McFatty Von Chocolate: A Diary & Blog (2012)

Hi there :D

I've spent some time reading through the diaries here most of my morning (instead of... you know, working... ), and find everyone's stories so inspirational that I thought I should start my own. Not just to keep track of things for myself, but hey, if things go well enough, maybe someone else might be able to take something home from what I'm getting right (or even wrong...!).

A little about me:

I started Slimming World in summer 2010, and went religiously for a year and a half. I quickly lost 2 stones in 6 months, but then my weight loss rate started to settle down into something like normality.

And then I got cocky.

And the weight crept back on...

I started this year a stone heavier than January last year.

Which makes approximately £260 on SW classes (and lord knows how much on recipe books etc) which I have wasted. Pathetic, isn't it?

So it's January 2012, I'm feeling determined, and actually positive that I can and will continue my journey.

I'll show that cake who's boss!

This first post is to help keep track of the challenges I'm setting myself for 2012:

Thread Challenges:
  • Group:: Work towards that 6 stone (and then some) loss!

Personal Challenges:
  • Write about one thing each day that I'm proud of.
  • Work towards Body Magic Awards
  • Take part in the weekly challenges set by my (awesome) SW Consultant.

If you know of any SW challenge threads you think I might be interested in - let me know! It's all about the challenges for me this year :D

So, without further ado...

Diary:

15:00 ~

So far, it's been a great start to the first day back on plan! I've eaten well (even risking a nibble at one of my Graze punnets.... which are just too delicious to neglect!) and am feeling really positive at the moment. I might even go to Zumba tonight... depending on whether I fall asleep on the sofa or not...

Seriously, I have been ridiculously overtired for the last few weeks. I think it's due to me straying away from plan for so long. I haven't been eating as many fruits or veg, and I've just been so lethargic. One thing I'm really looking forward to about staying on plan is how much energy I have - Hopefully now I'll be able to keep up with my daughter!

16:00 ~

I escaped work! Naughty me

Seeing as I'm home now, I thought I'd update my diary with a little but more. Keeps me from thinking about food...

I had WI last night, and discovered I'd put on 5lbs over Xmas and New Year. Usually that kind of weight gain would crush my spirits, but it's totally deserved (and then some!). However, it does really make me feel as though the last year has been a complete waste of time weight loss wise, seeing as I started 2011 weighing 18 st 7 lbs, and now I weigh just over 19 stone.

Oops.

Note to self: Must be better.

I have a few challenges already set up for my week ahead! Firstly, I have the 6 Stone Challenges: Eat 5 super frees a day, and do 30 minutes of exercise.

The exercise isn't too much of a problem for me, as I am restarting my swimming routine (I go every morning I'm able to before work). On the weekends I'll try to do a little walking to bump up my minutes, as many times in the morning I do my quota of lengths in faster times.

I stick to 20 lengths a day to start off with, and this morning that took me only 20 minutes - which is unbelievably fast considering I've hardly been to the pool in the last six months. When a week or so has gone by I'll start bumping my lengths up (Until I run out of time of course...)

Was considering Zumba tonight but after phoning my local Gym I found out the class has been postponed this week to allow everyone to recover fully from New Years. I still really want to go sometime, so hopefully next week, routine allowing.

I have another challenge to think about during the week too - the dreaded Scan Bran Challenge! Our consultant asked us to try out a scan bran recipe to bring in to group next week... I'm tempted by the Scan Bran Truffles (Ferrero Rocher) I've seen floating about, but I'm worried about keeping nutella in the house!!

They are incredibly tempting though... will keep you posted on my experiments!

I have the latest SW magazine sitting next to me, and I promised myself that I'd scout through my back catalogue for recipes I want to try, and type them in my computer where it's easier to find them. So I'm going to head off to do just that.

Happy Slimming!

What am I most proud of today?

Resisting Parsley Sauce with my Gammon dinner, in favour of a hot chocolate (I mean come on, no contest, right? ;) )

Diary:

11:00 ~

Looking good so far today. The only sore point is that I slept through about 12 alarms this morning... whoops.

That means I've missed my morning swim, and I'll have to find something else to replace the time lost. Looking at my local leisure centre's timetable I have the following options:

  • Aerobic class, 6-7pm (Bleurgh)
  • Aqua Fit, 8-9pm (hmmm)
  • Go for a swim after work, in my own time, 5pm-7pm

Weighing up my options aerobics is definitely out... too many bad memories! But I remember I enjoyed aqua fit the last time I went. The only downside is the time. So if I don't manage to go swimming after work, I'll do my best to go to aqua fit instead.

The added bonus of aqua fit is it would bring my average exercise up for the week, meaning the 6 stone challenges would be easier :p

Typing this entry up as I eat my fruit salad (which is delicious! scrummy!) and trying to plan out my evening. I think Spag Bol for dinner tonight... can't help myself, I love the stuff!

Best get back to work really. will update later with more!

What am I most proud of today?

I've drunk plenty of water, for the first time in months!

LOL Good point! I think I'll probably do the same (with the bloggish part of my diary at least) when I get to that point. Nice to have a more private forum to moan on ;)

hi hun love the title of ur diary, good luck losing the lbs xx

Thanks val! Call it a moment of craziness lol. x

Been looking around for something sweet to munch on (I always do at this point in the afternoon...) and boy am I glad I saved my syns!

Started checking the syns for a few graze punnets I have lying around.

15.jpg

Fennel Seed & Honey Peanuts: 9 Syns

15.jpg

Copacabana: 14 1/2 Syns!!!!!

15.jpg

Sweet Goan Curry Crackers: 4 Syns

I think I might start compiling a big ole' list of these. Not sure if anyone else gets these delivered to them, but they are gorgeous snacks, so it might be worth finding out which ones (Like Copacabana) I don't want to waste my delivery slots on anymore... Sigh.

IKR! But then that is one of the more indulgent punnets, it's half brazil nuts and half chocolate, so I can forgive that one.

Just munched through my curry crackers in two seconds flat. blah. Never mind at least the flavour lasts (if I dont have a drink lol!)

Love the name of your food diary so much, brilliant! :8855:

Looks as though you're getting on really well! Well done, I'm sure you'll reach your goals in no time xx

hehe thanks stevie :)

Things are going well for now, but then my first week "Back on It" generally does. Need to do a bit more exercise though, having a very lazy day today!

Can still taste the curry crackers. yummy :p

Just scoffed my bowl of Spag Bol.... Have sauce all over my face lol. Yummy!

Made my first attempt at the Scan Bran Ferrero Rocher too... I'm not too impressed atm in all honesty. The flavour is nice, but the bran doesn't seem to want to soak up any of the moisture, so I'm left with sludgy grainy balls of... well I won't say what they look like lol. I'll leave 'em in the fridge overnight and see how they turn out, but I think I'll be better off trying a scan bran cake tbh.

I also made a batch of my own syn-free houmous (using red peppadews... yummy!) There's a big ole jar of it also in the fridge, chilling away so I can take some in to work with me tomorrow. Will make an ideal munchy time snack with some veggies.

Time to go raid the cupboards for something sweet. I have no AL bars, so I might have to settle for a hot choccy. However I've barely had any syns yet today, so I might even have a few cheeky marshmallows on top. YUM

hi hun i made the fererro rocher i made them with 2 weetabix they were a lot nicer and worth the extra syns (although you could have the weetabix as ur h/e b and just count the 12 syns for the nutella then eat them all for breakfast ;)) xx

lol incredibly tempting of a weekend innit? ;) I'll give that a go thanks hun. Been seeing so many recipes for these things around that I'm determined to find one I like eventually.

As for the scan bran.... I think I'll stick to cakes lol.

Loving the diary so far ... do you know ... I think you are going to succeed! :D

:) Thanks Ali *Hug* I hope so, it's been a long time coming!

Hi hun, just found your diary :) you are doing so well lady!! Loved your radioactive soup as well hehe, I made a "creamy mushroom soup" this week and I won't even mention what it looked like :( bleugh!! Did taste scrummy though, just needed to keep your eyes shut eating it!!
