Crafty Crafters!

Lost in the Supermarket
I've noticed that there are a lot of crafters about the forum and, seen as I enjoy the occasional bit of crafting thought it might be nice to share our crafting ideas and useful hints and tips.

I make a lot of fabric and ribbon flowers for headbands, embellishing handbags and shoes, decorative...that kind of thing. AND I stick crystals onto everything. I currently have about 2 million crystals in my back bedroom with no hope of being organised

I got up this morning to find that OH had nailed a towel rack to the wall in my home office/crystal emporium and slotted my extensive collection of ribbon onto it. Prior to that they were just strewn about, unravelled and tangled up! He's a star.

I absolutely love the shoes. They look so pretty!

I love crafting/sewing but haven't made anything for a long long time. Really need to get back in to it! The only pic I have is an iPod case I made for my OH. Hand made felt and hand embroidered :) I think it's quite cute.

I have no pictures but I love making stuff! Including
Jewellery (I have been known to make a pair of earrings to go with an outfit five mins before work when I was at the PO).
Card making and I help run a papercrafting group once a month at my church.
Scrapbooking (I'm not overly fussed on this though.)
Knitting I made myself a cardigan whilst recuperating after my hysterectomy.
Crochet I currently have this blanket on the go.
I can also do fine stuff and have made pretty tops for friends.
I also make organza flowers for brooches etc These aren't mine but like this

As I've said before, knitting and crochet is the craft of witches! I refuse to believe you can make a jumper with 2 sticks and a ball of wool. I have 1 brother and 24 cousins on my dad's side- 6 girls and 20 boys altogether. Would you believe all 20 boys can knit and none of the girls can?? My fingers just don't *do* that :(

The iPod case is cute Felix, get selling them on Etsy!

Love the flowers Shirl, are they the ones that you burn? i tried that once, it didn't work out

I am not really a crafter at all - don't really have an artistic bone in my body unfortunately - but Jez OMG they are amazing, wish I could do stuff like that. That flower is gorgeous!

I have always enjoyed making scrapbooks, even if I'm not great at it. I made one for my and OH's first Xmas together, with lots of pictures of us together, cinema tickets, receipts from dates etc and lots of funny quotes and one-liners that my OH always comes out with - it included little recorder things where you press the button and you can record a message so you could hear him say a couple of things I caught on my phone on voice mail and stuff. I was quite proud of that!

I love seeing other people's stuff!!

I knit, I crochet, I sew... right now though I hold my left hand and shout at it to make it heal quicker.
most recently though I used my embroidery machine to make my mum a personal birthday pressie. it's big enough for her GCSE Art a4 folder and a pencil case....

I made sophie some cute thankyou cards for her birthday party using some photoshop skills, lollies and a bit of brain power

I've tried to sell my stuff before and it just doesn't work lol.

Aww Flib that card is so lovely - love the idea, and your daughter is adorable!

Also, little piggy booties - SO CUTE!

Flibsey you are very talented! The card is awesome, such a great idea. I also love love love the lamp!!!

Lovely projects :)

I used to knit but don't anymore, but love card making and scrapbooking, but think I enjoy buying craft goodies more than I enjoy using them. My craft room is bursting.

I used to make cards but not done any for ages, i also knit and make toys, and cross stitch (not done that for ages either). I need to start being crafty again, I do miss it.

Talented bunch we have here! Pretty sure I don't have an artistic bone in my body lol, making things does look fun though! x

Flibs you are super talented, I wouldn't even think to do half of that stuff! If you made babies hats with Yoda ears i'd buy one :)

Pie your scrapbooking effort sounds aamazing and so sweet! I did a scrapbook for my cousin with all of her wedding photos in and it looked like a child had made it, haha.

Where does everyone get their craft stuff from? I'm another always buying stuff, we've just been to Ikea to buy storage for it all!! I hate Hobbycraft, it's soooo expensive.

Jez, my daughter would kill for your sparkly shoes lol.

I get most of my yarns in the hobbycraft sales, they reduce really expensive yarns down to pence.
I also get yarn on ebay. most yarn sellers know about dye lots etc so it's handy.
fabrics I get mostl in second hand shops. you'd be surprised at how fat a double duvet cover can go lol. specialist fabrics like the Alexander Henry Calaveras stuff on the lamps is from ebay. I also get some from Fabric8 in colchester.
for sophie dresses I used to use old shirts, for warm linings I use cheap fleece blankets.

I like to recycle as much as I can.

I make cards for family and friends and i love glass painting, most people i know get handmade cards and usually a stained glass something like a vase, photo frame or bauble for birthdays and christmas etc! keeps me occupied and after the initial outlay of main materials its a good money saver too, I get my materials from dunelm mill, wilkinsons or in hobby craft sale bins and the glass items are usually supermarkets own brands or value shops etc as my decorating them usually makes them look less cheap! cannot share as no idea how to upload pictures!!

Some shoes i've done for Mummy Von Sav for mothers day :)

Effed the Mrs B a bit but no one will see that!

They are amazing. God, I am so struggling to think of what to get my mum! It'll be a last minute job on Saturday methinks!

I love making things but they usually look like a child has made them! I crochet, well only granny squares and shell borders, but make lovely "rustic" baby blankets for gifts, that my friends and their bubbas seem to enjoy! I love cross stitching when I have time and make Christmas baubles for gifts using polystyrene balls, tiny squares of fabrics and hundreds of pins! When I was pregnant I made a noahs arc cross stitch, a patchwork blanket, nappy stacker, bunting and curtains, all very obviously handmade but I was please with them! Need to invest in a decent sewing machine I have a singer from the 50s/60s, it looks beautiful but have been known to be found crying for a while afternoon because the bobbin wouldn't reload (I was 8 months gone at the time if that counts as an excuse!)
Really need to get back into this for when the boy goes away to "save the world"! X

I knit for a charity and make stuff for micro preemies . This little dress is 6 inches long. I love needle craft too but I cant sew clothes and I can't master crochet either!!

some great talents on this thread xx
