I think it is so lovely to see so many people smiling and happy about the birth of the new babe and that William was there at the birth. It is a real feel good feeling.

I think they have to inform her of what they have chosen before it is announced, I would also think it ould be highly unlikely that she would veto any name that the mum and dad have chosen unless of course it is Emsie's choice of Rumplestiltskin lol !!!!!

That was why I thought of Frances as it is on both sides of the family and was one of Diane's names.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, it's a shame that they won't really be allowed to chose the name they'd really like, I do like your thinking on Spencer though.
I like Arthur, we've not had a King Arthur for a while, well that's if he gets to be king, he may not be, if the Queen Mother being the age she was when she passed over & the Queen is in her 80's and Charles hasn't even got there yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a really nice , harmless thread and I am enjoying it. It is lovely to see your ideas of names etc.
You know these two young royals are very modern in their outlook and I think they might give us all a surprise when it comes to the name. They are also very respectful of tradition and culture, so we could see a combination of tradition and modern.
I loved Anne 's choice of Zara for her daughter. A daughter who has certainly lived up to her name as she is a radiant young woman.

I see what you mean, but I don't think it would be right. Although other royal families in other countries do have a history of abdication for reasons such as age, in the UK we always have the shadow of 1936 hanging over the word.
Abdication meant that George VI had to take the throne, even though he didn't want to, and he and his family had to abandon the life they had planned.
The same happened when the Queen came to the throne (although for different reasons) - she and Philip had to give up a great deal, and Philip had to abandon his career.
I don't think it would be right to burden this new family with all that now.
