Stabilization Stab... and beyond...

I know that two of our ladies on Stab speak French... and because I found this article the other day and haven't yet been bothered to translate it, here it is in its glory...

Article sent by Dr Dukan to people registered on his French site:

so rough translation...

Basically, he had an independent survey conducted by an independent organisation on people in stabilisation on his official French website.

The survey was conducted on 1,525 people and showed that 79% of those who had reached their Dukan True Weight consolidated and stabilised it for an average time of 6.9 months. These results contrasted to those of previous studies – the most recently, involving 15 diets and showing in general an 80% failure rate, while we obtained almost an 80% success rate.

98% of people who stabilised declared themselves satisfied with the method, and 70% of those very satisfied.

80% found the stabilisation phase easy.

In total, more than 92% have already recommended the diet and will recommend it in the future.

52% of those surveyed spoke to a doctor either before, during or after the diet. Among those who received medical advice before, during or after the diet (18% of those who responded), the advice was favourable and is in significant progression, passing from 77% of favorable advice before to 84% during or after the diet.

25% of those surveyed had a full blood count tests done before or after the diet.
For more than 9 people out of 10 (92%) the results of the blood counts improved or remained unchanged.

Hopefully we will all be positive statistics too!

Mind you, I'm still not sure I'll mention it to the GP (who is also sports and nutrition specialist)...

My GP knows... raised an eyebrow initially... yet when, frustrated with a lengthy stall (at about this weight funnily enough), I asked him for help, he gave me a photocopy of the fake Mayo diet with two meals whited out (ie, two meals per week you simply ate ... nothing!)... so, at that point, I considered my diet/nutritional knowledge exceeded his!

We also crossed swords when he noted an increase in my cholesterol level since doing Dukan. I dared to defend that it's my HDL (good cholesterol level) which has risen far more than the LDL (bad), obviously making for a not good total. His response: "oh on va sur internet je vois ;)"

I thought those statistics very encouraging... they do specify "true weight" though, rather than whatever weight we fancy (as I went for initally)...

My true weight is (apparently) 63.3, so any fluctuation a few hundred gr either side of that will do me fine - we'll see...

The weight I stabilised at (that I knew about) was 63, so not too different. Hopefully will be maintainable.

Thanks Jo,

very interesting and reassuring too, even though he of course blowing his own horn. Because comparing it to 'all diets' is a bit vague of course.

And one more thing - we should also take not that he surveyed (of course) only the people subscribed to his coaching service (yes?) who have made it to stab and kept themselves subscribed (does that cost money?) so that would seriously afffect the sample, though maybe that means only those that need support and are more likely to slip up are counted and the perfect stabilisers are not counted at all...

Sorry I have a serious distrust of statistics, but on the whole yes the message is good and there is hope for us!!

Anja... to stay on the official site once at Stabilisation, you have to pay €1 a week... (he omits to mention that gem until you get there!)

I hear you though!
