Today wasn't too bad. The syns mostly came from the extra HEb and HEa (cheese and wholemeal pitta), which is a LOT better than coming from sugary, fatty foods, so I am pretty pleased with this... I already know next weekend is going to be dire - some friends are coming to stay, and we are going to a Medieval fair, where resistance will undoubtably be futile... MUST have a good week this week, and do plenty of exercise!

Not a bad day, but could have been better. Still, am finding that I am resisting temptation more at the moment, which is a good thing. And I have been doing more exercise thanks to the nice weather...

Ok, so today is not going to be a good day. AGAIN. I know this because I have a business breakfast to attend in the morning, and there is never anything healthy at those things. Its all bacon in baps and danish pastries... see 'snacka' above. So disaster strikes. And it will only be made worse as I am heading off to another WI event tonight - our 5th Wednesday social, which is our Jubilee Tea. Never going to be good...

So yesterday was not a good day, and I really don’t expect the next few days to be much better. So I have decided, after some deliberation, to give my diet a break. I will still keep a food diary, and probably lament over all the counted (and uncounted, no doubt) syns that I have consumed. But – ultimately – I want a break. So I’m taking one. :)

Total syns today: at least 40 SYNS today. Was the medieval fair, so I knew it was going to be bad! All tasted great though :)

Not a bad day today, all in all. I am back on Extra Easy, and trying hard after a decadent and indulgent weekend. I admit, I enjoyed not having to worry about it for the time off, and feel that I can be a bit more motivated to stay on track now. On a side note, I did only put on 1lb over the weekend, which really isnt all that bad considering. It must have been all the extra exercise I was doing without realising it!

I'm feeling quite a bit worse today. My throat hurts, and I am feeling al heavy and achy. This is not a good thing - I tend to feel hungry when I'm ill, and rely on convenience foods. However, I have just remember that I boiled eggs last night, in case I got the munchies, and I still have a mug shot left! Just the thing for a grotty day when I'm feeling rubbish :)

Ultimately, though, as you can see, we did succumb... Never mind!

Hi well done on your fab diary..Can you tell me how you make the potato Rosti I am eating porridge every morning so i could do with a change.Keep up the good work x

Sure, no worries:

Potato Rosti -


1 medium potato per person, peeled and halved

Boil the potato until firm, but not hard (test using a fork). Drain the water straight away, and let cool for a 5-10 mins. Grate onto a plate, and season to taste. Using your fingers, mold into shape, and spray with fry light. You can either grill (10-12 mins), over bake (20 mins), or fry (6-8) until crispy - simple and tasty!

Yesterday was ym fiance and I's 8 year anniversary. In celebration, we're actually going out tonight instead. I realise that thus far over the last few weeks, things haven't been going so well. But I am determined to enjoy myself this evening, and will be relatively unconcerned with the syn values of the food. I know it will all be good quality, and fresh, and not cooked with too much added fat etc. The rest of the day, however, will be good!
