gabby does not have 6 months to wait. Because Gabby is much too busy. Poor old Gabby. She refuses to accept that losing weight takes time. Unfortunately, until she changes her attitude she will never lose weight in a thousand years.

Now take Kate, another member of Gabby's slimming class, who is exactly the same height and weight as Gabby. She loses weight at the same speed as Gabby, but her attitude to dieting is completely different. She knows it's easy to lose weight at the start of a diet, because most of it is fluid.

So when she loses 4 pounds in week one, she doesn't rush out and celebrate. She just stays calm and carries on dieting. Equally, when she loses nothing in a week or two, she doesnt panic or get depressed. She just takes it in her stride and carries on dieting.

You see, Kate isn't really bothered WHAT happens in the first few weeks. She is much more concerned about the long term. So she bides her time and carries on. In fact, she carries on dieting and gradually shedding pounds for the next 12 weeks. Result? She loses a total of 30 pounds. Then celebrates! She takes her husband's credit card on a shopping trip and buys a gorgeous red dress which makes her look ten years younger!

She wears the dress to a local wedding and guess who she meets? Gabby! The same old Gabby who didn't have the patience to spend 3 months dieting. The same old Gabby who is now even fatter. The same old Gabby who is now crammed into elasticated pants and looking tired, red-faced and distinctly uncomfortable. After the wedding, Kate goes back on her diet. She still has weight to lose. However, the reaction of her family and friends to her new slim shape has given her a real boost. Result? She finds dieting a lot easier. And four months later she is down another 30 pounds. Meanwhile, Gabby too has been busy. She has started and stopped several new diets. Why does she keep stopping? Because the diets are too 'slow' for her liking. Remember, Gabby does NOT have time for slow diets. She's a fast-tracker! Who are you? Gabby or Kate?

The moral is - dont let slow weight losses get you down!!! Good luck."

So yea Im trying my best to be a Kate from now on. As they say, "slow and steady wins the race!"

Ive deffinatly been a Gabby on every other single diet ive been on. Ive given my self every excuse in the book why I shouldnt diet and ive had the attitude that my journey is going to take that long that theres no point in doing it so they have never worked!

In the past ive always set myself deadlines and I think thats what my problem was. I had a deadline to loose all my weight when for when I started uni... it never happend because I kept putting it off realising it was going to take longer so thinking to myself whats the point??? I had a deadline to loose all my weight for a holiday a couple of years ago when we were going to Miami (being amongst all of the skinny minis on the beach whilst looking like a washed up beach whale wasnt what I wanted!)... I did exactly the same for that... it didnt happen. I set myself a deadline for my 21st and holiday for my 21st (in April this year) it didnt happen because I made exactly the same excuses up!

Now I havnt got any major "events" coming up this year that ive set myself a deadline for so im just going to give myself as long as it takes. Preferably middle-end of 2013! But no pressure if I dont!

Taking each week as it comes. Whatever will be will be.

But I am going to fight this weight as hard as I can!

So guys, are you a Gabby or a Kate??

Excellent story!!! I used to be a 'Kate'. I stopped going to class, not because of the length of time it was taking me lose weight but my head just wasn't in the right place, I became friends with a girl at my class, kept in touch only on Facebook, passed her before Xmas pushing her newborn baby down the road, OH said i'll pull over and you can say hello, i told him not to as i was so embarrassed at being so fat when she looked so great! If only I'd have stuck to it!!!
