Ok, i have a question, does drinking water really aid weight loss?

I drink hardly anything in a day, i know its bad, but i just always forget, when i was at work it was easier but now im home with the kids i barely have time to sit and have a cupa during the day.

Will it help me if i drink more?

I think that link is excessively high. I have used a few different calculators and they all come out around the same and lower than the 3.9L that one says I should be drinking.

How many pints in a litre? The quiz told me I need to drink 2.3 litres. I drink about 6/7 pints. I defo think drinking water has aided my weightloss. I was rubbish at drinking before n could go a whole day without 1!

All i know is i feel so much better since i stopped drinking fizzy juice..coke, pepsi etc and only drink dilute juice or water on its own, i dont feel soo bloated and lethargic, i try do the minimum of 2 litres per day :)

I agree that link will give you a high number, but I like it because it makes you think of all of the things that may contribute to you needing to increase your hydration. Like living at elevation (which I do)...never thought that would mean I need more water :)

Actually you can die from water intoxication, if you drink too much too quick, affects your body minerals, which you need, kidneys not able to manage the amount it has to deal with.

Don't know how much would be too much though.

Also it is confusing, different sites give different amounts and now the scientists are saying just drink when you are thirsty. It's like anything one minute they tell you it's bad for you and next minute it's ok.

You would need to be drinking huge amount of water in a very short space of time before it could become a hazard though.

According to the link I posted up thread, your kidneys can cope with up to 15L a day. The story in the press a while back where a girl died from it sais she had drunk something like 7L in an hour! As long as you spread it out over the day there is no risk :)

Yep it definitely helps! Especially if you are exercising too.
It flushes out the fat you're burning off, flushes out your digestive system, helps with water retention, helps you feel full...

Water intoxication is more about the speed that you drink water i.e. you shouldnt drink more than 3L in one hour. I would struggle to drink half that in one hour!
I try and drink around 2-3L per day.

I drink at least 2ltrs of water every day during the week, usually sparkling water, some with no added sugar squash. The 2ltrs does not include any tea and coffee that I drink.

I have to admit, at the weekends I probably drink less water, but more tea and coffee. I also tend to have wine at the weekend so really need to up my water intake at the weekend as well to compensate for the wine intake!

That says I should drink 4.6l a day!!! WTF? :sigh:

Just from my own experience I know that 2L a day works great for me. If I drink a glass of water before eating I don't eat as much and drinking between meals helps me stop snacking. Plus the exercise of up and down to the loo every hour is great lol.

I wouldn't worry too much about drinking too much water. As long as you are spreading it out over the course of the day you will be fine, it's drinking litres and litres in like the space of an hour that can be dangerous.

I drink abt 2L in work, sometimes i add a bit of sugar free squash because lets face it water is BOOORRRRIIINGGGG!!!

Ive noticed my skin has changed too...and no not in a "i'm forming gills and scales kinda way" lol ;)

I've upped my water levels recently, not because it's good for me, but because of the expence of buying a bottle of diet coke every day for work, but I am noticing I'm not as hungry before meals, but I can't keep off of the loo! I have a weak bladder as it is, but this is ridiculous! I've been twice an hour for the last 3 hours! Ha ha!! My work colleagues are gonna start thinking I'm up to something!! ;)

Drinking so much water will make you go to the loo more often, but thats a good thing as it aids getting rid of the rubbish in your body :)
