Hi, I have only just found this forum and found it by accident while looking for something else entirely :)

I have had a life long battle with weight and am currently at my heaviest ever and i'm really struggling with it, getting out of breath a lot and dodgy knees

I have tried all manner of things, WW, Slimming World, Lighterlife, Atkins, counselling......I even have a gastric band.......and the only one that worked properly was Slimming World, but I always end up putting the weight back on, but I'm not getting any younger and with my daughter graduating from uni in 2 years I want to look normal for her graduation, so I'm thinking about taking it slow and steady so hopefully it lasts, that it just becomes my way of life, cos it needs to be......I can't afford to fall back into my bad habits........

So thats a little about me and where I'm at, now I'm off to check out the rest of the site......oh I also suffer with anxiety and depression so joining a slimming group is a huge no-no for me right now, thanks for reading

Welcome , nice to meet you. i too have problems going to the groups as i feel uncomfortable around people ( could say i am a loner ) you say you would like to look normal, normal is a state of mind hun, normal to one is outrageous to another, plus it is good to be a little special. however i do wish you all the luck in losing those lbs.

yep slimming world is best for me cos i can feel like i'm eatiing a normal diet and am not excluded anywhere, so i'm going to try SW with hypnosis, in the hope the hypnosis helps with the willpower side...... anythings worth a try;)

I know normal is a state of mind, but i mean normal in the sense of being able to go in a regular clothes shop, or sit in any size chair without fear of getting stuck or even worse the chair giving way, that i can walk down the street without people staring or children asking why i'm huge in that lovely innocent way children do, none of that is state of mind really, thats the reality of being the size i am.......maybe i should've said i want to feel regular, i want to do regular things like everyone else, thanks for the best wishes and good luck to you too :)

Hi Big Girl - Not started off very well there, have we?!! Straight in with a putdown of yourself! Not a good idea in my book...:D

Know where you are coming from with the "no slimming group for me" bit. Sometimes things get so you feel that everything is so mounted against you and no matter what, it never has a positive outcome.
Take it from me at the age of 76 I've been there, done that and got the T shirt!! I got up to 16st 2lb and like you, short of breath, agony with my back, couldn't sleep properly - and so on, and so on, ad neaseum!!

Soo, when you decide to get to grips with it properly, do set up your own diary and that way all these lovely people on here can know where to find you and give you the support and advice and encouragement that you so desperately need.

Go to it and get to grips with life and love every darn minute, we are in it for real whether we like it or not!!....:)

    Take care.

Thanks Emmaline, not sure where I started with a big old put down of myself......i didn't think i'd put myself down, i am just realistic about my size and how that effects my life :) and i like to be very honest about myself and what i feel, and i have sat on a fold up chair that broke, which was very embarrassing and humiliating, so i am very realistic about whether a chair can take my weight or not cos i don't want to go through that again :)

i have spent years being in denial about my weight and all i have done is get bigger and bigger, finally accepting where i am is quite possibly the most important step on my journey, because i can now see how dangerously overweight i am and that i have to make lifestyle changes to beat this, and i can't make any changes if i am unaware of where i'm starting.........hope i've explained that well

Slimming world is best especially with the new plan called extra easy. It's hard being at groups but one thing to remember going to first meeting is the hardest but onething everyone has in common is that they are all there for the same reason Hun. Hynosis helps lots and worth trying
