Snack ideas

Hi,

does anyone have any ideas for snacks apart from fruit. I also don't eat yogurt.

also any ideas for portable snacks that I can pack alongside my children's when we go out in the mornings?

or is it better to try not to snack? Snacking has always been my downfall :(

Snacking is my downfall too! I tend to snack on cooked meat like chicken. Boiled eggs or seafood sticks.
Or I try keep my main meals low syn to snack using my syn's.
Mug shots are free. Also cherry tomatoes are easy.

I boil eggs and keep them in the fridge, or make a 1/2 syn cake - the whole thing is only 1/2 a syn so you can pick at it and snack on it when you like. I make fritatas with veg to keep in the fridge. Also, I use my hex A sometimes, so I have a mini block (30g) of cheese with a handful of grapes as a snack.

I think the packets of roasted chicken fridge raiders are 2.5 syns which your kids may like!
Or the chunks of chicken tikka found in most supermarkets in the cooked meat section are usually free.
Boiled eggs are good or SW scotch eggs (there is a recipe on the site I think :))
Babybel lights are 2 syns or 3 babybels for a HEB.
Lettuce rollups filled with peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, meat, cottage cheese. Just use a full lettuce leaf and fill and roll. Syn free depending on filling.
Alpen light bars or similar are usually from 2-6 syns depending on brand and type.
Stuffed peppers with cous cous/ batchlors savoury rice and veg. mix the filling with Philadelphia lightest for 1 syn per 25g.
tuna pasta salad. Good to make up the night before and again syn free or low syns if using low fat mayo.
Quavers, space raiders, baked crisps etc are usually not bad in syns. Or make your own SW crisps syn free!
Veg sticks
Mugshots
pickled onions and cheese if Syned or HEB for cheese.
SW houmous and SW coleslaw. Low syn values with veg sticks etc

Hope these have got you thinking lol :)

SW quiches are filling and free

I always keep half a dozen boiled eggs in the fridge

Fish sticks

Lean meats - ham, turkey, chicken, gammon

carrot/cucumber/pepper batons with a 0.5 syn dip (total yogurt chopped cucumber and a tbsp mint sauce) syn free if u use sugar free mint sauce.

Pease pudding is free and can fill rolled ham

Mini trifles - Sugar free jelly (0.5 syns) let it cool add chopped fruit and place in the fridge, when set I add sponge fingers chopped up (1 syn each) and then when ready to eat top with banana and custard mullerlight (free) and add squirty cream (NuMe Areosol is 0.5 syns per 12g)

Hoops and crosses crisps (4 or 4.5syns per packet)

Iceland do pork and pineapple kebabs (0.5syns each)

Sweet Treat - Ferrero Rocher - Crush 10 Ryvita with a rolling pin, add 4 tablespoons of Nutella that's been warmed for 20 seconds in the microwave. Stir well and spoon into small bun cases and leave in the fridge to set. This should make about 28-30 treats at 1 Syn each

Boiled Rice with added peppers, onions, mushrooms etc (syn free)

Chicken topped pizza can be eaten hot or cold - Cut a chicken breast almost in half to make a butterfly shape and flatten with a rolling pin. Smother with tomato puree, add topping of your choice, mushrooms, onions, peppers, pineapple, ham and place in the oven for 20 mins take out and add grated cheese (hex A) and place back in the oven until cheese melts - nice with SW wedges or chips also syn free

I'd be completely lost with out this, makes a ham salad much more filling and satisfying. I used it instead of butter if I have a sandwich or toast too, delicious with salt and black pepper on it!

You've given me some great ideas there texty! I've not made the forrero rocher for a while! Also I've never tried pease pudding....will add some onto my shopping along with the squirty cream!!
