hi all! im new have been taking orlistat for 4 days now.
iv got a lot to lose but im determined and i will do it!!

just wondering since starting the tablets i get a bit of pain around my bottom ribs towards the side has anyone else had this whilst taking orlistat? i havnt had any today thank god!! (im probs just being paranoid!)

iv been having a small bowl of cereal for breakfast, 2 sandwiches with lettuce red onion and a small slice of ham for lunch and my evening meal varies however last night it was some soup, the night before that i had a stir fry with salmon and veg.

today its my day off work and iv been naughty n had 2 of these low fat chocolate dessert/yoghurt things aswell as some toast with apricot jam and my bowl of cereal and iv had some of the dreaded orangeness! the desserts did say they were less than 3% fat and when i looked at the nutritional info it wasnt very much but there was clearly some fat somewhere n the tablets have done their bit for that slip up.

im trying to have as little fat as possible in my meals making healthier choices and snacking a lot less than i would normally!

i've got about 4 or 5 stone to lose (not decided yet) so i know it will take a little while but im going on holiday on 12th november and would absolutely love for some noticeable results by then!

Hi. Welcome. You'll like it in here.

It may well have been the salmon. It's an oily fish and affects some people but not others. Also remember to check that you're looming at the fat grams per 100g not the pot or portion amounts.

Hi, iv read that it could have been the salmon, I hope not cause I love it! I was checking per portion will definitely do per 100g from now! I'm just hoping this works so much! I'm sure it will as there's so many success stories and I'm so determined, gonna go to the gym today!

Wild salmon is generally ok x

I'm doing really rubbish I've been eating healthy apart from a few slip ups and I havnt lost a lb I'm just into my 2nd week I know I'm being impatient but I just want this to work so bad! Got an appointment at the docs tomorrow so will discuss it then, gonna go to the gym in a min n maybe also do an exercise DVD when I get back, I am almost certain it's my fault I havnt lost as so many people have such great success I need to get my bum into gear, my clothes feel a little bit better but that's probs just psychological... Rant over! Gonna stop moaning n go to the gym!

Hi

Do you use myfitnesspal.com which is a free phone app and a web site - perhaps check your cal intake, see what level of cals your eating

Are you drinking enough water? 2 litres a day min and more if you can.. Remember juice doesn't count towards your water intake ..

Have fun at the gym :)

Home made soups saved me last winter! Xx

Yesterday I must have done 3 hours of exercise and was very good with my food! Finally got a plan at the gym n I did a ministry of sound workout DVD (hard work but fun) and danced around to music I took some pro plus n it really helps me work out! Having a lot of side effects today of the orange n yellow kind I cooked a roast dinner the other day n was a bit naughty n used olive oil ill just be having a salad when I get in tonight n I think Im just gonna have 2 tablets a day till it all calms down I'd lost a lb yesterday before all the exercise only to find out at the doctors my scales are wrong! Gonna buy some decent ones on my next day off!

Must get back to work now as iv took a break from writing my care plans! Iv had a a low fat tuna mayo sandwich n tomato soup plus a cheeky 2 biscuits for dinner.

Breakfast was a medly bfast bar n yoghurt n granola!

Roll on home time at 8pm!

Sorry to contradict, hon, but there's two fairly common misconceptions there. The NHS say the recommended amount to drink is 1.2 litres a day, and that absolutely can include juice (or indeed any other type of non-alcoholic drink, but water, milk and juice are best). The 2 litres includes all the water we get from food and chemical reactions in the body. I'm just mentioning this because it can actually be dangerous to drink too much water - just drink when you're thirsty and you'll be fine. :) xx

Lol, just saw you're a nurse, so you don't really need telling about NHS guidelines. ;) xx

Haha no worries tbh I never pay any attention to the amounts they suggest as guidelines are always changing, current plan is just to drink a bit more (sadly water not alcohol)

At work again n not doing too bad although I pinched a Yorkshire pudding off the dinner trolley! Had soup for dinner n porridge for breakfast!

Mmm, yorkshire pudding sounds good, haven't had one of those for ages! I must admit I don't drink water myself - about 90% of my fluid intake is tea and coffee, the rest is squash, but it's all fine. I don't believe in rules when it comes to weight loss, you just have to find your own way. :)

Keep up the good work! xx

Still havnt lost any weight! It just fluctuates between 1lb +/- depending on what horrible mood the scales are in I'm going to the gym eating a lot healthier and nothing is happening might just have to go on a salad diet or something I think I might cut out bread completely, iv heard cutting out carbs for a week then eating less carbs is meant to kick start weightloss but I find that idea absolutely depressing! Maybe not as depressing as being fat! Disheartened but still going to plod on! I think iv solved my emotional eating!

Why don't you write a food diary on here of what your eating and perhaps we can help you tweak what your eating.

The low fat snack items are often full of sugar, which makes some people stall in their weight loss.

Yes good idea
Today I got up late so I have only had a bowl of porridge made with water n a handful of chocolate peanuts (bad I know but i had seen a cadburys Oreo bar n wanted it so bad so compromised I should have just said no altogethe) I plan on having a ham salad with bit of balsamic vinegar for tea n iv just done my workout DVD as I felt so rubbish bout the lack of weightloss I didn't wanna go to the gym n see all the beautiful people! I'm just getting ready to go to the cinema with my boyfriend and I'm wondering whether to take some pineapple chunks n strawberries or just completely go without the snacks, probs gonna take some fruit so I have no excuse to eat anything bad!

Yesterday I had porridge with strawberries a fallafel wrap n a jacket sweet potato with beans n salad!

Today iv had porridge with a bit of honey then 2 sausages n a few biscuits at work (binge) n iv got some salad n home made veg soup for dinner no cream in the soup and just balsamic vinegar on my salad then probs more soup for tea!

Scales said iv lost a lb jeans feel looser and I bought a pair that were a size smaller than norm (fingers crossed its not just a generous pair of jeans!)

I also worked my bum off at the gym!
Tried my swimming stuff on yesterday happy in the costume but need to lose my leg n stomach fat for the tankini! I will be fit for Egypt!
