The Original Honey!!!
Does anyone know the syn value for mirin? I've tried looking on the s/w website but seem to be drawing a blank.

Thank

Thanks paperclip. It's kind of confusing as it is a type of wine (cooking as opposed to drinking) but also a vinegar and you only use a tablesppon or too as opposed to lots of mls. I've tried looking it up by brand and had no luck and wondered if anyone had discussed it with their c?

Thanks again though as at worst with those figures its 2 syns for the whole meal!

I looked up the nutritional values from a bottle of mirin online and from that one type (I presume they are similar whatever brand) and it's 1½ syns per tbsp

Thanks Mummy Helen (that feels very strange calling you that if you know what I mean...lol). From your figures it would suggest 3 syns for my whole meal so still not too bad.

Thanks again

I know what it is - I think they just list it in big quantities.

Easy to do some maths though!

I know it's a vinegar type substance, but it contains alcohol (unlike normal vinegars) = more calories!
