Today - there was a report into the links between people having gastric bands and their decreasing chance of diabetes/reduction of insulin dependance - BBC News - Type 2 diabetes 'cut' after weight-loss surgery
My local radio station then contacted my local team developer (who is a consultant as well of course) - about an interview to put forward that there is no need for gastric band to loose weight. She nominated myself and another local guy to talk to them this morning (We have both lost over 15.5st each and he was 6th place at the National Greatest Loser awards last week, whilst I came in 5th).
The interview can be found on iplayer:
BBC iPlayer - Annie Othen: 13/04/2011 (forward to about 1hr7min for the start of our segment)
I'd love to meet this leading bariatic specialist though who believes bariatic surgery is the ONLY proven way to combat morbid obesity.
