Some of you may have seen Dame Shirley Bassey singing her new single 'The Living Tree' on Edna Everage's programme tonight.

This song was written by two female British song-writers/musicians, Nikki Lambourn and Catherine 'The Been' Feeney, who are in a band called Never The Bride. I was fortunate enough to have been present at a gig they played on my 50th birthday (and even still have a promotional thong they threw into the crowd in my underwear drawer - still unworn, though, I have to admit *lol*). Nikki's voice has to be heard to be believed - and the rest of the band aren't half band either!

Dame Shirley's single is being released next Monday, 23rd April (and there's a great story behind how she got to hear it in the first place). If you'd like to view the official video it's at:

I also highly recommend taking a look at Never the Bride's original version at:

YouTube - Never The Bride - The Living Tree

which I still think is the definitive version and just blows me away every time I see/hear it.

If anyone's interested I have the links to the downloads/pre-order websites.

Let's hear it for British music and British-born talent
