Thumbs up I can do it this time! Kara's weight loss & TTC journey.

Hello everyone! I am fairly new to the forums, I have been reading peoples posts here for the past month and finally decided to join myself.

I have struggled with my weight for the past 8 years. In 2012 I finally decided to join my local Slimming World and lost 5 and a 1/2 stone, I never felt better. It all went out the window when I met my husband, and the weight finally crept back on. Now I am back to my original weight with an extra stone on top of it We really want to start TTC, but I have PCOS and my cycles are non existent anymore. My doctor suggests I lose some weight and thinks they will come back, and also it will be better for me to be pregnant if I am not as heavy. I have lost 11lbs in a month, which I am fairly happy with, I haven't done anything special apart from trying to eat better, cutting out all the junk food and full sugar cola. I am starting to take 45 minute walks a day now the weather is much better, my biggest problem has been lack of exercise. I moved away to live with my husband, and since then I really struggled with getting exercise. I am going to sign up for the gym this week, next week at the latest. I am waiting for my ID card to come through in the post then I will be able to sign up for the gym. I actually got a voucher in the post a few weeks ago, for 4 weeks free gym membership and no start up fee so I have no excuse not to use them, especially when the gym is a 2 minute walk from me.

I am going to weigh myself every Monday. I asked my hubby to hide the scales from me as I am constantly standing on them daily and it ruins my whole day if I haven't lost anything. I was driving myself crazy by doing that. I am going to take it half a stone at a time, and I will lose 5 1/2 stone for good this time. xx

Hello Kara and welcome. I am sure you can lose the weight - you've done it before, I know it must be frustrating to do it again but at least you know you can do it! I have PCOS too and I did have irregular cycles - sometimes you don't have to lose all the weight to get them back. Mine are regular now since about 2 and a half stone loss (for the first time in my life) and I am a lot heavier than you even now so sometimes just shifting some weight can make all the difference. I wish I had a gym that close to me - though it's no guarantee I'd actually go)

Hi, welcome! It sounds like you've got some good plans in place re hiding the scales, joining the gym, and taking things half a stone at a time. I find having small goals is better and it's great for your self-esteem when you reach one and set yourself the next target.

Good luck on your journey! Xx Essie xx

    Thanks for the welcome ladies

Small goals definitely help keep me motivated, when I look at how much I need to lose it easily becomes overwhelming. I have been to the gym before, I used to go with my aunty who helped motivate to go and she also went to Slimming World with me even though she didn't really need to go. I will have to go alone this time, and hopefully posting on here will help motivate me to go.

I am currently trying to follow a low G.I diet, so far so good. I haven't felt as tired and fatigued either so hopefully my energy levels will keep up.

    Welcome to the forms.

I hope you don't mind me asking but have you tried Angus Castus for your PCOS? I had irregular cycles before I got my BFP and found in that month it must have fixed my cycle and got me pregnant. Then again I was also dealing with fortnightly periods, not funny at all.

Keep up to the good work, you can do it

Found it really hard to sleep last night, my head wouldn't shut up. Woke up this morning feeling slightly worn out but I am still going to go out and take my walk, hopefully this will bring me some energy

Breakfast: Oatmeal with cinnamon, and an apple and green tea.
Lunch: 1 slice of Swedish ryebread (it's similar to Scan Bran you get from SW), with light Philadelphia, cucumber and pepper. With a small bowl of low fat natural yoghurt.
Snacks: Carrot sticks and small glass of orange juice.
Dinner: Chilli Con Carne made with quorn mince, rice and a baby spinach salad.

I know we can't see the portions when reading someone's diary, but did this food satisfy you?
It doesn't seem enough (not for me, at least) :/

I hope you day gets better!

I feel satisfied so far. I know it might not sound a lot, I really find the oats and ryebread quite heavy on my stomach. I am trying to eat until I feel satisfied and not over full. My biggest problem before was not eating throughout the day and then taking a huge portion for my dinner and snacking on chocolate and crisps in the evening. If I find myself going hungry at any point I will increase my calorie intake I am currently out of work and honestly will admit my levels of being active aren't very great which is why I am trying to take daily walks.

If you are satisfied then this is what matters
I try to make sure I can reach a reasonable levels of nutrients when controlling my own calories (I use cronometer.com as I didn't like MFP), but I kind of eat a lot (lots of low calorie things, though).

    Well my day got better.

I have been out of work for over 18months since I moved to Sweden. I applied for a temporary job at my husbands work earlier this year, which fell through. However my hubbys boss called me today, and offered me a position for 2 months starting on the 6th July with a possibility to turn into a permanent contract at the end of the 2 months. I am really really happy as I didn't expect it, I had given up on it! The job will include a lot of physical work, so it now motivates me even more to lose weight and get in shape before I start there. It's a short while away, so I am aiming to lose 1 and a half stone before I start.

Brilliant news on the job offer congratulations

I'd definitely recommend the agnus castus. When I take it regularly my cycles improve so much and alongside the weight loss they do get shorter and shorter. I had a 3 week gap from taking it when we moved house so am in the process of getting it back into my system, but I'm hoping it won't be too long before my next cycle starts.

Keep up the fantastic work, it's obvious your diet is working for you xx
