tweekedgirl's Weight Loss Diary

Well, after hanging about this forum for the past couple of weeks, I've decided to join and start my own diary, as it'll be nice to be able to post about my weight loss to people who are encouraging and going through the same process as myself.

Over the past three years or so, my weight has shot up and I've been back and forth from around 12st to 12st 5lb and after many failed attempts at diets, this time I've started and am determined to get back to a healthy and happy weight. I don't feel I've looked attractive since my college days, and the lightest I can remember being is around 10st. I've even kept hold of some clothes from back then, for ever hoping I'll fit in them again one day, and this time I intend to.

I started my weight loss journey at the beginning of June, and rather than focus on dieting (as I've tried and failed many times before), this time I've swapped out fatty foods for tasty salads and soups. I've also not banned any type of food from my diet, as I think that this is what caused my previous weight loss attempts to fail. If I fancy a small bar of chocolate or crisps, then I'll let myself have one. As long as everything is in moderation, and my diet is healthy, then this is the way to go for me. Since June, I've dropped from 12st 5lb and I'm now currently 11st 6lb. My first goal is to get to 11st for when I go back to uni, so I have 3 weeks from Monday to loose 6lbs, which is more than reachable.

Today I'm starting the nine week program on EA Sports Active, and I'm looking into getting a pedometer to motivate me into wanting to get out and walk a bit more. I'm also wanting to swap some of my coffee for herbal tea. I've tried the Tetley Camomile tea, but honestly this was disgusting! So if people can recommend some flavours that are a little more pleasant, then this would be appreciated :)

I look forward to sharing my journey with you lovely people on here, and keep up the great work - it's so inspiring to read about everyone and their achievements on here.

Weighed in this morning, and have lost 1lb since Wednesday :) bringing me to 11st5lb

More than happy with that, considering this time last week I was in holiday in Rome pigging out on pasta and pizza. I'm actually shocked I've still managed to loose weight, but to be fair, I was walking a good couple of miles per day in the sweltering heat haha.

Got myself some Twinings Herbal Tea, and trying to substitute coffee for it, though it's not a scratch on coffee and I miss the aroma :( The things we do... Also signed up to My Fitness Pal, and I love it ^^ Really easy to use and I love that it gives you an amount of calories recommended to eat. I tend to find myself a little under so it's always nice knowing I can have a little treat but still be on target.

Off to swimming later, and then two days in work doing lots of running around. Very hopeful for a 2lb weight loss for next Saturday so fingers crossed.

Morning everyone, had an average couple of days food wise, and not had the chance to eat as healthy as I'd have like to have done, due to fitting meals around long work shifts. Sunday the OH took us out to Nandos, and even by our standards we splashed out a little lol with butterfly chicken breasts, wings, halloumi cheese, pitta, chips and garlic bread. And if that wasn't bad enough, we then went and had far too much ice cream :p Went over MFP calories by about 800, finishing on 2200 for the day. Yesterday was better, but after a 10 hour shift it can be hard to find the motivation to cook a healthy meal so ended up popping in a pizza. Was still under my daily calories, but still would have rather that came from a healthier source.

Weighed myself this morning and thankfully my weight has stayed the same, so no harm done and back it properly today - off shopping later to get some healthy soups and snacks :) Not as hopeful for that 2lb weight loss for Saturday, but I'll still be happy with 1lb.

Hello :)

That's a fab weight loss since June - congrats. I bet you feel great and really proud!

I'm the same as you; I don't want to be on a diet; I want to make changes that last and help me stay healthy long term.

It sounds like you're really in the right frame of mind too :)

Good luck! You'll do amazing :) xxx

Thank you Amy :) I think that's why I've always given up before, as I'd loose 5lb in a couple of weeks, and then because I wasn't loosing as much after that, I'd give up and stop watching what I was eating. My uni course doesn't help at all though either, as it's computer based so I tend to spend the entire term sat behind a desk working on assignments. I put on over half a stone during my last term, and I'm gob smacked. I go back to start my final year in 2 and a half weeks so I'm really worried that all this hard work over the summer holiday will just be undone :(.

However, these changes to my diet will continue during uni, and I'm planning to walk there and back more often and just try and keep my activity level up. Myfitnesspal will definitely help me to keep on track and not let my weight spiral out of control again haha xD

Today is going well so far anyway, had some Scotts porridge oats for breakfast, and currently tucking into a lovely salad. Been on an hours walk with the doggies, planning to pop to the gym for an hour in a bit, and still have to do my EA active workout, so plenty of exercise for today. Still hoping for a 1lb loss on my Saturday weigh in.

If anyone wants to add me on Myfitnesspal for a little extra motivation, my username is tweekedgirl on there as well.

Uni can be an absolute killer when it comes to your weight. I'm a student nurse and I had so many personal problems in my first year that combining it with university meant I absolutely piled on the pounds... I think my heaviest was well over 18st. You've just gotta get into the mindset that food isn't for pleasure, it's for fuel. And you only need the minimum to keep you going...

That's what I'm doing atm.

You're doing well btw! :)

Thank you! And I know, it's actually awful lol. My trouble was that whenever I went into the library to work on any of my stuff, I ALWAYS had to buy a mocha with an extra sugar before I could concentrate properly. Can't promise I'll not be getting any when I go back, but I think I need to limit myself to far less than 5 per week and cut out the sugar! That'll probably help. (Mochas are my downfall!)

Hello :)

I know what you mean re uni; my weight really went up a lot during my time there and I haven't really managed to get rid of it since. But you seem be in a really positive state of mind so you just need to keep hold of that into the new term.

The most important thing is to keep talking about; keep it part if your life. Minimins can really help with that xxx

Thank you Aims, fingers crossed that I'll stay strong through uni and avoid those blasted mochas :)

Had a very good day yesterday, burning about 700 calories throughout the day from my walk and then a 90 minute gym session. I didn't manage to get on EA Active since I was knackered, but definitely going to pop on it later and also tomorrow. My 'official' weigh in day where I record my weight is tomorrow, but I had a sneaky weigh in this morning and I'm down to 71.8kg (11st 4lb) :D. If I manage another epic food and exercise day then maybe, just maybe I'll manage to knock that down to 11st 3lb! Very optimistic but hey, it's potentially possible!

Had porridge again for breakfast with a coffee, going to have some sort of soup for dinner and then going to be making another lovely low calorie faux pizza for tea yum yum. If you've not already seen it, the recipe is here http://www.minimins.com/calorie-counting-recipes/219511-yummy-300-calorie-pizza.html. I modified it a little as I couldn't find some of the ingredients, so I used a Warburtons Sandwich Pitta for the base, swirled a little bit of HP BBQ sauce on it, topped it with some boiled down chopped tomatoes and low fat fresh mozzarella. For the actual topping I used sweetcorn and pan-fried skinless chicken breast. It was a very sexy 500 calories BBQ chicken pizza. If you've got some extra calories to spare you can also pop some chips with it. Going to make this again for tea tonight, so will take a picture of it to get your mouths watering if I remember :)

Hiya Karen, we even joined on the same date! Do you have a diary, I'd love to follow it, as you say it's always nice to see people of a similar weight are doing on their journey.

Yesterday was another good day, though in my head I felt like I'd eaten way too much. This morning was the official weigh-in, and it was as I'd weighed yesterday, so can happily say that I'm now officially 11st4lbs - which also means...drum roll please... that's a total of ONE STONE lost since I started on my diet :D Very very happy. There's no way I'm ever going to let myself creep back up to 12st. Once I reach my target weight I plan on keeping up weighing to either once or twice a month, and I'll probably keep using Myfitnesspal, make sure I stick to this lifestyle change.

So I've now got two weeks to reach 11st, so really need to push it this week for a nice 2lb weight loss. Got some tips from a trainer at the gym about interval training, so going to implement that when I go, and hopefully that should boost the weight loss. I've also got a night out in Manchester planned for Friday 14th, so if I can reach my goal, going to treat myself to a nice glitzy dress :D

Hello! We have similar stats and goals, so, I'll subscribe!!!!! Well done so far! I'm at uni too, going into my third year in October. :)

Hey Laura, good luck with your goal and also with your 3rd year :D

Thanks Karen, and yes, fingers crossed we see the 9s soon. Only a couple of weeks from the 10s! So excited!

Today's been an okayish day. Weighed myself this morning (I know it's a bad habit to weigh everyday, but hey) and I've lost another half a pound, taking me in to 11st 3lb, so that's good and is a very good sign that I should hopefully hit a 2lb loss when I have my next proper weigh-in on Saturday.

Breakfast was porridge with a herbal tea, 25 minute walk to work, salad with a very fatty dressing (forgot my own light one so had to use one in the fridge :() another herbal tea, 25 minute walk home, and then a large unnecessarily large portion of home made chilli for tea with an Options hot chocolate sachet. With the walking, Myfitnesspal still says I'm a little under my daily intake, and I still have my EA Fitness workout to do so can burn off some more of the fat from the chilli :p So not too bad overall but I need to find a way to make that chilli more healthy. Will try and switch the mince for turkey mince without the OH noticing!

Better than my day. All was going well until I was watching TV at night and decided cheese crackers would be a good idea! WHY OH WHY OH WHY???????????

Lol Laura cheese crackers aren't that bad, unless you're talking about the whole packet xD

Yesterday was what I'd like to call a 'half and half' day. Started off fantastically well. Had cereal for breakfast, and a low fat Subway salad for lunch. Also walked into town and then around town, my pedometer reckons altogether it was around 2 hours of walking and burned off about 500/600 calories. But then we ordered a Chinese xD Scallop barm, salt and pepper chips and salt and pepper chicken. Topped off with a can of Monster. To be fair, added all this up in Myfitnesspal and for the whole day I was over my recommended calories by 424, making it better than the Nandos night! It also still said that if I ate like that everyday I'd still lose weight (though not much).

What I did notice last night that made me think, was that although I'd been craving Chinese, once I'd eaten it, I didn't necessarily feel guilty, but it was nowhere near as enjoyable or tasty as I'd expected. I think if I'd have cooked something for myself, I would have been a lot more satisfied, and less out of pocket. Definitely something to consider next time I fancy a take away, and if I do feel I have to get something, I'll just order a scallop barm as opposed to pigging out and spending a tenner on something which actually wasn't that good anyway.

Enough about that! That was last night, and the next four days I intend to be spot on in order to keep up my weight loss. For dinner I'm making a lovely low fat tuna potato thing, currently in the oven right now, and going to have some soup in a bit before I head off to work. I also tried some green tea yesterday, and it made me gag haha. Will stick to my fruity ones I think :p.

I totally know what you mean here, this is how I feel every time I eat something bad! Congrats on your weight loss so far, sounds like you've been doing fab :) It is really tough at uni, it's uni weight that i'm trying to still lose now and i've been graduated a year! x

Hey everyone, hope you're all well :)

Yesterday went okay, with a little bit of walking and half decent food. Though I did have a tin of vile macaroni cheese for dinner as I was in a rush and there was nothing else in xD

Today's going well so far. Breakfast was porridge oats with a little bit of golden syrup, and I've just had a tuna pasta salad and a fat free yoghurt for lunch coming in at 321 calories in total. Been to the gym for 40 minutes, and power walked home from work, and maybe might do my EA active workout later if my legs are up for it lol. Going to make a low fat madras style chicken curry later for tea with a bit of rice and tender stem broccoli. Looking forward to it :)

Dinner sounds nice!

Thank you Karen, it ended up being more of a Chinese style curry in the end but was still really nice! Last night I made a turkey curry with chickpeas and tender stem broccoli, but overdid the chillis a little bit! My stomach feels like it's digesting itself haha.

So, this morning was weigh day, and I've weighed in at 70.9kg / 11st 2lbs :D. I'm actually ecstatic at this! I've been weighing myself throughout the week, and after the disappointing takeaway, my weight's been stuck at 11st 4lb, and even yesterday morning it was still 11st 4lb, so I wasn't expecting this at all. The past four days I've really stuck at it, with at least 30 minutes of exercise per day, and ensuring that I was at my calorie allowance, and now it's all paid off :) There's been the odd time when I'd looked at the scales, not seen even the slightest loss and thought 'screw it, i'll just have loads of pasta and crisps today since it's not making any difference' but now I'm so glad I kept at it.

For anyone wanting to loose weight, and not sure which diet is right for them, I'd recommend calorie counting 110%. I started by just changing my diet and exercise habits, and was loosing the weight slowly and steadily, but since I started calorie counting 2 weeks ago, it's just seemed to give me that little boost. I also love the fact I can actually eat what I want and as long as I'm still within my daily allowance then all's good. For example yesterday I had some nachos and a latte at the cinema, and half a chocolate bar and an options hot chocolate in the evening, and I still managed a two pound loss :)

I've got my timetable for uni now and my first day back is Tuesday the 18th, giving me 10 days to loose these last two pounds to hit my uni goal. I've also got some nice jeans from back when I was in college that I would absolutely love to wear on my first day back! They're a little tight around the knees and stomach, but fingers crossed that given 10 days I'm looking good in them.
