Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Cole still has about 7-8oz three times a day. He asks for a drink of milk so I'm not going to deny him it. He goes to the fridge and points at me to open the door then grabs the carton of milk. I live drinking milk, I can drink pints of it, so he's just taking after mummy x

Cole is 15 months next week and I have NO idea where that time has gone, he didn't seem to stay a baby long because he crawled at 7 months and walked at 10 so I had a toddler before I knew it!! He's not a huge fan of talking yet, says mamma & mum, dad, nana, grandad, grandma, Isla (his cousin)...

    Hello fasting!!

I'm posting on my old one. It's in the Silvers sections, Getting to goal with a baby in tow. Don't want to keep starting new diaries and hoping to come back to this one in a month or so. I can't do SW long term, it just doesn't work for me as I get bored. But for a good start it's fab. I feel...

    Hello fasting!!

Hey Hun, just been having a catch up of diaries. Been having a break and using the coil issues as an excuse ;) am giving SW another try although not going to meetings. Ultimately fasting is what I want to do but got an appt with a gynae 8 weeks tomorrow and I know they'll blame weight. So I'm...

    Hello fasting!!

Aargh, diet failing. Need to pull it back but been really suffering with migraines and dizziness so until that settles I'm just trying to make good choices. Saw doctor and had coil out because she thought it could be contributing, especially with the bleeding, so hoping things settle down. Still...

    Hello fasting!!

That's what I do anyway but I found I wasn't eating much on Tuesdays. I figure if I work out how many calories I need per week to lose weight then minus off my fast days and divide the rest between the remaining days as long as I'm getting the right calories I should be ok. Today is a write off...

    Hello fasting!!

Fast day today. So far not hungry. Got a cup of peppermint tea which is keeping the hunger away. Have brought a cup a soup and some vegetable crisps to much on, adds up to 130 calories. Then tea will be pasta with a sauce I made yesterday so it's just tomatoes, peppers and onion. There's about...

  14. sarah_lou1981

    stared yesterday any help/advice welcome.x

Good luck with your weight loss. I've just finished week 3 (although week 2 wasn't great) and have lost 4kg. Scales have been put away now until 1st March as I'm a daily weigher. I have 500 on fast days and try to keep it under 2000 on non fast days. I have 3 fast days if I can though x

  17. sarah_lou1981

    Hello fasting!!

It's Tom's lie in day today but as soon as he gets up I'm making him put the scales in the boot of his car. He hid them under Cole's drawers last time and I found them when Cole threw a dummy under the drawers. This time I don't want to have access to them!! Get Luke to do the same with yours?xx
  18. sarah_lou1981

    Hello fasting!!

Been thinking and I've decided I'm not going to weigh now until March 1st. I've got no set targets or mini goals in mind so I don't need to weigh every week. Going to ask Tom to hide the scales. Very nervous, I'm a daily weigher usually. But if I can do it and get a loss then good. If I don't...

Decided to get weighed and I'm another kg down :D That'll do me!! So 4kg off in 3 weeks. In the past I would have been disappointed that it's not a massive loss but this time I've got no rush. I'm half a stone less now than I was last summer and the summer is still at least 4 months away so...

I'd never diet if I waiting for the bleeding to stop. Have had 6 weeks off since the start of September :( had blood tests yesterday to check for anaemia but they always come back negative. I don't get migraines very often, maybe a couple of times a year, but this one is probably one of the...

    Hello fasting!!

So the fast day didn't go as planned. Started with a migraine last night that had me up half the night despite paracetamol and codeine. My Mum's given me a kg of frozen garlic sausage meat. Tom won't eat it so what can I make for me and Cole? And once it's cooked can I freeze the meals? Believe it or not I've got numerous food certificates but can't we remember the simple things!

  36. sarah_lou1981

    Hello fasting!!

Think the double fast has made me less hungry again! All I've had today is some peppermint tea, raisins and tomato soup. Hello fasting!!

Right, yesterday I bloody forgot I was fasting (how?!) and didn't realise until I'd eaten so I just kept the calories low-ish. Having a fast day today. So far I've had three glasses of water and two cups of peppermint tea. Working and fasting is far easier than I expected....apart from when...

    Hello fasting!!

I know. It's bad enough we have periods and labour!! Mind you, Tom says he's going for the snip after we've had another baby so I don't have to worry about contraception then :D x
  52. sarah_lou1981

    Hello fasting!!

Mini pill and injection both did it to me. It's got really heavy this week (tmi!) and it's floored me. Doctor won't take it out until I've had swabs but can't do swabs until I'm not bleeding. Aargh!! X

  56. sarah_lou1981

    Hello fasting!!

If you contain it you're better than me, all I do is eat rubbish when I'm hungover. Are you boozing for a special occasion? Coil is coming out as soon as my period goes, whenever that is! Just got to be very careful over the next 10 months as we can't afford any accidents :o xx
  57. sarah_lou1981

    Hello fasting!!

Not as well as I should be :( had a few rubbish days thanks to my coil so not been as healthy as I should have. Stayed the same weight wise, which is more than I deserve!! Back on it now though, can't use things as an excuse forever. How are you doing?xx

    Hello fasting!!

So back to work today. Was horrible leaving Cole but he didn't care, went off happily with my Dad and didn't give me a second glance! Food wise I've barely eaten. Had a gingerbread nakd bar and a heinz chicken cup a soup which equates to about 233 calories I think. Pie and veg for tea though...

    Hello fasting!!

It was far better than I expected but I wasn't on the phones, had too many emails and policy changes to catch up on. X I usually would have failed spectacularly but something stopped me this time. Think it's the thought of ttc again, I want to get four stone off before we get pregnant. X

I agree, it's good that we can fit it around busy days. I'm always going to try to fast on Fridays as WI is Saturday but being totally flexible with my other 2/3 days. 74. sarah_lou1981

    Hello fasting!!

Haha I agree with you with the peeing all the time. Had a twix. Well, one finger of it. We got some single fingers because they were on offer. Another fast done :) theyre getting easier as I get used to them. Really fancied a twix today but told myself if I still want one tomorrow I can have one. No, I don't really get on well with Slimming World because I'm prone to binge eating and being told I can have 'free' foods doesn't work. I tend to follow Rosemary Conley rules where I can, which is to try to mainly eat foods under 5% fat but at the minute I'm not worrying too much about...

  85. sarah_lou1981

    Hello fasting!!

Oh and I've done Cambridge and Slim & Save and both made me sick and lethargic too. I did them before I had Cole but I have no idea how people do them consistently with a baby, I felt dizzy quite a lot on it.

    Hello fasting!!

I think you should all come over too, it'll be nice to have some more newbies like me as well as the more experienced fasters. Hello fasting!!

Weighed in slightly earlier and I'm down 3kg exactly, which my rough maths tells me is just short of half a stone (or 6.6lbs). Really happy with that considering the meal out I had. Hello fasting!!

The last UD of the week completed and ready for my last DD of the week tomorrow then WI Saturday. According to the scales I'm 400g up tonight from yesterday morning but I have just had jacket potato with cheese and salad so not bad at all. Hoping after tomorrow it'll go back down and I'll get a...

    Hello fasting!!

Back from our meal out and today has been an overindulgent UD. Had chicken and chorizo tagliatelle in marscapone sauce followed by panacotta with biscotti. Oh and a glass of red wine. Was worth it though, was lovely to have our first 'date' in over a year.
  108. sarah_lou1981

Fasting through January and hopefully beyond!

So far not too bad. I've struggled more with my up days because I've not thought about food on fast days so I've carried on not thinking about it on UD's. But going out for a meal tonight that will involve pudding so will be making up for it ;)

Oh Hun, I totally understand how you feel. I've not done SW for a while but I always used to lose more when I did red days than green or EE. I know you can't do red or EE but could it be a carb thing maybe? I've not been that good at keeping up on diaries so haven't seen everything you've had...

Fasting through January and hopefully beyond!

Joining you for the ride, if that's ok. Am new to fasting, I started Saturday, so having a nosey through people's diaries for inspiration and support. I've got quite a bit to lose (5 stone - eek!) so hoping there are plenty of people to keep me on the straight and narrow ;) Good luck x

    Scales your going down!

Subscribing if that's ok :) I'm a newbie too, started on Saturday so my first WI is this Saturday coming. I'm planning on having 2/3 DD a week depending on plans but one of them will nearly always be Friday. I'm struggling with eating enough on my UD, my calories have been quite low. Good luck!!

I've never tried that!! That's an idea. Usually ten minutes ish, depending on size. Once I can get a sharp knife in easily but the skin isn't horrible and wrinkly. And then 10 mins uncovered in the oven x
  120. sarah_lou1981

    Hello fasting!!

I never microwave food as a rule but with jacket potatoes I microwave them first then crisp them up in the oven. As long as you catch them in the microwave before they go wrinkly they're fluffy inside and crispy outside. Yum!x

    Hello fasting!!

Well it was going to be a fast day until I realised I've done two and I want to fast the day before WI every week so need to fast Fridays. Need to do an online shop tonight so tea is just jacket potato with cheese, salad and beetroot. And I can't wait!!xx

I've always given milk first until a couple of months ago then I started giving it separate. So he has milk at approx 6.30am, 10am and 2.30pm. Then food at 7.30am, 12pm and 5.30pm then maybe a bit of supper at 7pm. Until Cole started eating 'proper' meals I gave his milk first then food about 20...

Omg I'm sorry! My little boy had my phone while I was changing him. I don't even follow SW! Haha. Clearly Cole wants me to ;) sorry again x

We put Cole on hungry baby but not until he was about 3 months. He never suffered with constipation or anything but I think we were lucky. If you're not happy about it you don't have to put him on it. Just because he's growing fast doesn't mean he needs to be on HB. Was it your HV? Cole is on...

We're having some at my sisters but watching them from inside through the French doors. We thought about taking him to a display but if he hates it and gets upset it means he's not happy just before bed. So we're waiting until he's older to take him to a proper display. Plus I don't like the...

Cole used to take 8-9oz bottles but he prefers his food. He now has 5oz when he gets up, 5oz mid morning and 5oz mid afternoon. He dropped his bedtime one, he refuses anything after his tea.

Cole bashes his on our leather storage ottoman in the living room. He loves playing in the water that spills. Oliver will be drinking from it in no time. Cole first drank from his when Tom was on annual leave which was the second week of June so 5 and half months. Took him a bit longer to figure...

Cole's had one since about 5 months too and has always drunk out of it fine. He still bangs it on his highchair though, even though he knows what to do with it. I think they like the noise and mess. We've got a TT one too. X

We weaned Cole at 17 weeks but he was totally ready, chewing from the start and loved it!! A friend tried her baby a few times but ended up waiting until 6 months because she wasn't ready. I'd say if he's not opening his mouth and showing no interest then he probably isn't ready yet. Just keep...

I agree. This is the reason I didn't get a Doppler. I barely felt Cole move at all unless I poked or prodded him but they said that was just my placenta and as long as his pattern didn't change it was fine. Always best to go to the pregnancy unit to get a trace done though. Xx

Aw good luck Kellie. Fingers crossed they can turn him. But, if not, as long as he's here safe and well with his mummy then that's all that matters xx

That's what I don't want. We've both agreed that the house is for Cole and any other children we have. My dad has the same problem. His house was his and my mums. He bought my mum out and when he met my step mum had about 4 years left on the mortgage. But she was a single parent and my step...

Yeah I think it is here too but I mean if I die. If we split up we've already got a plan in place with us having Cole etc. It just needs to be done legally and signed which will be done when we make our wills. If I die then Tom can live in the house until he dies too, it's called a life benefit...

Also, we've not got anything in place as to who has Cole but, until we've made our joint will, it's common knowledge he'd go to my dad and jan if anything happened to both of us as Lindsay lives next door to them so they'd all raise him together.

We have life insurance and critical illness/unemployment insurance. I made a will before I met Tom after my divorce so my ex couldn't try to claim anything. My will currently stands that my dad and sister get 50% each of the house and my life insurance. If anything happens to me while I work for...

I tend to fill the bath up to the bottom of his chest. He loves to stay in too so we put plenty in to keep him warm. Lindsay was going to buy one of those seats for when Isla needs it but they're £35 so told her she can borrow this one as Cole will be just sitting on a bath mat before long, I...

I've only ever had half leg too, I hardly have any hair at the tops and what I do have is fine. I get a horrible rash and ingrown hairs if I have under my arms waxed. My sister used to end up in a mess wherever she was waxed. She epilates now which prevents it. X

    Due Dates!!!

I think that's what scared me a bit as well, when they said he had a big head I was like 'Right that's gonna hurt!' Haha. Honestly forceps was nothing bad. It was a bit weird being in the operating theatre bit and there was about 18 people, all with different jobs, but they had music on and were...

    Due Dates!!!

I struggled with my early morning bloods. For some reason they were always high which is why they put me on the slow release insulin. I had appointments at 32, 34, 36 and 38 with the consultant and growth scans at 34 and 38 I think. I think induction time varies between hospitals. Some will...

He's 9 months now. I'm pretty sure he stopped around 3-4 months but I can't be 100%. As soon as he started playing more we found he was easier to entertain. He's just being moody at the minute as he's trying his best to walk but getting frustrated so moans at me a LOT! Lol xx

Cole used to do it. I called it his witching hours as he'd do it from 4.30ish until he went to bed at 6.30pm. He just seemed to stop all of a sudden but I can't remember when x

    Due Dates!!!

When are you due? I had GD. Was on Metformin and insulin so they induced me. I was due 6th Jan. They took me in Boxing Day at 38+3 and Cole was born on NYE at 39+1. They kept telling me he was big and at 25 weeks I measured 30 but he weighed 7.12. I saw the consultant at 38 weeks exactly and she...

Our routine starts at tea time. Cole has his tea at approx 5pm which usually takes us up to 5.30pm. I try to get him to have a bit of chill out time after tea so we sit and read or play with his jigsaws. At 6.30pm we go upstairs and he plays in his bedroom while I run his bath (bathroom is...

My HV was the same with the sippy cup. Cole's been wanting to hold his cup and bottle for ages. At his check she didn't believe that he could do it himself so she gave him an empty sippy cup to try it with and he put it straight to his mouth and tipped it up. Because it was empty I gave him his...

My nephew used to have crazy naps, I've never known anyone sleep like him. He's have his usual morning nap then go after dinne, about 1pm. Lindsay would get home from work at 3.30pm ish and he'd still be in bed so she would go home and get things done in the house until he woke up, which was...

Cole wears long sleeved pj's and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag. He also has a cellular blanket but that's just for him to cuddle, he pulls it up to his face and holds it. We have the heating on, Tom's forever turning it up, so Cole's room is 19-20 degrees.

That's definitely good motivation. Got a quick question Katie, if you don't mind. A friend is doing BLW with her 6 month old who suffered reflux quite badly and is lactose intolerant. The reflux seems to be affecting the baby again and she was wondering if there are certain types of food to...

38 is my limit, I don't want to be having babies when I'm nearly 40. But if I get to 38 and we're still ttc no 2 I'll reconsider. Hoping it won't take so long next time. I've got a lot of work to do with my body before early March now ;)
