    Tried Scan Bran and GAINED!! :(

    Our c set us the scan bran challenge last week, was happy to give it a go, 5 a day, didn't mind eating them, made sure I had a large glass of squash for every scan bran, and at weigh in I gained 1.5lbs. First time I've gained and I'm absolutely gutted

    I'm going to keep up the water for a couple of days in the hope of flushing out my system and stick to plan as normal. I thought it was meant to boost weight loss?! I happily lost 3.5lbs last week of my own accord, now I'm annoyed I tried this and gained weight!!!

    Has his happened to anyone else? Any suggestions? Tips on getting my head around the gain? I am SO fed up :'(

    You need to really really up the fluids. Like double your intake. It does work but can have the reverse effect by causing your system to slow if the fluid levels are just not enough. Without being indelicate it makes you poo. Lots. If you didn't experience that then you need more water. I regularly have scan bran and that coupled with lots of water is like a cleanse for your insides. It's not for everyone though!

    Oh I experienced it! Come to think of it, perhaps not so much the last couple of days. I drink squash by the pint and had a full pint for every scan bran, plus what I would normally have in between.
    I was up for the cleansing of the insides and actually quite enjoyed eating them, so when it backfired and I gained weight it was really disappointing.
    How often do you have it? And for how many days?
    I would be happy to have them as my hexb occasionally, but not if I gain weight!!

    As LTL says you need to 'flush' it out.

    I really wouldn't be upset about this gain it's just a temporary blip and you need to draw a line under it . You have not been initiated into the world of SW until you have had a STS and gain.

    I can see from your stats you have been having some really big losses followed by weeks of STS, so I don't think this is anything at all to be concerned about as this seems to be a regular 'pattern' for you. I think you will have a big loss again next week, no problem.

    I agree it sounds like a coincidence. Or I found with scan bran challenge that a week was fine but if I tried a second everything stopped. Now I have it maybe 4 days out of 7 and don't experience the slow down. Maybe if you haven't tried it before 7 days was a couple too long. If your pattern is loss, loss maintain (as is mine) then you will probably have a really good one next week. Keep drinking!

    Thank you and thank you!! I'm getting my head around the gain, I do weigh during the week and things were looking good, so I think maybe in future I'd go for 4 or 5 days of scan branning and no more. Thanks so much, I'm glad I posted this now, feeling better already

    I lost 2lb this week. Was hoping for more and was 100% on plan, but glad I got the gain off. So scan bran didn't exactly boost my weight loss this time. Will try again one day but maybe only for 4 days.
