Unsure if i should join sw.

I am really struggling with weight loss and am losing and gaining the same couple of pounds over and over!

I have tried slimming world once before but I put on weight in my first week and that put me off.

My mum and sil have joined and both lost 5lb in their first week. So that's got me thinking should I join?

Would you recommend It and why? Is it easy to fit into family life? I have 2 children so need meals that will suit all of us but still taste good.

Thanks :)

If it's right for you then join, but I feel it's a lifestyle change not a short term fix, that's what's amazing about it. The reason some people might put on weight in the first week is one of two-
they might have been eating a very low cal diet so eating more may make them gain in the first week while the metabolism speeds up again.
they might've been eating lots a few days before so they would've gained weight that week anyway.

If you think you can stick to it for life then sign up or use the information on here and try the free menu on the slimming world website for the week, see how you get on? Good luck either way

Hi Jellybean
I'm quite new to slimming world but thought id voice my thoughts.
I find sw recipes really family friendly- rarely if ever do you need to cook a separate meal, and people have never noticed my sw friendly cooking as 'diet' food!
I can understand your worry re gaining, especially if its happened before, but all id say is stick to the plan to the letter and see how it goes- if you did gain you could look at your portion sizes/make sure you're getting enough superfree/increase your speed and superfree foods/limit syns to 10 a day instead of 15.
Good luck with your weight loss :)

I'm a bit like you, keep losing and gaining the same stone! The only week when I gained on SW was the week I had 2 days off plan.

As for families, I made a decision I wasn't going to make any meals we genuinely don't like. I have 4 children, from 13 to 7, and most of the time they eat what I do. Sometimes they have pizza or whatever, and then I eat a leftover portion of an earlier meal I've stuck in the freezer. It does work!

I love slimmingworld and I would dread to think where I would be without it. It is a lifestyle change and I never feel like I am on a diet. I started properly again in September and have lost over 1.5 stone without limiting myself. The main key is 1/3 of your plate superfree and you can have meat (no fat) and carbs so it isnt like a diet. No weighing food and nothing is off limits.

I would recommend it to anyone as I have tried every diet going, Dukan, WW, Cambridge, Atkins etc and this is the only one that has worked long term for me.
