Goodness didn't think you'd bite the bullet. I've just been re reading my mother's 1950's copies of Lorna Hill's Sadlers Wells books. Probably not an option on kindle. I'm kinda liking the bi reader idea. Feels like a mega decision! Aaaaargh!

Hi Vitzy, hope plan going well for you this week and that first day of spring having a positive effect. I've invested in some sw recipe books to try and add some variation. I'm v lazy and unimaginative in the kitchen so trying harder to be more inspired. Have a good week all :)

Doesn't weather make a difference, I think you said you live in Peterlee? I'm Bridgehill nr Shotley Bridge and as I drove to work this morning coming over hills to Lamesley there was a heavy frost with low ground mist and the sun was an orange globe as it Rose next to the Angel. Knew it was...

Lucky lucky you. Think we still flock to see Shakespeare because love, murder, jealousy and intrigue amongst other things never go out of fashion. In fact he still manages to capture the human condition though I hope the Royal Court is a tad less bloodthirsty, politicians seem much the same...

SW - 6st to lose! Anyone want a buddy??

Well done for getting on the scales - not weighing for me can lead to another week/ month/ year of eating what I like. I know what you mean re meetings, they work but I must admit I've felt irritable in meetings before ( poss not good leader and felt patronised - I know how to do it, I just...

Really related to that Rainbow Rose. It just kind of sneaks on, I'm about that weight ( doing it in kilos this time (thought it might work better - but just end up converting to lbs lol)). I'd also like to join the chain. You inspired me this morning :) Good luck girls!

Hmmm yes..... Just reading back thru this thread and if we could manage the temptation imp, guilt and I've blown it attitude the whole dieting thing would be more successful. Don't cry Elaine, it's a vicious circle. Each new day, new hope :) Have a good week all.

Hi Vitzy Lunch went well quorn chilli. Then in evening at my dad's out came the cheese tray with crackers, lurpak and tortillas. Went berserk. Followed by three days eating in a rainy cottage in the lakes ... (And nice eating out - can highly recommend Drunken Duck in Hawkshead). With that...

Day went well, this forum really helpful so thanks fellow dieters. Glad things improving for you. Good luck today with birthday tea - buffet grazing can be lethal, I'd happily live off buffet! Think about it before you pop it in your mouth. I'm off to celebratory meal for 80 year old aunt. Need...

Hmmmm may need to rethink. However I know ( from previous experience) that books dropped in the bath will dry out though very rumpled pages.... It's a positive that kindle copes with the steam tho. Take your point re holidays.

Hi Vitzy82, Good advice re tempt imp. I'm rubbish in terms of planning. Always on green but eat fish/shellfish no meat. Have the right food in the house so no tempts here. But easy to eat rubbish at lunchtime at work or grab some rubbish from shops on the way home. Like the hint re telling...

    Historical Fiction - Any recommendations?

Not sure what the definition of historical is but there's James A. Mitchener for American historical novels - Chesapeake, Centennial etc - good storytelling in my view. Also for the Far East there's James Clavell - Tai Pan, Noble House, Sho Gun, Gai Jin etc. I was brought up in the far east and...

    Historical Fiction - Any recommendations?

These are fabulous. Very well written and evocative - you can almost smell old England, plus you get a murder mystery thrown in for good measure.

    Jo Nesbo

I'm half way through The Snowman. Having purchased all his books with my Christmas book tokens, and then have read them in order. I love Harry, his vulnerability and struggle with alcohol. It's frustrating that the first two novels haven't yet been translated - publishing rights? Anyhow...

SW - 6st to lose! Anyone want a buddy??

Morning fellow dieters, I would love to know how I can wake up in the morning, in essence the same as any other morning; and know that the temptation/failure imp is sitting on my shoulder. Been awake 45 mins and already feel that today will be a struggle in terms of food! What's that about...
