Help! Keto stix, do they just detect ketones or dehydration also?

Reason I ask this question, I did'nt have my SS head on yesterday and ate a good amount of an easter egg:break_diet::whoopass:. I did a test this morning, an hey ho, out I go:mad:. I hav'nt eaten anything today and I hav'nt drunk that much either to be honest, but i did a test just now and Im back in the pink(mid range).

Is the keto stix telling me I'm just dehydrated or is it telling me Im back in golden land of ketosis?

Im an incy bit confused:sigh2:

If you are dehydrated I don't think it will show up as ketones ....Ketones will show up *I think* only if your body has resorted to burning fat in the absence of carbohydrates.. ketones are the bi product of this process. (can also find ketones in ketoacidosis, but that is something different altogether and not to be confused with a ketogenic diet...)

Just to add that dehydration although will not cause ketons to show in your urine, will exagerate any already present. As ther is less urine to dilute it.
This was dug deep from my ex nursing days and my nutrition diploma so i am embarrassed if wrong and feel free someone to correct me:)

Try to put less focus on what the stix say and more on doing the diet as set out. Yeah, you had a blip. Sometimes these things happen. But today you need to do the diet. You need the shakes..you need the water...you do not need the stix.

The great thing about the golden land of ketosis, is that it reduces your hunger. Why do you need a stick to tell you whether you are hungry or not? :confused:

Have your shakes...you really need them. Don't try and make up for yesterday by not doing it properly today. Just wont help in the grand scheme of things.
