What combination of packs is allowed and why aren't we allowed more than one bar?

Think that might be 299 cals/100g, not per bar ;) Mind you those bars didn't exist when I did it... Sorry, not trying to have a go at you, but don't want people to be scared off bars either :D
  2. G

What combination of packs is allowed and why aren't we allowed more than one bar?

I'm sure when I was on bars they were 200 cals not 125, so 75 cals extra, which would at most be 2lbs in 3 months so the loss over the convienience of the bars wasn't enough to make me decide to lose them ;) But each to their own.

What combination of packs is allowed and why aren't we allowed more than one bar?

It's not only the carbs, it's the soya in them... not great for the digestive system in large quantities! But Andy, no point not having bars because of the cals. An extra 100 or so cals a day aint going to make a damn bit of difference.

    Holidays and LighterLife...

I stayed abstinent on a 3 week hol and loads of weekends away, best decision. As well as not interrupting the weight loss it shows you that food is a really insignificant part of enjoying your holiday.

    confused about exercise?!

The reason your weight slows towards the end of the programme is that your metabolism is at its lowest level - it's been in starvation mode for ages, and as you've got lighter it's been able to use less calories to move your body around the place. Exercise shouldn't slow your losses. It might...

    gallstones question

Sorry to hear you've got them Louale. I'd go see your GP to get a scan and proper diagnosis. After 1 attack they may not say to have your gallbladder out yet but it means you're further along the path to getting it done should they start getting more active. My op's on March 12th, can't wait!

Sounds like you need a duathlon Rachel, there's plenty of them around ;)
  10. G

    Possible for me?

Nope. BMI of 30+ only, it's a much too drastic option for a little bit of weight and all you'd do is lose glycogen in week 1, then put it back on.

    My counsellor is morbidly obese

My LLC was very overweight, which was a bit off putting at first. But she was fantastic with the counselling. You don't need motivation from a skinny person, you need someone who really understands what having issues with food is like and who is able to do the therapy well. You will get...

LL done....now for my 'bucket list'

Well done you! I'm signed up for a few adventure races, the Dartmoor Mountain Marathon, and the Jersey Marathon. Also thinking of doing a Half Ironman Triathlon in August. And next year aim is to solo a coast to coast adventure race - non stop running, kayaking, mountain biking, open water...

    gallstones question

I was diagnosed with gallstones in November after a series of attacks. My op's scheduled for 23rd March, at the moment I have attacks 2-3 times a week that are generally controlled using pethidine (v strong painkiller), and also anti spasmodics and the odd course of antibiotics if it gets...

    Minerva's all grown up...

So sorry to hear you're struggling. How about trying to plan your eating/calorie count? Not in a try and eat the minimum number of calories kind of a way, but in a set yourself a realistic amount (like 2000cals a day) and work out how you are going to meet that. If I'm doing a lot of...

So, how much can I expect to shift?

I had 10 stone to lose, and lost 3.5 in the first 8 weeks. But I was a high loser! Are you staying abstinent on hols? I did for a 3 week trip, best decision I made.

    What do you tell people?

I didn't tell anyone at work for months. If you have your soup or a bar it just looks like you're cutting down and having a cuppa soup or cereal bar, no one really knows the difference. It's much easier to tell people a month or so down the line when you can say "well, I've been doing it for 8...

    Maintainers Refocus Month

I've always been fit "for my size" so have something of a head start on you guys! Started running in March last year, but only intensively since RTM in September. The thing is I really enjoy exercise, so I'm in awe of people who don't enjoy it all that much and still push themselves to do it :)

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks sounds like fun Daisy! I've decided to take the convienient route to losing some more weight and will be doing 3 exante packs + 2 small low carb meals a day for a while as I've decided I really want to lose 21lbs. Around half of that to get back to target and half to...

How do you handle known triggers??

For emotional triggers I find putting anything in place that stops me for a bit and gets away from the immediate feeling really helps. It's kind of about giving enough time to get back into Adult. Things I've used include keeping an "in case of emergency" letter to myself, or preparing or...

I'd get yourself a heart rate monitor Poppy, and make sure you stick in the "fat burning zone". Anyone got more than 10 stone to lose? Eek!

All I have to say is, it can be done! 1 year ago I started LighterLife weighing 21st8, 33 weeks later I had lost 10 stone. I've been maintaining that loss since then. Keep the faith, go in with the attitude that you will and can do this. And if you're doing LL view staying abstinent as your...

Good advice from Foxtrot, pretty much echoes what I would have said which is set a date, like Jan 1st or even Jan 5th or whatever, and set in your mind that you will restart abstinence from that date. If you don't want to/can't go the surgery route then how about looking for some sexier lingerie that will still cover up? Another Newbie here - at least 6st to lose!

Your main options are to go it alone, to join a club like weightwatchers or slimming world, or if you are really dedicated to losing the weight and making a life change consider a VLCD like LighterLife. I did LighterLife and lost 10 stone in 7.5months earlier this year, and have been...

It cost a bit under £10k privately. As I understand it skin will tighten up, but if you've got something like an "apron" it aint going to dissapear on its own. And it does vary from person to person. I didn't attempt the NHS route because I was lucky enough to be able to fund the cost...

    Quick question about the gym

I think your big problem will be that generally people, including PTs, don't understand VLCDs. They'll be amazed you can do anything and are unlikely to be able to advise on a good programme. Best advice is to treat it as two phases - weight loss then fitness. You can do exercise while on LL...

If you're using the treadmill doing interval and fartlek sessions can help to increase speed/fitness/distance really quickly. For interval sessions do a mix of walking and running, fartlek sessions are "speed play", so vary the speed (eg. 3 mins at 8kph, 1 min at 12.5kph, 5 mins at 9.5kph etc)
