This Little Piggy Goes to Atkins

Hello All, This is day one of induction for me. I have spent the period between July and mid September on Exante and then a few weeks on my own low carb diet, I lost 2 stone. This was so that I could wear a bikini on my holiday in Bali. I flew back from there yesterday and am really excited to start on induction today. I weighed in this morning at 12st 1lb and aim to go through the phases of Atkins so that I can stabilise at 9st 7lbs whenever I get there.

I'm off to buy a decent omlette pan today, I think I'll need one!!

Oooh hello! Nice to see you over on this board!

Funnily enough I keep thinking I fancy an omelette but always have too much other food planned to have one. Must poke at my menus a bit.

Yes do, I love looking at your menus! I've just had an omlette, which was more of a pancake as I had to do it in the frying pan. I did cheese and mushroom with chive and black pepper, very nice.

Ooh yummy, cheese and chive is my favorite too. It's an odd thing but I find a 2 egg omelette much more filling than say, 2 scrambled eggs. I wonder if it's just because it looks more like a proper meal.

Hello and welcome ....this board is so supportive and without this I certainly wouldn't of carried on with Atkins....I started off induction with eating loads omelettes too...but over the weeks have got my head round it more ......it does take a week or so to get your head round what u can and can't eat ......and experimenting in the kitchen....good luck x

Thanks Ange, looking forward to catching up with lots of Atkins diaries to pick up hints and tips. I did fairly well for a few Weeks before my holiday when I did my own low carb diet, but am really going to enjoy being a bit stricter on induction.

Thanks Susie, I do love low carb. I feel so good on it, and know that I feel so dreadful when I'm on the insulin roller coaster.
For lunch I've had watercress with ham, poached egg, avocado and a little sour cream. It was lovely and I'm feeling brill now. About to take the lovely hound out around the park.

Dinner was pork chop, cauli mash, broccoli and green beans with cream and mustard sauce. I didn't have a huge plate and feel nicely satiated now.

Must lower my cream intake tomorrow, and only have it in a couple of coffees. And I need to stop having sweeteners in coffee too. I stopped earlier this year, although it took quite a while, but now that I mainly drink black coffee I can't stand it unsweetened. I know too many sweeteners can stall weight loss though, and I don't want to take the risk.
Am seriously flagging now, and need sleep before another early start tomorrow to drop mum of at the coach station. Good night all

Slept until 0530, packed mum off on the coach to Plymouth at 0730. She is super excited as she's found somewhere to live nearer here, and moves down at the end of October.

The husband and I have had a lovely fry up and coffee for breakfast, and now reading the papers. Really hoping to stop feeling so dizzy, and get rid of the minor background headache today before going back to work tomorrow.

Morning Smiley

Might be an idea to start up a diary in the Diary section, as not everyone browses this part of the forum, and I'm sure they would like to say hi :)

The dizziness/headache is really common when you start Atkins, just part of the detoxing and flushing out carbs - it will pass really soon.

Thanks Susie, have asked to be moved to the diary section, but no joy as yet. Do you think I would be better to start again in that section or wait to be moved?

Make sure you're getting enough salt if you're feeling dizzy, atkins water flushing can leave you a little low on sodium.

I'm sure it will be moved asap, not need to start again unless you want to.

Hi Smiley, well done so far. Jealous of your trip to Bali - one of my favourite places:). Welcome to Atkins - it really is a great plan if you follow through all the phases!

Yep ML is right, Smiley - the site administrator gods are usually pretty quick :)

One thing I love for the dizzies on Atkins is drinking "soup" made from chicken stock. I use the Knorr Touch of Taste concentrated one - shake some drops in to taste, then add hot water - et voila, you get a yummy low carb drink plus it helps with the salt.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Will leave my diary until it gets moved, no big hurry. Have been making sure I have 2 bouillon drinks a day.
The dizzy and headaches are to be expected really as a combination of jetlag, totm due and getting back into ketosis. I can weather this storm!

Have ordered 3 x huge tubs of coconut oil, I can't stand to think I might run out! Have made some lovely chocolate bark in the freezer with coconut oil, cocoa and sweetener although didn't eat much as wasn't sure it's induction friendly? Mr husband loves it.
Have a lovely crust less quiche in the oven.
We are both feeling faint, so this afternoon it's bath and an hours sleep then hopefully I'll feel like swapping summer clothes for winter.
