    Syn Values

Eeek! Thanks for that, don't know why I thought they were free foods. I think I read it on another forum somewhere? I know that syn values do change. When I did SW many years ago I seem to remember corned beef was free food!

    Syn Values

Campbell's Meatballs I've been trying to find the syn values for these on Body Optimise and had no joy. I don't want to buy them and then run them through the syn calculator when I get home either in case they're not as healthy as I thought. I'm sure I've read somewhere that some of these are...

    Tired on green days?

Thanks for that! I think I'll probably go back to mostly reds next week. I'm weighing myself tomorrow so I'll see if going green was worth it.

    Tired on green days?

Small indeed! I'd never been here before I started this contract, there's some nice places to visit nearby (not so much the town centre though). I used to get the bus back to my B&B in the evenings as I'm fairly near the station but I decided to walk it instead. It's a steady climb up but I'm...

    Tired on green days?

That's a good idea. Because I'm preparing meals in a B&B with only a microwave during the week it does make it harder to eat certain things. I have a poached egg with breakfast but it's probably not enough on it's own. I won't go down the egg/cabbage route, I'm suffering enough after having...

    Tired on green days?

Anyone else experienced this? I'm usually a red day person but this week I've decided to go green for the whole week to see what happens. I'm not even having meat in the healthy extras, just cereal or bread. For some reason I seem to be more tired than usual. Work is busy as always and I'm...

Well done you! What a fantastic start. :)

    a depressing hello

I can sympathise as well, I've lost count of the number of times I've missed out on social events purely because I was too ashamed of my weight. It's good you're losing but I think you'll struggle with a plan like that long term and it's probably better to have three meals a day and spread...

Newbie to the forum but an oldie when it comes to diets lol

Best of luck Claire, I'm sure you'll do really well.

    starting again - AGAIN!

Best of luck with Slimming World, it's a good plan if you like eating! I should know, I'm putting it away like it's going to be taken away from me. I did SW before in a class about 2 years ago in the run-up to Xmas. I lost a stone in 6 weeks and then gave up after the inevitable turkey nosh...

Welcome to the forum and good luck!

Struggling for over 10 years now

This is a hard question to give an easy answer to. I use Slimming World and there's lots of food you can eat which you don't have to measure. The points counting is used for the rest and it's easy to monitor it by using the books you get when you join (and their website), just write it down as...

Just joined SW online, and finding it complicated

Just copied this from the Body Optimise FAQ, not sure if this is what you want to do; Q: How do I restart my progress? A: To restart your progress, go to 'edit my details' from the bottom left-hand navigation on your homepage and scroll down to the 'restart your progress link'. Please...

    Eating alone?

I'm a big fan of Quorn mince, you could make a spag bol using it if you're not so keen on chilli. I use passata, finely chopped mushrooms and onions, couple of garlic cloves, bit of black pepper and basil. I don't eat a lot of pasta but when I do, I tend to use wholemeal for that extra bit of fibre.

Newbie about to try Slimming World!

Good luck with SW, I'm sure you'll do really well. I decided not to do the classes, partly because being a bloke I would have felt a bit left out and also because my work commitments often mean I have to travel around so I can't always guarantee to be around to make a class. And this forum is...

What's everyone reading at the moment?

Typical bloke novel for me. 'The Tin Roof Blow Down' by James Lee Burke. It's a crime novel set in New Orleans just after Katrina swept through there. Fantastic stuff.

    Plus size clothes - heeelp

If you're after more casual styles, you could try Cotton Traders. They go up to a 24 in womens size according to their website.

    Anyone into Vamp Novels?

Not seen those but have read a couple of the Anita Blake novels. Thought they were OK but I only got as far as the third one. To be honest I tend to read more crime and thrillers these days but I'll always find time for a good horror story.

Anyone in Telford want to buddy up

Thanks for that, It's about a 20min walk from where I work so not too bad, I'll pop along one evening and have a look around. I do some walking in the evenings now, about 2 miles from work to the B&B but I know I'll need to burn some more calories than that eventually.

Do you treat yourself? (non food)

This will sound corny as anything but I'm so happy just losing weight at the moment that it's rewarding enough. I'll probably have to buy some new clothes when these start getting too baggy but I don't really enjoy that, I'd rather have a trolley dash in HMV :)

Sample menu - Could this work?

I wonder if eating more would help? I had a couple of green days last week and ate loads and still lost. I always try and have both healthy A's and B's to get the calcium and fibre, both of which are suppposed to make the weight go quicker. Don't to be too despondant, the weight will come off...

    Anyone into Vamp Novels?

I'm a big fan of the Necroscope novels, very gory stuff and takes vampirism to a whole new level. There's been about 11 altogether by Brian Lumley, the style is influenced by HP Lovecraft so very dark and horrific. Highly recommended but you should read them in order. regards Wayne

    Quark

I can confirm it's pretty awful on it's own. I tried it in an omelette but it didn't come out very well. I'd like to hear any inspiring recipes for it too.

Anyone in Telford want to buddy up

I'm Telford based (Mon to Fri) but don't know anything about the Cambridge diet. Hope yours continues to go OK! Don't suppose you've found a friendly gym anywhere around here? I'm a bit shy especially if they're full of healthy people in leotards. I always feel a bit out of place being the...

    Why are you overweight?

Probably a combination of eating takeaways too often, having a sedentary job (I.T. analyst/developer), not taking any exercise and binge eating. If I had a bad day at work I'd eat a whole box of cereal or a family size bag of M&Ms. And I've had a lot of bad days over the years!

Hello all.. Need soe help please

Hi Lee, I can recommend Body Optimise which is Slimming World but online based. I use it and it's working well for me so far. But to echo other sentiments here, weight loss does require a degree of self control and there's no quick and easy fix. If there was, no-one would be overweight! I...

Marks & Spencers Extra Lean Sausages and willys!

I quite like the Bowyers Mediterranean Style sausages at half a sin each but if mine looked like one of those, I'd seek immediate medical attention!

    Do I eat too much?

It's not too bad, they have a kitchen with a fridge and microwave which makes life a bit easier. But I do miss my wok!

    Do I eat too much?

I've had the same thing. I stay in a B&B during the week and have been having a bowl of All-Bran followed by bacon, Quorn sausages, poached egg, mushrooms and toast for breakfast and more than one person has said 'I thought you were on a diet?'. Doesn't matter what people say or think, you know...

    Gym?

I'd hold off on the gym especially if you haven't exercised much before. I've started by doing more walking and making sure I'm up from my desk regularly. Little things like parking further away from work or shops and using stairs all help. Once you're at the stage you can do all that and not...

Raincheck!!! Where are we all from?

I'm based in Telford during the week as I'm working on a contract up here. This means managing my diet while staying in a B&B, luckily there's a fridge and microwave available.

    Healthy Extras

I have my 350ml skimmed and then Babybels for the other 'A', either 3 of the Light or 2 Emmental. 'B's are usually 2 x Weetabix and then a small wholemeal roll or Ryvitas. Couldn't live without some cheese each day!

    New bloke says hello!

Thanks for the greets! I've set up my progress ticker. My target is 15st initially although my recommended weight is 12st. To lose so much seemed really daunting so I set a more realistic target. I've been hovering around 18-19st for years and will be happy just to get down to a healthier weight...

    New bloke says hello!

I like both although I tend to eat more rice than pasta on green days. I lose more when I do red, but I try and switch between them as often as possible to keep the food interesting.

    New bloke says hello!

Hi All, My names's Wayne and I've been doing Slimming World for 5 weeks now. Rather than attend the classes, I'm doing the Body Optimise web plan instead. I didn't want to be the only man in a class of 20-odd ladies although I'm sure they would all have been very friendly :-) I've lost 12.5...
