My brand new restart diary - one step at a time

Hi!

So, new year = time for a fresh start. I certainly need it, have lost & put on the same stone or so for what seems like ages, & never actually reached target. Now an entire stone up on my weight in November, & determined to get rid of it!!

So this is my diary.... It will be a kind of SW / 5:2 hybrid as I find that works best for me.

Weight: 9st 1.6lb

Still feeling ill :( Got a sore throat so is really painful to swallow, also seem to have lost my appetite. But with being ill not sure if I need more energy?

Red lentil & mint dahl c.200kcal

Plan tomorrow is to have a jalfrezi or dhansak with plain boiled rice, at 8.5 syns. And then 15-20 syns of wine. Bit worried if people want starters tho, as are there any low syn indian starters?? Guess I should be ok syn wise as had less than 30 this week so far, but not good having a night out the day begore weigh in, eek!

Wednesday 8th January 2014: Day 7, Week 1

Weight: 9st 1.8lb

Weight up from yest, which I'm a bit suprised about as it was a fast day! :( As long as it doesn't shoot up at weigh in tomorrow after tonights curry, I won't be too bothered. Really want to be 9st 2lb or under tomorrow, as that then gives me a chance of getting to 9st next week (really want to back below that stone bracket!!)

Update: Synage for the day

Curry was a bit naughtier than planned, as everyone wanted a mixed sharing platter so I went along with that. In hindsight should have given my mini onion bhaji to my man, esp as I didn't actually enjoy it enough for the syns, haha. Stuck to dhansak & plain boiled rice for main, though did have a taste of the boys garlic naan as its my abdolute indian fave!! Drinkswise, had 2 glasses of wine & a tia mia which was complimentary so couldn't say no ;)

Starters: Guess 25 syns?? Think mini barji was the worst, others were meat based chicken tikka, lamb tikka, & some kind of mini kabab. Plus salad.

Main: Dhansak (8.5 syns), plain boiled rice, small taste naan (5 syns)

Drinks: 2 glasses wine, think about 10 syns? Can't quite remember....
Tia Maria (guess at 5 syns?), mint choc (5 syns)

That brings me about 58.5 syns for the day (will check alcohol ones are correct when I'm home tonight). A lot for one day, but ended the week well within my weekly allowance :)

Hi Emmster,
Popping in to subscribe as I feel your pain on the 'bumbling around the same weight, never getting to target and then putting on some christmas pounds'...I'm back on it too..but just doing sw, not 5:2.
Are you feeling better today? Sounds like you're doing really well...although I dont think I'd survive on so few cals, but just goes to show you can get some lovely meals for under 500 a day! :)
Enjoy tonights curry!

Hi Ging,

My day was good thanks. Very busy at work as it's year end so didn't leave didn't until 7.30 & then straight out for a curry. Was actually secretly glad I didn't have time for drinks beforehand as curry was booked for 8. Don't particuarly like coke / lemonade etc (or diet drinks) so if I'm out & not drinking then I tend to stick to water, which tends to generate comments.

Had a lovely night out, bit naughtier than I planned but nice to feel in control still. Was home late so pretty tired now & today will be another busy one.

Hope you have a good day!

Thursday 9th January 2014: Day 1, Week 2

Weight 9st 1.4lb

Loss of 5lb :D Woo hoo!! Prob a lot of water weight, but I'm not complaining haha.

Aim is to get down to 2013 lowest weight of 8st 6lb in 4 weeks. Thats 9lb, so will be tough but don't think it's too unrealistic as it's Jan, don't have many social events coming up, & can cut right back on alcohol (my main source of empty cals!).

Fast Day 1

Today has been a good day filled with lots of low cal yumminess.

L: Homemade carrot soup (100kcal)
D: Mussels in chilli, garlic & coriander to start (130kcal), followed by stir fried veg noodles (160kcal for noodles, guess 100kcal for garlic, ginger, chilli, veg, soy sauce, & fish sauce)

Total: c.500kcal

Well done lovely!! That's absolutely amazing! I'd kill to be at that weight at the mo! Maybe I should try the old 5:2 with sw too as I can never seem to break the 9st barrier! As you say though, jan is normally a good time of year to put your mind to these things seeing as there's less socialising going on!
Glad you enjoyed your curry, sounds like you earnt it after your long day!
Xx

Friday 10th January 2014: Day 2, Week 2

Weight: 9st 1.8lb

It'Friday!!!! Yay!! Today will have a bit of naughtiness as off to a gorgeous cocktail bar for drinks. And I can't resist having a couple, haha. Have decided to have between 2 & 4, depending on my mood at the time. Anyone know how many syns in an average cocktail?? I'm guessing 10-20......

So plan for today (red) is....

L: Chicken, salad, & maybe some cheese for a 2nd HexA (1st used in teas / coffees)
After work: 20-80 cocktail syns :)
D: Not sure.... maybe if I'm really lucky my bf will have something yummy & sw-friendly cooked when I get home. Unless he goes out drinking with his work collegues, ha.

Will update food later!

Hi Em :) Popping in to subscribe!

I had thought about doing 5:2 combined with SW before but I honestly don't think I could reduce my calories to 500, although it looks like you manage it!

Well done on the 5lb loss, pretty fantastic stuff!

Thanks Jessy :)

I did find sticking to 500 difficult at first, but it's getting easier! Also, I've never been a breakfast eater (when I was a kid, my mum used to always have to force me to eat some!) so can easily go until 1 or 2pm without eating, so I think this helps.

Hi Ging,

I managed to stick to 2, which is prob a first for me, haha. Then had a very healthy chicken & veg stir fry when I got home.

I work in Richmond & live in London. How about you?
