I have an underactive thyroid since I was 6 years old. I was diagnosed when I went into hospital with a lung infection, and since then have been on medication.
Only thing is, having an underactive thyroid means:
-feeling tired and sleeping a lot
-feeling the cold easily
-dry and/or pale skin
-coarse, thinning hair and brittle nails
-sore muscles, slow movements and weakness
-a hoarse or croaky voice
-a change in facial expression
-depression
-problems with memory and concentration
-weight gain
-constipation
-fertility problems and increased risk of miscarriage
-heavy, irregular or prolonged menstrual periods
-a slow heart rate
Everything in bold, are my symptoms. Since I was a child I've been "plump", tried most diets, but like it states there, never have enough concentration to keep going, never mind having the ENERGY either! Just wanted to know if anyone else is finding it hard with illnesses they have?
