How Slimming World Works - Advice for Newbies (Updated for 2015)

What I like about SW is that if you stick to the plan 100% you will lose weight but even if you stick to it 90% you will still lose weight and if you have a really bad week you just forget about it and carry on :)

    All In The Mind

Amazing how the mind works, I started at 16 st 10 lbs, now down to 15 stone 2 lbs but I'm thinking about it as "I was heading for 17 stone, now I'm heading for 14 stone" so it feels like I've lost 3 stone instead of 1.5 stone :D

Only 1 lb this week, still 2lbs to get my first stone. FatOllies's BMI Journey

Oops, I made a mistake last week, it should only have been 1.5 lbs and only 0.5 lbs this week. Due to various I went badly off the rails for 6 days at the end of last week/start of this week so I'm not surprised that I only lost 2lbs over the two weeks. One of the things I learned, however...

That's smashing, Katz, I'm delighted for you. What I was essentially saying is just weigh yourself on the same scales at the same time of day and you'll be grand - the weight loss on the doc's scales should be the same as the loss on your own scales.

    Airports - Recommendations

Apparently you can't. I don't have enough posts to give a link but if you can find my thread title "When Is A Syn Not a Syn?" about a meal I had in Stansted Airport last Saturday, you'll see some discussion about it there - apparently some places cook their jacket potatoes in oil

Be careful about that, Kaz, very few scales are calibrated exactly and can easily have differences of several pounds; even applies in hospitals where you would think they would take this seriously - I once had the experience of being weighed in A&E and then being weighed a few hours later on the...

    Airports - Recommendations

Just wondering if people have any recommendations about eating at airports. The ones I use most are Dublin, Stansted and Bristol and I would welcome any recommendations on SW friendly meals available at them. Other airports recommendations might be useful to other people.

    Common SW misconceptions put right.

At the end of the day, whatever diet you use, weight loss/gain comes back to the difference between calories in and calories out. Superfree are obviously lower in calories so better for weight loss. SW has it's own approach, "unlimited quantities" isn't strictly true, it's marketing hype, it...

Is it normal for the losses to slow down?

I've just joined SW and I want to take off 4 stone before Christmas - 26 weeks - so I've set myself following targets: First 4 weeks - average 3 lbs per week 2nd 4 weeks - average 2.5 lbs per week Average 2 lbs per week after that. Does this sound reasonable?
