The Check-in Point

Morning girlies, thanks for the welcome lorny :) can I ask how the no count thing works I've never heard of it, I'm really back to basics, and re learning I can't remember much from the last time I was on ww, I can't remember if we have any spare points to use up over the week, or is it just that u can save up to 4 pts a day if u know u have a special date later in the week that u could use the pts for? Lorny ur so good going to the gym in this heat I was planning on going last night but was too shattered, I'm looking after my cousins dog for a few days so I'm planning on going on a walk with him tonite after work, and I'll aim to get to the gym on sat, it's so hard!

Anyway started back on ww this morning so fingers crossed my first day goes well, I'm feeling very positive, new day start of a new me again :) x

Morning Mel-lou
Right, you have no 'weeklies' with discover but you have your allotted points and the guidelines are that you can save up to 4 points a day for something, but that you must use them up and break even by the end of the week. You can earn extra bonus points by doing exercise that you can also use or not if you would like to speed up weight loss. I suggest that you only eat the points that you have earned that are above and beyond the points you usually earn - for example I run 3 times a week, but I do it every week so I don't use these. If I also did a zumba class, because I don't usually do this, I could eat extra points I've earned. You are allowed to eat all your activity points though so it's up to you.

No-count or core used to run alongside the normal weight watchers points programme, but wasn't publicised so much. You basically have a list of foods you can use without pointing, BUT you are only allowed to eat until you are satisfied (not full or stuffed). You then get 35 points a week to spend on whatever you like that isn't core, you could have 5 a day or blow them all at the weekend. The hardest bit is knowing when you are full, if you can't read your body signals then it is easy to over eat. I'm giving it a go, but pointing too to compare. Simply filling is the latest ProPoints one, the only real difference is that they have 49 points instead of 35 extras. I suggest you get to grips with the normal points programme first x

How's it going so far?

Crikey, only 6 points for a pizza! I could grill up some veggies for on the side too. Sounds good! Then a big packet of sweet n salty Skinny popcorn is 5 points, and that's a whole load of popcorn! I suppose cuz she is smaller than me, she's ok to just eat what she wants. There was a time when I was loads smaller than her! Now I'm a few stone heavier than her. I hope she doesn't buy chocolate or biscuits or whatever, cuz I'll be wayyyy too tempted. I'll tell her I'm trying to be good though, I hate telling people I'm on a diet, as they either ask me how I'm doing constantly, and some will ask 'if I should be eating that'. It's not even people I socialise with, but they still want to stick their noses in. So I don't tell anyone now. I'm hoping they don't mention any weight loss until I've lost a couple of stone at least, as I can't deal with people thinking I'm dieting when I'm only a few weeks in. I've been thinking that I could be 13st for xmas. That would be absolutely amazing, and certainly would be a motivation not to stuff myself silly.

I agree with Hules, Mel-Lou, that you should get to grips with the standard points before you start changing things up. I certainly couldn't allow myself to eat until I'm full anyway, as I wouldn't stop! That's the reason I'm this big in the first place!

I totally get that, though rather than saying you're dieting, just say you're trying to eat a bit healthier. You will be amazing by Xmas, you will, you will, you will! :) Other pizzas to consider: Goodfellas solos - all the veggie ones are 5.5-6.5p, and the WW ones look low too. I'd have all the grilled veggies stacked up on top :) I like my pizza loaded :D I'll have a look at Tesco when I go (waiting for the washing to finish).

Wicked, thanks! I think the WW ones were about nine points for the ones that had a regular topping.

Have you planned all your meals?

So I had a 10pts before gym, spent an hour in there, and just had a protein shake and veg sushi pack for 8pts. That leaves me with 6pts when I'm out for another shake.

I hope everyone else is having a good day!

I had a look in tesco and it was pants for healthy pizza options!?? What else do you have around you shop wise? None of the pizzas I mentioned were there (though I forgot to check for WW ones and the book is quite old!). Hmmm

You should see my shopping, sooooo healthy! :)

My local doesn't have WW pizzas! I think the cheese pizza is the best option for me, the Goodfellas solos are quite small too I think. So I've just had 3pts stuffing, 2pts chicken, and 5 or 6 leaves of spring greens. I'm hoping I've lost a decent amount of weight this week. Only one more broken sleep until I find out! I was in such a bad mood today, I was so tempted to just eat whatever the hell I wanted. It better have been worth it!

So, another good day :) Had a warburton thins sarnie with bleu cheese laughing cow light, sliced pear, thin slice of ham and lettuce (2.5)(yum - my fave sarnie filling at the mo). Snacked only on a little bunch of grapes, 3 cherries and 2 mange tout (0.5)! Tea was naked cod and a roast veg pasta (7.5) followed by ww apple crumble yog (1). Brekkie was 4.5p so 16p in total! And no crisps! On no-count I would have spent 3.5 - I'm all full up and have definitely made up my points. Weigh in tomorrow - cross those fingers for at least a stay the same!

How's everyone else got on today?

So how many points do you actually get? 16 seems awfully low!

Ahhh, don't you worry about me hun x:) I know how going under points regularly can affect your losses too! 16 IS low if you did that every day. You get 35 points a week plus any food you like from the no-count list (which is huge). I've not been snacking at all the last two days to make up or my mega binges on Sunday/Monday (we're talking lemon torte here) which is why it is low, but I'd definitely up the snacks in between meals usually, I'd only need another banana and an special K bar or something and I'd be there. The thing is, I do have days when I'm going to spend more than my 21 points and it's only like saving them to spend later (or clawing them back in my case). Mostly I've been doing both out of interest.

All that is just too confusing! I am happy to stick to my points and leave it at that! I should have weighed myself, cuz I've had a couple of coffees already, and when I head to the gym I'll end up having a ton of water. I'm sure after a few widdles I'll be fine!

Haha, I don't blame you, points are lovely and simple :).

I hate it when I'm supposed to weigh in and forget and then have my brekkie. I've done it a few times now. Good luck for after your widdles :D, fingers crossed for you honey x

I'll weigh in once I've had a run. Off now while it's not too warn.

Morning, I think ur right to stick to just pointing till in back in the swing of things b4 I attempt a new routine :)

I feel the first day went well, fingers crossed for day too, but not got any plans today other then work so just hot to make sure I don't snack on empty points :) ur very good hules going for an early morning run :)

Does anyone know I have 2pt for 1 pint of milk a day and in the folder it says 30g porridge oats made with water is 1.5pts if I added some milk would it alter the pts as I've already counted for the milk in my daily 2pts for 1 pint? Hope that makes sense

If I'm getting what you're saying, if you've given yourself an allowance of milk, yes that's the 2pts. Porridge oats are 1.5pt for dry weight, which means so long as you point any milk used above that pint you've already pointed (ha!), it's fine! Otherwise milk and porridge is 2.5 points.

I'm just sauntering home from the gym, I did an hour of medium intensity uphill walking. I enjoy it more when I don't think I'm dying! Now for a nice day of chilling.

Oh, and well done Mel-Lou for a good first day. I often find it's the earliest stages that we give in most. The first week is a challenge, with the change. The second week is equally challenging, where you tell yourself to keep up tge good work. I find after the first month I really settle into it. I've already been getting the hang of it, discussing potential disaster and self sabotage!

That's why I find it really important to keep posting on here, it reminds me we are all struggling the same!

Morning Mel-Lou,
If you've already counted the points for milk, you don't have to count them again. I only like running in the morning, I get up, get in my running gear, have a swig of water then I'm off. It's as if I have to go before I've properly woken up and can think of a reason why I shouldn't go :D Also I get horrible stitch or feel full and uncomfortable if I've had anything to eat or drink for at least 3 hours before.

Sounds like you had a good day 1, well done hun x

Edit: Heh, Lorny, we posted at the same time :)

Well done lady! You are really doing great with the exercise now xx That's another reason why I love it, I'm all done first thing and I can relax and enjoy my day.

Thanks girls, that's wit I thought with the porridge :) I can't go to the gym in the morning as 3 days a week I have to be at work for 7 and the other 2 days in at 8 so no time instead I have my gym stuff in my boot and go straight from work then it's done and I don't get bk home and think oh I can't be bothered to go to the gym it feels like its part if my working day as its in the way home, sneaky hey, it was a good idea from my boyfriend. Went fr a nice hour long work with him and my cousins dog last Night prob do the same again tonight as soon as I get in pooch can have a run and I can have a nice early eve walk!
It so right lorny the first few days r very difficult to keep going and resist the eurge to cheat but I just keep reminding myself how well I did last time on ww and that I can do it if I just persevere plus with this wedding in Portugal in October I've got a perfect goal to work towards as we'll as just doing it for myself :) do guys work shift work then as runoff today? X

I'd love a dog to come out on walks with us or when I go out for a run. Hubby says no though until we retire (meany!)!
