lost 140lbs only to gain 60 in 18 months

    Hello,

I am back for some much needed support. 18 months ago I started with a nhs dietian and food psychologist after I had lost all my weight. While dealing with the depression issues my dietian also asked me to let go of my horrible food habits. Then having some life issues get in the way (nearly homeless). I obviously let go to much, and have been struggling with getting going again.

I have my plan, a mix of what my dietian has taught me and calorie counting to make sure I'm not relaxing to much.

I walk most days for my exercise. I have been struggling to find enjoyable exercise that's avaliable and affordable. I love ice skating but there is no rink near by. So walking is the easiest, and cheapest thing I enjoy doing. I try for 5 miles a day, but that doesn't always happen.

I have my diaries I will have to get into the habit of writing instead of eating!
I lost 140lbs and have put 60lbs back on. Time to get my butt in gear!

Hiya hon. I already subscribe to your diary, but didn't want to read and run! What were the "horrible food habits" that your dietician wanted you to abandon, out of interest? I imagine a dietician would find most of my food habits horrible too, but they work for me, lol. I wouldn't stress too much about exercise, just do whatever you can, as long as you enjoy it, but focus on your eating habits, as they're what will really shift the weight again. You've done it once, you can do it again! xx

I was limiting myself to the extreme. Also not eating key things that my body needs. I was not eating fats at all. It may be a way to lose weight, but not a healthy way to live forever. I also had to work on not obsessing. I was changing my clothing 6 to 10 times for fear I looked fat. No matter what I wore, it was every time. Getting over that made emotional eating worse for awhile.

I understand why I had to let go as I reckon my crash and rebound would have been worse. Also learning not to comfort feed, and trying to find my inner 'stop eating' mechanism. I know that my body won't tell me to stop so portion control in very important. I learned a lot, but now I have to put it to use. Which is the hard part

As long as I start moving down weight wise on the scales I'll be happier.

I understand, hon, I've dealt with disordered eating a lot over the years, and still have quite a few weird habits, I think! It sounds as though you've been getting some valuable help with it though, and you're still 80lbs lighter than you were when you started, which is remarkable on itself! xx

Yep that's my main thought that I'm still a lot lighter than I was. I just need to stop the gaining, and if I manage to lose a few on the way that's even better. It was to easy to put on those 60, so I don't want to continue that.

It is scary how quickly the weight can go back on, the thought of it worries me because I've regained in the past. At my age I want this to be the last time, lol. xx

Yeah that's why in trying to find a 'diet' that if something I can live with for a long time. My plan is to make it a healthy eating plan so it will be the way to eat forever. But that's a long way off.
