Starting next monday, what to do in meantime?
I'm joining SW next Monday and I'm excited and nervous! I've done WW before- how is SW compared to it? Is it hard to lose the WW mentality?
I've had a bit of a poke around and I think the hardest thing to get my head around is that I can eat certain foods as much as I want? That sounds too good to be true! Is it really unlimited? Or is it implied that you need to use common sense and stop when you feel full (that's hard for me!).
I'm a bit daunted by the meetings too as I have bad anxiety especially in social situations. Hopefully they will all be welcoming!
Is there anything I can be doing before next Monday or shall I enjoy my last few days of 'freedom'?!
It's the common sense approach. Eat until you feel full. What makes you full may be different to me and so on. I did ww before too and it can be hard to shake to points mentality but once you get past it there is no stopping you. I wholly recommend this over ww because ww does nothing for the snacking/picking aspect of weight gain and is far too oriented around ready meals and convenience. SW is about fresh food and making meals from scratch, having full control over what goes in your mouth essentially. Keep doing whatever you are doing until Monday and get the full low down and the books etc to be totally sure. If you are already eating relatively healthily then you may not experience the big week one loss so be prepared for that. I can't comment on the meetings as I do it from home but no doubt they will be lovely. Good luck x
Thanks I think SW sounds better for me than WW so I'm excited. I like the fact I can eat until I'm full rather than thinking "I've just eaten all my points and I'm still hungry whoops" though I will have to be careful to stop when I am full.
I am eating relatively healthily already and maintaining my current weight. I probably wouldnt have a big drop in the first week any way as I seem to lose weight quite slowly!

SW is different to every diet I've ever been on, including WW. Being able to fill up on all those lovely free foods, including potato, rice and pasta is such a boon if you have a large appetite like I do. Of course you have to be sensible and know when you truly are full, and not just eating for the sake of it.
My first week I truly didn't feel like I'd lost. I'd eaten so well all week and was dreading stepping on the scales. Many of the regular members commented that I may be pleasantly surprised- and I was, 6.5 pounds! My group is great too. Like yourself, I went on my own and was nervous walking in, but they were all so friendly and welcoming, I don't know now what I worried about.
SW is the best thing that's happened to me health wise- you go and enjoy, and let us know how you're getting along.
Thank you for replying, I feel much less nervous about joining now
I wish I could have started this week but oh well, roll on Monday! I got my voucher in Bella magazine too.

I'd suggest picking up the magazine if you haven't already, I find them really helpful and have been reading it long before I actually joined SW. The latest issue just came out last week.
I've never done WW but do you have any of their packet stuff left? It shouldn't be too bad to use on SW since it's usually low in calories, but may be worth using up what you can this week to get ready for all the lovely fresh foods you'll get to enjoy next week. Coming from a low carb diet background, I'm still amazed I'm allowed to eat potatoes! I had four big jacket potatoes last week and still lost 2.5lbs.

Hi and good luck ...sw really does work and I'm back today for my second time to try and lose more. It took me a while to get my head round how it works but in the end I just focus on the fact it does !
I look forward ward to seeing how you get on x
I'll look out for the magazine! Don't really have any WW things left except for a jar of pasta sauce.
Quick question- with the paying weekly group option if you miss a group do you still have to pay? I'm not sure if I could get there every single week. With WW you had to pay if you missed a group which I thought was unfair.
You do still have to pay if you miss group, but you can book holiday weeks if you know that you are not going to be able to make it (I think you get 6 weeks?). Also, if you can't make your group but can attend another one in the same week, then that still counts.
Hm okay, I'll have to try extra hard not to miss any then!
I always enjoy my last few days of freedom lol!!
Yup today I've had a cheese and pickle sandwich and some oreos! Got tuna pasta later yum.
Enjoy your last few days of freedom definitely, but in the mean time I'd swat up on which plan will work best for you, have a look for some recipes on here & in the mags and make sure your fridge/cupboards are good to go from Monday! Good luck! Sounds cliché but after trying many a diet, SW is the only one that's worked for me.....twice!
Also if u are a shift worker and tell them wen u join u don't.have to pay as long as u tell them in advance x

Mind you, that was years ago on the old points system, before they buggered about with it and introduced propoints, which I don't get on with at all. And I believe that WW is becoming more and more like SW by the year so the transition may be a lot easier now.
